The Effluvium is the place of muck and sewage. You only need to visit it twice, although a third visit acts as a shortcut back to the Gibbet.
Stalkers will generally hide in the various sewage, thus be preared to dodge.
Dungeon Key[edit]
When you enter, one of the stalkers will see you, and try sniping at long range. This will force you to dodge by moving forward and to the side, and attempt to push you in sight of the Ettins in the alcove.
Enter the north-east alcove, and press the skullface switch. This will open the exit in the south-east alcove, and also raise a water section, allowing you to advance. Watch for stalkers in the northern sewage area, as there's still some ready to ambush. Proceed to the end, and jump onto the platform to the right.
You should see a room with hanging bodies. Open the door on the other side of the room, and fight the centaur enemies on the outside. Look for the dungeon key and grab it.
Return to the starting area. The exit is found in the south-east corridor.
To Forsaken Outpost[edit]
When you arrive from the Dungeons, simply exit the room and enter the slime corridor. Proceed to the first room which branches on the right, where you see the starting area.
There's plenty of interesting items, but the shortest route to the Forsaken Outpost is to enter the starting corridor and going north until you reach the passage to the west. In the room with the vats, turn the wheel on the south wall, and enter the south-west vat. This contains a door leading to a cavern, and the western wall contains the portal.
On the return trip, you can simply use the iron pillar as a lift, and take the shortcut back to the starting corridor.
Items of interest[edit]
- When you enter the Effluvium the second time, continue along the sewer flow to the end. Turn the wheel on the north wall, and the sewage will raise until you can reach the mystic urn.
- In the vat area, there is a falcon shield in the drained north-east vat.
- In the vat area, there is a secret door two steps down from the staircase. It contains a brown chaos serpant and a crater of might.
- In the south-west alcove in the first starting area, you can head to some caverns where you can find Dragonskin Bracers and a Porkalator.
