Natural Overworld blocks

Here follows a list of all the blocks that naturally appear in the Overworld.

  • Air: a block where you can place stuff and breath in.
  • Andesite: A stone block used for decoration.
  • Bedrock: Bottom layer of the Overworld. Indestructible to prevent you from falling in the abyss bellow.
  • Clay: Found on the bottom of rivers. Used to make clay bricks and flower pots.
  • Cobweb: Found in underground dungeons. Spiders nearby. Slows walking and falling if moved through. Can be harvest for String with sword.
  • Diorite: A stone block used for decoration.
  • Dirt: Grass can grow on top if grass block adjacent. Can be turned into Farmland with a Hoe. Best harvested with Shovel.
  • Podzol: Variant on dirt block. Only appears in Mega Taiga biomes. Best harvested with Shovel. Turns in to dirt at harvest. Muschrooms will grown on it at all light levels.
  • Coarse Dirt: Variant on dirt block. Grass doesn't grow on coarse dirt.
  • Granite: A stone block use for decoration
  • Grass Block: A dirt block with grass on it. Best harvested with a Shovel. On harvest turns in to dirt block.
  • Gravel: falls down if not supported. Can suffocate if it falls on to your head. Can give Flint if harvested. Best harvested with Shovel.
  • Ice: water in cold biomes can turn in to ice blocks. Can be broken like glass. Is slippery. Can turn adjacent water blocks in to ice. At harvest dissappears. Will melt near light source.
  • Packed Ice: Found only in Ice Plain Spikes biome in the form of huge ice spikes. Won't melt near light source.
  • Mycelium: Found in Mushroom biomes. Mycelium spreads like grass. Harvest with Shovel. Turns into dirt on harvest.
  • Sand: Falls down if not supported. Can suffocate if it falls on to your head. Can be smelted to glass in Furnace. Cacti and Sugar Cane grow on sand. Found in desserts, rivers and beaches. Will drop as item if falls on non solid block like a torch. Best harvested with a Shovel. Sand can be used to make a block of TNT.
  • Red Sand: like sand but red.Found in Mesa biomes.
  • Sandstone: Found where there is sand. Doesn't fall if unsupported. Best harvested with Pickaxe.
  • Red Sandstone: like sandstone but red. Found in Mesa biomes.
  • Snow: on harvest turns in to snowballs. Best harvested with shovel. Snowballs can be used to reform snow block. Used in the making of Snow Golems.
  • Snow layer: layer of snow covering a block. Remove with shovel for Snowballs.
  • Stone: found underground. Best harvested with Pickaxe. Harvested as Cobblestone. Cobblestone can be smelted to Stone.
  • Wood: Found in trees. Has 4 variants: Oak, Spruce, Birch, Jungle, Acacia, Dark Oak. Can be turned in to Wooden Planks. Is flammable. Best harvested with Axe. Can be smelted into Charcoal.
  • Coal Ore: Harvest with Pickaxe for Coal.
  • Iron Ore: Smelt into Iron Ingots. Harvest with Pickaxe.
  • Gold Ore: Smelt into Gold Ingots. Harvest with Pickaxe
  • Diamond Ore: Harvest for Diamonds with Pickaxe.
  • Lapis Lazuli Ore: Harvest for Lapis Lazuli with Pickaxe.
  • Redstone Ore: Harvest for Redstone with Pickaxe.
  • Emerald Ore: Harvest for Emerald with Pickaxe.
  • Water: liquid. Have limited oxygen inside of. Drags objects on surface with current. Can be put in a bucket.
  • Lava: burns on contact. Flows slower than water. Can be put in a bucket.
Natural blocks of the Nether
  • Netherrack: fire on Netherrack burns for ever. Almost all solid blocks in the Nether is Netherrack. Can be smelted into Nether Brick. Best harvested with Pickaxe.
  • Nether Quartz block: can be found inside the Netherrack. Can be smelted into Quartz. Best harvested with pickaxe.
  • Soul Sand: Slows you greatly down when walked on. Netherwart only grows on Soul Sand. Best harvested with Shovel.
Natural Blocks of the Nether
  • Enderstone: most solid blocks in the End.
  • Obsidian: the pillars on which the Enderdragon healing crystals are made of obsidian.
  • Glowstone: forms clusters on the ceiling of the Nether. Break to get glowstone powder. Use glowstone powder to make a glowstone block back. Gives of light.
Manufactured blocks
  • Bookshelf: Fill the bottom en top row of the crafting table grid with wooden planks. Fill the middle row with books. On harvest you only get the books back.
  • Bricks block: use 4 bricks together to make a block of bricks.
  • Wooden fence: place 2 wooden planks in the first column of the crafting table grid above each other. Then place 2 sticks next to it. And then place another 2 wooden planks next to that. Fences 1 block high are to high for mobs to jump over. All the wood in the fence must be of the same type of wood.
  • Glass block: smelt sand to get a block of glass. Use two rows of glass in the crafting table grid to make 16 glass panes. Glass blocks are also used to make daylight sensors and glass bottles.
  • Hay bale: use 9 wheat together to make a hay bale. Ideal for feeding horses.
  • Iron bars: fill 2 rows of iron ingots in the crafting table grid to get 16 iron bars. Mobs can jump over iron bars 1 block high.
  • Ladder: arrange 7 wooden sticks in a H-shape in the crafting table grid to get 3 ladders. Ladders can be placed against the side of block to make them climbable.
  • Wood planks: make 4 wooden planks out of 1 wood. Type of wood used determines the type wooden planks. Wooden planks can be turned into wooden trapdoors, wooden doors, bowls, sticks, wooden buttons, wooden pressure plates, chests, boats and crafting tables. Wooden planks are used as an ingredient in the making of note blocks, signs, bookshelves, beds, wooden fences, wooden fence gates, jukeboxes, tripwire hooks and pistons. Wooden is a material used for weapons and tools.
  • Wool: sheared from sheep. Use 4 string to make 1 block of wool. Wool is used as an ingredient for the making of beds, paintings and banners.
