Exhibition[edit]

You get to choose whatever you whether it's singles or doubles. Also how long your match is going to last and how difficult your AI can react to a ball. Unlock more for greater variety.

Tournament[edit]

You can choose between singles and doubles. Play all characters to unlock everything. Difficulty increases as you play through the tournaments. It's for one player only.

If you're playing doubles, you have no choice but to partner up what character it's designated to, in order to keep balanced how you and your partner co-ordinate in the tournament. This is in order from left to right, top to bottom:

Special games[edit]

You can participate in longer matches, tiebreaks or watch your favourite characters battle it out in Demo mode. Learn your opponents' strategies here. However if you get tired of it, there's Piranha Challenge for one player, Ring Shot and Bowser Stage. Special note: Ring Tournament is available only on the N64. It won't be available on Virtual Console.
