After a brief fight, Brainiac hypnotizes all of the Lanterns with his mind control rays, capturing them with ease. He now turns his attention to Earth, where the last Lantern color resides. Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice, Cyborg has completed the Sideways Teleporter, connecting the Hall of Justice to the Watchtower orbiting Earth. Cut to Wayne Manor, Batman is investigating Killer Croc's motives before being alerted of an alien spaceship heading toward Earth. He decides to go to the observatory to check it out.

  • Characters unlocked: Alfred, Bomb Suit, Techno Suit, Illumination Suit
  • True Hero: 170,000
  • Minikit Figure: Batwing
  • Character Tokens: Man-Bat, Hush, Red Hood
  • Red Brick: Score x4

Starting the level[edit]

Before the level actually begins, you'll have to explore a bit of the Batcave to get to it. Switch to Batman's Sensor Suit and peer through the green wall. Rotate the switches behind the screen into position, then press the big red button at the center, causing it to power some drawers with a grappling spot inside. Use your grapple to pull out one of the drawers, leaving a token for Batman on the floor. This token gives Batman the Power Suit, letting him fire or plant explosives to blow up shiny metal objects. You can try it out on some of the metal furniture south of the green wall. The center one contains parts to build a crank, which raises a bridge to the eastern side of the cave when turned.

Once you cross the bridge, you'll encounter a new obstacle: a security camera. It will lock down the room inside the glass chamber if it sees you, so use Batman's Sensor Suit and enter stealth mode to sneak past the camera. Inside, switch to the Power Suit and destroy the sparkling metal generator, then pull the lever that was behind it. The security camera will deactivate, letting Robin enter the glass chamber as well, Destroy the glass container with a token inside to get Robin's Techno Suit. The Techno Suit gives Robin the know-how to operate all sorts of computers and machines, including the one below the green Batman logo screen. There are three wheels of spinning colors, with some smaller squares of a fixed color on the screen. Select the color that scrolls by when it matches the color of the smaller squares. Do so with all three wheels to lower the lift beside you. Enter the lift to reach the observatory!

Part 1: An explosive fight[edit]

  • 3 Minikits, 1 Character Token, Adam West, Red Brick

While looking through the telescope, Batman spots Brainiac's ship and asks Robin to inform the Justice League. Unfortunately, he accidentally stares at the ship's mind control rays and starts destroying the Batcave with the Power Suit!

You are now in control of Robin and Alfred, and you must knock some sense into Batman before he causes too much damage. Start by going to the upper-left platform where Batman just destroyed his computer. Hold the attack button to make Robin aim his staff, then target the circle on the wall to stick his staff in it. Now you can swing up the poles jutting from the wall and reach Batman. However, the moment you get close to Batman, he will plant an explosive then trap you with a pit of bats. Mash the button that appears onscreen when this happens to swipe the bats away, causing Robin to automatically jump off the ledge before the bomb explodes.

Batman has found an even higher vantage point to pepper you with explosive rounds from. The path to the right side of the cave is blocked off by fires, but Alfred's handy shield protects him from the flames, so use him to cross the damaged path. Batman will launch some explosives your way, which conveniently destroys two metal objects nearby. First, use the parts from the blue canister container to build a sprinkler system, putting out the fire and letting Robin cross over to Alfred. Next, use the parts from the crate to build a console that Robin can activate with the Techno Suit. Doing so stops the motion of the Solar System mobile, and also reveals a grapple spot on one of the planet. Target the spot with Robin's hook to reach the alcove Batman is standing on. Once again, mash out of Batman's swarm of bats before the planted bomb explodes.

Batman is now laying siege above the center of the stage. His explosive rounds blow up part of the ceiling, destroying a pile of objects below. Use the debris to build a computer screen, then operate the control panel beside it with Robin's Techno Suit. Use the screen to release the two red locks below where Batman is standing, which deploys a stairway that lets you reach Batman. He will destroy the telescope with an explosive, then runs off into the darkness in the chaos. The tunnel he escaped through is too dark to follow, but luckily you'll obtain a new token for Robin: the Illumination Suit! To use the suit, you must charge up energy from a nearby generator, and after that you can only illuminate for a limited amount of time. Go up into the dark cave and illuminate it to find a grappling spot among the debris. Pull on the grappling spot to clear the path forward.

Part 2: Battle against the Batmobile[edit]

  • 7 Minikits, 2 Character Tokens

Batman has managed to evade the Batcave's defense systems and enter the Batmobile. When you regain control of Robin, charge up the Illumination Suit again from the generator nearby. Head down and left to light up the dark corridor, then smash the missiles and barrels there to get pieces to build a console compatible with Robin's Techno Suit. Activate the console to assemble the Batboat. Hop in once it's completed and fire at the Batmobile. Batman will launch rockets toward you as well, but persistent firing will let you destroy the missiles before they hit you.

While the Batmobile is slightly damaged, Batman still manages to destroy the Batboat. He also blows up a barrier preventing you from going upstairs, causing a large fire across the stairway. Use Alfred to shield yourself from the flames, then assemble the loose blocks at the top to get a fire extinguisher, putting out the fire and letting Robin join you. Have both characters stand on the floor buttons in the elevator to be carried to a higher level. Destroy the various crates and containers on this platform to get parts for building the Batcycle. Like with the Batboat, you must fire several shots at the Batmobile until he destroys the Batcycle.

One more vehicle is out of commission, but the destruction of the Batmobile has knocked down a ladder, letting you progress onward. Climb up the ladder, then use the loose LEGO blocks to build an R panel. Equipped with the Techno Suit, Robin can create and control a miniature robot of himself, which can pass through R panels. Use the mini-robot to operate the console remotely, extending a bridge to let you reach the Batwing controls. Unfortunately, Batman blows up the main computer before you can reach it! You'll need to create a backup computer fast. Construct a waste disposal machine from the debris, then use Robin's Hazard Suit to suck up all the nearby LEGO pieces. Once you have 25 of them, deposit them into the machine to make the backup computer pop out. Interact with the computer to enter virtual reality!

In this neon cyberspace, you must step on three switches to activate the Batwing. The first if up ahead, which spawns the second switch to the left, and the last switch on a tall platform up on the right. The floor will shift up and down to simulate terrain, but most of them are one block ledges that you can leap over with a well-spaced jump. Beware of any red blocks, as they will drop into the abyss when you step on them. After all three switches have been pressed, the Batwing will fly over and park itself on the opposite platform. Hurry past the Batmobile and use your grappling hook to pull over the bridge to the platform. Hop in the Batwing and finish the Batmobile off!

Part 3: A bat monster[edit]

The Batmobile suffers critical damage and short circuits, electrocuting Batman before exploding. However, Batman is still under mind control, and he's pulling out all the stops, surrounding himself with bats to form a massive Batman! This massive Batman monster can't be hurt by normal means, and he can kill you in one hit. His punches are slow, giving you time to escape, but you will not survive if you get hit. He can also do a sweeping wind attack that surrounds you with bats if you get caught. Either outrun his breath when he does this or start mashing the moment you are trapped to escape.

The goal here is simply to survive Batman's attacks. Eventually, you'll see blocks fall from the ceiling. Use this LEGO blocks to build a spotlight, then use Robin's grappling hook to aim it at Batman, scattering the bats surrounding him with light. Without his armor, you can get close to Batman and punch him, after which he surrounds himself with bats again. Dodge his attacks until you get pieces to build another spotlight, this time with a crank instead of a grapple spot. Shine the bat monster, then punch Batman inside to deal more damage. Survive one final onslaught until the last LEGO pieces drop. These pieces are used to create a radio, which blasts music to drive bats away. Hit Batman one last time to finish the stage!

Despite the repeated attacks, Batman is still mind controlled. Fortunately, just before he kills Robin, he snaps out of it just as Robin is persuading him to remember his sidekick. Robin thinks it's his speech that cured the mind control, but Batman insists it was the Batmobile's shock that stopped it. Now the question remains: who hypnotized Batman, and why?

Meanwhile at the Hall of Justice, Hawkman makes his way to the meeting room and opens a secret exit to the sewers, where he is knocked over by Killer Croc. It turns out that the League of Doom has infiltrated the Hall of Justice, including Lex Luthor, who disguised himself as Hawkman to get through security. They plan to use the Watchtower's cannon to hold the world ransom, forcing the nation to make Luthor president!

Collectables[edit]

Minikits[edit]

  1. Find and destroy three globes scattered around in the observatory. The first one is at the end of the hallway leading west. The second one is at the center next to a yellow barrel, opposite the computer. The last globe can be found on the platform with the destroyed telescope. Destroy all three to make the Minikit appear at the location of the last one.
  2. (Free Play only) Above the telescope is a shiny metal cover. Blow it up with explosives to make the Minikit drop down.
  3. (Free Play only) Beside the Solar System model is a ledge with some golden canisters. Fly to the ledge and use a laser to blast the canisters apart. The Minikit is in an alcove right behind the canisters.
  4. As Alfred, after Robin has illuminated the dark corner with the missiles, destroy them and use his tray on the dirt patch to dig up the Minikit.
  5. Swim to the island around the pillar next to the Batmobile platform. Use Alfred's tray to dig up two dirt patches, giving you enough pieces to build a duck. The duck will swim to the dock before abruptly exploding into studs. The Minikit is found at the center of the stud formation.
  6. (Free Play only) On the platform for the Batcycle, there is a bright blue door. Use the Magnet Suit to unlock the door, then walk into the chamber behind it for the Minikit.
  7. (Free Play only) At the door near the R panel, there is a green brick wall. See through the wall with the Sensor Suit, then align the gears behind the wall so that the top and bottom gears face the center, while the middle gear is aligned vertically. The moving gears unlock the door, revealing the Minikit behind it.
  8. (Free Play only) After rebuilding the Batcomputer, you need to find 25 more LEGO pieces. The area around the computer has plenty of pieces, but you can find some more on the ledge above the Batcycle platform. Just dump the LEGO pieces into the machine to make the Minikit pop out.
  9. (Free Play only) There are five metallic stalactites that you must destroy with explosives. There are two of these stalactites where the Batcomputer is located. Fly to the eastern area beyond the Batwing platform to find three stalactites that you can blow up. Destroy them all to get your Minikit.
  10. (Free Play only) At the far right area with the costumes, use super senses to reveal a warp panel. Pass through it as Martian Manhunter to get inside one of the costume containers, where you'll find the Minikit.

Character Tokens[edit]

  • Man-Bat: (Free Play only) The initial area where you used to reach Batman the first time, destroy the machines to the left of the burning fire to find a generator. Drain the power from the generator and head to the right end of the cave. Operate the console with the Techno Suit, then use the Sensor Suit or super senses in the area around it to reveal parts for an electricity receptor. Unload your built up electricity into the generator to make the Sun in the spinning model break apart, with the character token inside.
  • Hush: (Free Play only) To the right of where you dug up the duck pieces is a glass container. Use the Sonar Suit or a sonic attack on the container to destroy it, letting you get the token within.
  • Red Hood: (Free Play only) You will find Bat-Mite south of the costumes area. He wants you to find some sort of remote for him. Return to the Batcomputer where you should see a glass container. Break it apart with a sonic attack to find the item inside, then take it to Bat-Mite for your character token.

Red Brick[edit]

(Free Play only) Down and left from where Batman first attacks from, use a character with the Sensor Suit or super senses to find a Plastic Man panel. Interact with it as Plastic Man to shapeshift into a crane, making him pull up a Red Brick from the abyss below. This Red Brick contains Score x4, which multiplies the value of your studs by 4. It studs with other multipliers, so using them together can really boost your stud count.

Adam West in Peril[edit]

(Free Play only) Between the telescope and the model of the Solar System, you can see Adam West stranded on a rock in the middle of a waterfall. Use a laser to destroy the golden crate on the telescope deck, leaving behind a Lantern pad. Activate the Lantern pad with a Lantern to create a slide, letting Adam West get down to safety.
