The ice world is your next destination. There are two ways to reach the ice world from the jungle world. Both paths exists on the western edge of the jungle. You must avoid falling into all the holes strewn about the world. Collecting the Spike shoes from the Jungle world will help considerably. There are two bosses to find here, as well as a number of other useful items.

Obtaining the map[edit]

  1. Enter the Ice World from the higher of the two Jungle paths. Cross over the mountainous terrain all the way to the left.
  2. When you arrive in the new section, first run to the right. Enter the cave at the far end to collect the Power Boots.
  3. Then turn around and run all the way to the right. If you activate the Power Boots, you will run faster, but take care not to fall into any holes. You may want to deactivate them when crossing the platform bridge.
  4. In the next area, run to the right. You will pass two stone faces. The second stone face should say "07". Enter the door immediately following that face.
  5. Run to the door that you see when you arrive to collect the map. Immediately return to the same house to collect a third Jar.

  • You can obtain a Boomerang from the Laser Sword house after you receive the Laser Sword.
  • You can obtain a Jar from the map house after you receive the map.

Collecting items[edit]

  • After you collect the map, run to the left side of the screen. In the next area, continue running all the way to the left. You'll end up in an area with ice pillars in the background. Run to the right and you'll see two doors. Skip the first door (it contains a monster which hurts you) and enter the second. Let the man in here see your sword. He will upgrade it to the Laser Sword. You may reenter this home to stock up on Boomerangs.
    • When you finish, walk a short distance to the right. You will see a down arrow. If you follow it, you will see a door. If you enter the door with 6 hit points or more, a monster will attack you for one point of damage. If you enter the door with 5 hit points or less, you will get a drink that restores two points.
  • Return to the Laser Sword door and run to the right. You will enter a cave. Take the upper path that leads over the door, and takes you to a second door beyond. Enter that second door to collect a fourth Jar. (Remember to use up your Jars to refuel your health before collecting the next Jar, as all of your Jars will be refilled.)

Finding the boss[edit]

After you collect the fourth Jar, you are practically at the boss location. Continue walking a little farther to the right, and you will come to a large gap in the floor. Both the Valis Boots and the Power Boots will help you leap over this gap and reach the entrance beyond. This is the gate to the boss area, which will only open if you have the Laser Sword.

Compared to the other bosses you've fought, this boss is considerably easy. He will rise up from the gap at the far right end of the floor, fly up to about mid-screen, and slowly drop back down before flying back up again. He will repeat this pattern forever, and shoot arrow-shaped projectiles at you at various heights. All you must do is fire the Laser Sword at him while doing your best to dodge all of his shots. Only the top half of the boss is vulnerable. You should have little trouble beating this boss, but you can use the Boomerang to increase your chances of hitting him if need be. After he is defeated, the next Phantasm Jewelry will fall from the sky.

Encounter Reiko[edit]

After beating the boss, continue running to the right. Soon you will see another woman who happens to be a friend and classmate of Yuko's in the real world. Her name is Reiko. Yuko is startled to see Reiko in the dream world, but Reiko does not chat with Yuko for long before launching an attack on her.

Reiko's strategy is usually to chase you to either side of the screen, where she will corner you and squat down so that you can't simply duck under her attacks. For this reason, you are more vulnerable, but slightly better off by squatting in the middle of the screen, and attacking her on either side of you. She may cross back and forth quite frequently, but you will ultimately take less damage than if you tried to cross back and forth from one side of the screen to the other. Be prepared to drink one or two of your Jars if need be.

As soon as Yuko defeat Reiko, Reiko confesses that Rogles lured her by granting her the power she always desired. Yuko tries to apologize, but Reiko informs her that she must search for the Valis Sword in the caves before falling unconscious.

Obtaining the Lamp[edit]

Find the lamp here

Before you dive into the caves, you'll need to collect the Lamp to brighten the darkness. Return to the location where you collected the map, and run to the right edge of the screen. You will be back to the stone face which says "07". Continue running to the right until reach the next stone face which says "09". There is a down arrow just before (to the left) of that face. Follow it, and enter the door that you see upon arriving in the new area. You will receive the Lamp, and you can reenter the building to obtain the Valis Quake item. This item is usable, just like the Bombs and Boomerangs, but you may only ever hold one of them at a time. With the Lamp, you are now ready to explore the underground.
