Lockout is best used for Slayer variants or fast-paced CTF battles. Leaping over the rail will, of course, be viewed as suicide. The central platform can be seen clearly from absolutely everywhere, which makes it a very dangerous place to be.

A Gravity Lift in the southern tower will take you from the ground level to the top floor. Always consider that you might already be expected before you use it...

The tower in the east is a position favored by snipers. You should be aware that this balcony is easily reached with well-aimed grenades, and that the explosive containers also make this position rather unsafe. It is also very common for SwordWhores to camp here as they can easily climb onto the narrow ledge along the roofline of the tower and dive down on anyone who approches. As this position is completely protected from a distance, they are effectively invincible. The best way to deal with campers in this spot is to announce their presence on your microphone so that everyone can avoid the location. When the camper is eventually forced to come out and fight less he fall behind simply kill him and take his sword (should be easy since all he knows is how to camp).

Tips[edit]

  • Memorize the complex layout of the map quickly as possible. You should additionally be aware of the position of every hole in the ceiling and the floor. They often facilitate unexpected visits from unwelcome guests - but that works both ways, of course. Jumping will allow you to take unusual paths. For example, you could jump from the corner under the sniper post to the left and jump on the slope.
  • Initially, it seemes that there is only one access point - the ramp at the rear - to the flag on the roof. Don't be lulled into a false sense of security. Skillful players will soon realize that, with a courageous jump from the nearby rail, you can actually reach the platform quite easily.
  • As there are always numerous battles over short distances on Lockout, the Energy Sword is a weapon you shouldn't underestimate. You can hide in the Center Room right on the top of a slope and surprise careless victims. The Shotgun is equally valuable here.
  • It is possible to drop down to the bottom of the blue lift through the lift chute itself. Walk off the edge and stay close enough to the near wall and the lift will not "catch" you and push you up.
  • When at Sniper spawn, it is possible to inury or kill an opponent hiding on the second floor of the sniper tower. Throwing plasma grenades in the back two corners of the platform allow the splash damage to go through the wall, possibly killing someone who is hiding by the sniper tower hole.
