Competitive Party Quests are the other variety. In competitive Party Quests, either two parties compete against each other, or groups of people compete individually for a ranking. Experience earned in these quests is usually given based off your standings against the opposing team or individuals, so it's important to do well in order to get the most Experience possible.

This is another Competitive Quest for character between 20 and 30. Characters may compete against each other only if they have a level difference of 5 or less(for fairness) i.e. A level 21 can compete with 20-26s, a level 25 with 20-30 and a level 28 with 23-30(notice that only characters between 20 and 30 can participate). It can be accessed from Ariant, Ludibrium, Henesys, Nautilus Harbor, Perion, CBD, and other towns. There are three possible rooms per channel that the competition can take place in.
This is the equivalent of Spiegelman's office for Monster Carnival. Upon talking to the NPC in one of the towns, players arrive here, where they can meet up with potential opponents. Players can choose one of the rooms to enter, and determine the number of opponents they would like to face. A match can range from 1 versus 1 to a full out free-for-all between 6 players.
Upon selecting the number of opponents and what map they would like to fight on, the player enters this waiting room. If another player decides to fight on that map with the same number of opponents, they will also appear in the waiting room. The player that creates the room is also able to throw other players out that enter by talking to the NPC. Once the appropriate number of opponents have arrived, the first player to enter must talk to the NPC to begin the match.
Once everyone has entered a room, the players must talk to the NPC to receive Element Rocks and Bombs, both of which are Use items. After these are obtained, a number of Scorpions will spawn. The goal is to collect as many Scorpions as possible by weakening them with ordinary attacks and then using an Element Rock. The lower the scorpion's health, the more likely it is that a capture stone will succeed. After a Scorpion is successfully captured, it will appear as a shiny Spirit Jewel in the ETC inventory.
Bombs can be used to attack the other players and cause them to drop about a third of their own scorpion gems. A bomb will also stun anyone in range, including the person who set it, so one must be careful to get away from a bomb after they set it. While the opponent is stunned, quickly run around and pick up his dropped gems. If the gems are not picked up by the person who set off the bomb before the stun wears off, then the victim may grab them again.
If one starts to run out of bombs, the scorpions can also be killed. When they die, they will drop Bombs and buff or debuff items. The possible items are as follows:
Crazy Skull affects a random opponent (In GlobalMS and MapleSEA it affects all the opponents). The other three items affect the player who picked them up. All items are used as soon as they are looted.
After the time is up, players talk to the queen. She will take the Spirit Jewels and grant experience based on how many Scorpions were captured and what place the player ranked amongst the competitors. The points are based on 1 per 10 jewels and how many players beaten, the maximum being 3 for 2 players and 8 or more for at least 5 players. The last place player gets only 1 point, unless they are unable to get 5 jewels. Additionally, after gaining 200 points from Coliseum battles, players can obtain a Palm Tree Beach chair from the King, which is tradeable.

This is a competitive Party Quest for characters between levels 30 and 50. You can access to this Party Quest only from Spiegelmann, who appears in Kerning City, Ludibrium, Orbis and CBD. Two parties enter a Ludibrium-themed map and compete at killing monsters for CP, or Carnival Points. These CP, in turn, can be used to either slow down the other team, summon monsters on them, or can simply be held. At the end of the time limit, the team with the most CP wins. CP can also be used to summon Monsters on the other team, make the creatures stronger, faster, or make the other players damage decrease. Items dropped in this PQ, will be used once picked up, but etc items will be kept for exchange for weapons and necklaces.
If you tie with another team then you will have an addition of 2 minutes to get more points to beat the other team.
There are 6 fields on each channel, so there can be up to 6 fights on each channel. Parties consist of 2-6 users. The first 4 fields are 2-4 users. Others are 3-6 users. The way it works is, one party creates the lobby waiting room. From there the party leader accepts or declines invitations from other parties. Other parties can only face if the number of users are equal (or in some cases, a strong party, vs a weaker party with more people). After a party is picked to fight, the party enters and the fighting starts.
You may not use the potions you carry around with you in the battlefield. Instead, the monsters drop potions and you use the potions immediately when you pick them up. All of the potions have the same effect as the ones you carry around with you. Additional items found in the battlefield:
Parties win by having the most accumulated CP by the end of 10 minutes. If you use the CP, it won't be counted against how you win, only the total CP collected will show if you win.
CPs are used to summon monsters, use skills, or summon protectors.
Each item has a set CP cost. Players can access them quickly using Tab and the F keys.

Unlike other party quests, the Carnival PQ does not have a bonus stage, nor a set reward. However, Maple Coins can be found from the various monsters inside, redeemed to Spiegelmann (the Carnival NPC) for prizes. Also, the experience that is rewarded to both the winning and losing team varies depending on the Rank received; the Rank received depends upon how much CP the party gathers:

Players will usually go to Channel 1 of the Carnival lobby area to form up parties. Leaders will usually say "RPQ" and players looking for groups will say "JPQ". A leader with a group but no opponents will usually say "L>2v2" or "L>3v3" to search for another leader with a formed group. If you are a leader and wish to challenge the opposing group, trade with the player to open a chat box to work out details. Having both groups switch to a different Carnival channel will result in less spam for all involved.
An alternate strategy for recruiting players is to recruit either 4 or 6 players, change channels, and split into two groups for 2v2 or 3v3. As the leader/recruiter, you should ask one of your members to become the leader for the opposing team.
Due to the massive amount of exp given out for CPQ, many groups are interested in "trading wins" or swap. Typically, when two new groups face off, they will fight-for-first "FFF/fff" and then trade wins "tw" by allowing their opponents to win the next game. This arrangement can continue on as long as both teams stay relatively intact. Two good teams can easily earn 40,000 exp every 20 minutes by trading wins back and forth. Be sure to work out the details with the other team to make sure if they will or will not trade wins.
Teams that specialize in mobbing (warriors/brawlers/Ice-Lightning mages/etc) will generally prefer rooms 3/4 for fighting due to the flat map. If both teams are trading wins, the winning team may ask the losing team to summon monsters on map 3/4 to improve the spawn rate, allowing them to reach 501+ points faster. Typically requested summons are Toy Trojans with Speed Up "trojans+speed", Rombots for parties with heavy hitters (warriors/assassins/etc) and occasionally Master Chronos "MC" for parties with high level clerics. Lower level teams (30~35?), or teams without heavy mobbing skills will generally do better on maps 5/6 due to the fact that robos are much slower (easy to avoid) and easier to hit than Toy Trojans. Rombots on the bottom floor should be avoided by most non-heavy-hitter players. No summons are usually requested on maps 5/6.

This is a competitive Party Quest for characters between levels 51 and 70. You can access to this Party Quest only from Orbis and Ludibrium. Unlike Season One, the two parties enter maps that represent deeper areas of the Ludibrium Clock tower. Again, teams compete to kill monsters, however when compared to Season One, Season Two introduces higher leveled monsters. Most of the features are the same as the ones in Season One.
Players are able to redeem their previous Spiegelmann necklace including a better Chaos Necklace. However, you need to get 150 Shiny Maple Coins to obtain the Chaos Necklace.
If you tie with another team then you will have an addition of 2 minutes to get more points to beat the other team.
While Monster Carnival 2 has been released in several official servers, there still seems to be a number of issues with it, so modifications are expected in the future.
A common method for acquiring Experience quickly through Monster Carnival: Season 2 is to first create a group and find another group that is willing to trade wins. Choose which team will win first (in this example, your team will go first), then begin the Party Quest and acquire 50 CP. After 2 minutes, have the other team quit the game. The team that stayed will receive 33,000 Experience. Start the PQ once more, let the other team acquire 50 points, then have your team quit. You can continue this process indefinitely. This method previously gave 63,000 EXP prior patch 0.78.
A new 3 vs 3 competitive Party Quest for Lv. 60~80, recently released in KoreaMS.
To enter this area, you will have to complete a quest 'Wandering Rumors in the Sea Mist' by Captain Hwang. After you completed the quest, you will be given access by the Dolphin NPC in Aqua Road or Herb Town to warp to the Ghost Ship.
When you are in the area of the Ghost Ship, you will need to have 2 parties available with 3 members in each party. After the two parties are ready, you talk to the NPC Norrington to take the challenge. Once you are inside, both parties will be named Team Red and Team Blue.
This party quest has five stages and a boss stage. The main point of this party quest is which team beats the final boss first will win. In the first 5 stages, you cannot see the other team, in the last (boss) stage you can see both teams trying to defeat the Ghost Ship Captain.
Killing monsters can give you points, the more points you earn the more EXP you will get at the end. However, if you die, you will lose 5 points.
In all the stages you have to kill monsters. Surprisingly, there are Singapore mobs in this Party Quest. The mobs can drop Accessory for STR/INT/LUK/DEX/HP/MP 30% and 70% scrolls, which can be used on belts, pendants and rings.
Some monsters inside the Ghost Ship were given new mob skills as well:
For a period of time, you cannot use potions.
For a period of time, your eyesight decreases. Everything is in darkness except your character.
If you don't move your character, you will suffer damage. Note: All of these new curses can be dispelled.
In this Party Quest, you can earn 2 capes by completing the PQ several times.
| Completed the Party Quest | Prize |
|---|---|
| 30 times | |
| 50 times |
The team who beat Ghost Ship Captain (boss) quicker than the other team wins.
The team who wins will receive EXP.
The amount of EXP you get depends on how many points you earned and the bonus EXP.
