Treasures are items that don't belong in the cage permanently; if you exit the cage, they will go. These are also items like treats and things to look after your hamster and cage with.
You can buy treasures at the second page in the Pet Store. To learn more about the functions of some of the treasures, you can visit the Book also located in the Pet Store.
To unlock more treasures, you'll need to talk to Booker (the shopkeeper) frequently. Eventually, you'll get dialogue from Booker to let you know he's going shopping. The next time you visit the store, new treasures (as well as items and hamsters) will be available.
