If you go to the pause menu, you will see that you have an inventory. There are eight sections;

  1. Items, for healing items and objects obtained by catching friendly animals
  2. Accessories, for clothing
  3. Key Items, for important items
  4. Tools, for tools you can use
  5. Bugs, for insects you have caught
  6. Fish, for fish you have caught
  7. Flowers, for flowers you have found
  8. Fruits/Vegetables, for fruits and vegetables you have found

Items can be used to gain back your health, or they can be used to make new objects in the Fashion House.

[edit] Healing Items

You can use healing items to get your health back or cure poison. Different items restore different amounts of health, and it is advisable to take some with you when you go to fight Ivlet. You may find them in an area or they can be bought from the Drug Store.

These items will be changed into a new type of clothing if you bring them to Sheila at the Fashion House. They can be obtained by using the catch action on an animal.
