Lupin is the star of the game. Although he chooses to operate on the wrong side of the law as a master thief, Lupin has a heart of gold, with a weakness for beautiful ladies. Coming from a long line of thieves, Lupin is well trained in the use of many professional tools that help save his life, and get the job done. Only Lupin can make use of these items, including the life-saving bullet proof vest, which allows him to make it much farther into dangerous territory without capture than any of his companions. But there are occasions when it's best for Lupin to stand aside and let someone else take care of business.
Daisuke Jigen

Jigen is Lupin's right hand man, and loyal friend. Jigen doesn't make any of the plans, he lets Lupin come up with the schemes. But Jigen's help is usually indispensable, and he often helps to bail his friend out of trouble. Jigen is an expert marksman. While Lupin is good with a gun, Jigen can successfully hit a target over an incredible distance, which allows him to fire at enemies from a much safer distance than Lupin. Jigen can even fire his gun in mid-air. Unlike his friend however, he is much more susceptible to getting captured.
Goemon Ishikawa XIII

Goemon is an enigmatic figure who often joins Lupin in his schemes when they work to undermine some injustice. He is a renegade samurai, a descendant from a long like of noble warriors who once wielded their sword with pride. Goemon's sword has few equals in the world, capable of slicing through just about anything with little to no effort on Goemon's part. As a result, Goemon is capable of destroying objects that guns are useless against. However, Goemon will not use any guns, so his short-ranged sword is his only offense. As a result, he can only attack enemies at close range.

Zenigata, also known as "Pops", is a police inspector working for the ICPO. He has made it his mission in life to arrest Lupin. He will appear from time to time in an effort to arrest Lupin or either of his companions. When Zenigata is on the screen, no other enemies will appear. Likewise, as long as one other enemy is present on the screen, Zenigata will not appear. Sometimes, Zenigata attempts to capture his target by tossing a pair of handcuffs into the air. If they hit Jigen or Goemon, or Lupin without a bullet-proof vest in reserve, it's as good as him catching them with his own hands. Characters who are arrested as opposed to captured cannot be rescued by a companion.
Fujiko Mine

Fujiko is Lupin's love interest. She is sometimes an associate in his schemes, sometimes a rival, knowing full well that his infatuation with her will mean that he will forgive her for double-crossing him at times. Fujiko is an extremely intelligent and crafty person and will use her feminine charms to get what she wants from any man. Her role in the game appears to be minor, but no one can ever tell what Fujiko is truly up to…
Clarisse Cagliostro

She met Lupin when he attempted to find the truth behind the centuries old counterfeiting operation rumored to be headquartered in the Principality of Cagliostro. Having once rescued the princess from the nefarious plans of the Count of Cagliostro, the dark heir, Lupin receives word that Clarisse has been kidnapped, and sets out immediately to rescue her again.
