You can choose to save the natives from the soldiers, but you can also choose to just run through the stage. There is no penalty or reward for doing either. Soldiers and flying drones constantly come from the left and the right, but fortunately most weapons can easily dispatch them. The housing provides excellent surfaces to hang onto.
Near the start of the stage is a bird which drops weapons. After it is a Phantom. Shortly after defeating the Phantom, you run into...

After the mini-boss, you will have to scale a hill composed of rectangular chunks of earth while under constant attack from soldiers in jetpacks. There is a bird that drops weapons as well as a bird that drops health. When you reach the top you will end up fighting.
Destroy it quickly. It regenerates its health if you're too slow. Body attacks are effective, but dangerous.
After defeating yet another mini-boss, the ground will mysteriously crack and you will end up sliding downhill. Lots of unlucky soldiers will end up bouncing down the hill for the sole purpose of trying to hit you. More fortunate soldiers will slide down the hill and aim a shots in you general direction. After sliding down for an indeterminable amount of time, you finally reach the bottom and come to a stop right in front of a weapons birdie.
You are now in a deserted village. There aren't any soldiers coming at you, but the insect hives and pesky robotic claw are just as annoying. A health birdie is avaliable shortly before where the scene stops scrolling. Three soldiers will come from above and the robotic claw will start spinning around. Once you defeat the soldiers, the boss will jump from the background to reveal...
It is unadvisable to be under the boss while it's walking.
