On your first day as a detective you'll be introduced to the Traffic desk and your partner, Stefan Bekowsky. In the briefing room, your new Captain, Gordon Leary, will give you first assignment—a suspicious vehicle down at the PE Freight Depot.

Head into the crime scene and Officer Hart will brief you on the situation. Look around and find the clues before talking to Nate Wilkey.

Black Residence[edit]
Head into the house and talk to the wife. You'll tell her Black's car was found with blood in it and when you ask her if she's knows anything about InstaHeat, the manufacturer of the bloody pipe, you'll find out that she had a new water heater installed by them recently. Take this time to look around the house for clues before coming back and conducting your interview with Mrs. Black.

When you think you've found everything, go back into the living room and ask Mrs. Black some questions about her husband.

Before you leave, use the phone to get the address of Cavanagh's Bar so you have a new location to go to.
Cavanagh's Bar[edit]
Head into the bar and talk to the bartender to see what you can find out about Frank Morgan. It turns out he's here at the bar, so make your way to the back and talk to him.

If you got both questions correct in the interview, you'll have the option to arrest Morgan or let him go. Either way is fine, although having him arrested makes things a little easier for you later.
Morgan's Apartment[edit]
On the way to the apartment, you'll get a call from KGPL telling you that the blood found in the car isn't from a human, but from a pig. That would explain the receipt you found and backs up Morgan's story that Black wanted to fake his death. Head into the building and get the apartment number from the mailboxes on the left. When you go up and talk to him, Black seems like he'll go along quietly, but then makes a break for it. Follow him out the window and up the fire escape to the roof, and keep running after him until Bekowsky can cut him off.
