  • Unlock requirements: Beat any level that takes place on a Lantern Planet (level 9-14), then complete the Permission to Launch quest in the Watchtower.

The Moonbase[edit]

Initially, you won't be able to access the Moon. After beating any stage with a Lantern Planet as a setting, the broken slideways teleporter at the south side of the Watchtower central hub will be repairable. Talk to Loontern and complete the Permission to Launch quest he gives you to fix the teleporter, which takes you to the center of the Moonbase.

Inside the Moonbase building is really the only location on the Moon required for total completion. Here, you will find slideways teleporters to every Lantern Planet except Oa. The teleporter for Oa is located on the opposite side of the moon, but a grate near the exit of the Moonbase will take you right to it for certain characters like Plastic Man. However, you can't just travel to any Lantern Planet you wish immediately, as each have their own unlock conditions to fix their teleporters.

Note: the unlock conditions for Lantern Planets outside of Oa may vary with each playthrough. You need at least 40 Gold Bricks to access all the Lantern Planets.

Once you meet the unlock conditions for a level, you can use the bricks in front of the planet's teleporter to repair said teleporter. Upon teleporting to the planet for the first time, it will be made available on the world map for you to access anywhere.

Lunar trekking[edit]

There are absolutely no collectibles on the Moon. However, the area outside the Moonbase has a ton of studs scattered around, so it's worth your time to explore here if you are saving up for an unlockable. Due to the Moon's lower mass, everything on it including you and destructible objects experience lower gravity, so you're able to leap higher and stay in the air longer. There are three refuel stations for Space Suit users: one by the exit of the Moonbase, one alone on the surface and one at the Oa portal.

To get as many studs as possible, you need three abilities: flight, explosives and lasers. The power of flight lets you get to rings of studs hovering over the area, explosives are used to destroy silver statues and lasers are used on their golden counterparts. If you keep going straight from the Moonbase, you will pass by a trio of Bat-cows that can net you an achievement. Other odd sights include chicken statues, teddy bear statues and a double decker bus.
