Haja no Fuuin cloth map

The game of Miracle Warriors is played throughout the world of Five Lands, which is presented by the map above. This map was provided in the packaging with the game, and is meant to be used as a reference while you play. You are only shown a small section of land at one time, so the map can provide you with a larger view for you to understand your proximity to other nearby destinations. This map of the Five Lands for the Sega Master System version of the game is quite different from the map used in the original version of the game for the Famicom, MSX, and other Japanese home computers. For comparison, see the map shown to the right.

You begin in the upper right corner of the map in the kingdom of Arasia. (By contrast, you begin in the lower left corner in the original version of the game.) Your first destination will be the town of Galia to the south. Over time, you will expand your exploration of the world to all four corners. Your exploration is limited by a set of blocks that surround the map whose only purpose is to contain you inside the known sections of the world. As you travel throughout the world, you will discover different places of interest located in a variety of terrains. Refer to the following charts to understand and recognize what each feature represents.

Locations
Image Name Description
Miracle Warriors icon castle.png Castle Castles are the home of the royalty that rule the divided lands. While you only receive your assignment from the King of Arasia, other kings possess legendary weapons which have been handed down from generation to generation. If you can prove your worthiness in battle, and have the proper wielder of such a weapon in your party, a king might be convinced to bestow these weapons upon you.
Miracle Warriors icon town.png Town Towns are vital to your quest. First and foremost, every town has a healer which can restore health lost in battle. They also contain weapon shops, black smiths, and a variety of other citizens who possess bits of information which may prove useful to you in your search for direction. When embarking into unknown territory, your first priority should be to locate the nearest town and use it as a base for exploration.
Miracle Warriors icon village.png Village Small villages and hamlets populate the countryside and are scarcely marked on the map. You will be left to your own devices to find them. Unlike towns, which contain many useful people, a village only has one person of interest for you to see. But these people are typically vital to your journey, or offer some service that can't be found anywhere else in the world.
Miracle Warriors icon monument.png Monuments Monuments do more than simply serve as landmarks around the world. Many of them are also the entrances to dungeons that can be explored for many important or magical items that will aid you in your quest. Some will not be immediately available to you even if you find them. They might be locked, or sealed with magic.
Miracle Warriors icon cave.png Cave Caves are scattered throughout the world. Unlike monuments, they do not lead to deep explorable dungeons. Instead, they are the dens and lairs of powerful monsters who possess valuable equipment which you need to recover in order to strengthen yourself against more powerful foes to come. Not all caves are immediately accessible. Certain party members are required to gain access to them.
Terrain
Image Name Description
Miracle Warriors terrain plain.png Plains Plains are the safest of all terrains to travel upon. Along the plains, you may encounter difficult enemies, but they are far weaker than those encountered in other terrains of the world. New adventurers and newcomers to a region are highly advised to remain on the plains until sufficient battle experience has been acquired.
Miracle Warriors terrain forest.png Forest The forest is the next least deadly terrain to explore after the plains. Monsters found here are only a tad stronger than those which occupy the plains, but you should still prepare well before you choose to examine them. Some monsters which are only found in the woods provide a valuable item when defeated.
Miracle Warriors terrain mountains.png Mountains Mountains are somewhat treacherous places to visit. The monsters that you encounter in the mountains will be quite strong and possess a lot of health, leading to long drawn out battles. One should never wander the mountains alone, and always keep a near-full health meter in case you find yourself in one of these extended battles.
Miracle Warriors terrain desert.png Desert Of all of the land terrains, the desert is the most dangerous. Only the most powerful of monsters have the ability to survive in the desert environment, and they don't react well to intruders. Ever on the hunt for the next meal, monsters found in the desert will be strong and aggressive. Limit your travels through the desert as much as possible.
Miracle Warriors terrain water calm.png Calm water When you finally obtain a boat upon which to travel the seas and rivers, you will be restricted to the lighter blue water, which represents relatively calm and traversable water. There are quite a number of monsters which make their home in the ocean, on par in strength with many forest and mountain enemies.
Miracle Warriors terrain water stormy.png Stormy water Once you gain a far sturdier vessel, you will be capable of sailing the angry seas which surround Areos. However, the danger of these seas does not come from the rough travel conditions created by the storms, but by the ferocious monsters that you will undoubtedly encounter while you sail through that region. Many can rival desert monsters in power.
