Head down the slope in the Southeast of South Pawville and you will see Sheila with a question mark over her head.
The Legendary Pattern[edit]
If you talk to Sheila outside the Fashion House, you will see how bad the damage is. Sheila will tell you that the Fashion House can be repaired, but what she really wants to do is to cheer the others up a bit. She wants to find something called the Legendary Pattern. Apparently, there was once a fashion designer in Pawville called Townsend who owned it, and before he died, he gave it to his son, Sai. Sai ran away and hasn't been seen since. Sheila asks if you can find him, and tells you that Ada might know more. Ada can be found in the Police Station in North Pawville.
When you talk to Ada, she will tell you that Augusta saw Sai not long ago. She says that you can find Augusta in Dolphin Coast.
If you talk to Augusta, she'll tell you that she saw Sai out by Lappy Lake, so you should go there. When you get to Lappy Lake, you will see Sai on the island in the middle of the lake. If you talk to him, he tells you that he'll give you the Legendary Pattern, but only if you bring him some of Ione's Homemade Pie.[1]
Homemade Pie[edit]
When you talk to your mother, she recalls when Sai was young, and she used to cook Homemade Pie for him and his father. She then tells you that to cook some Homemade Pie, she needs some Cherries or Apples, depending on which type of pie Sai has asked for. She says that you can find the fruit in Whisker Woods.
Fruits are not special items, so they are tracked by the yellow indicator. Therefore, unless you have found some of that fruit before, it can be hard to find them, as there are many different normal items in Whisker Woods. You can find some Cherries in the grass near the broken bridge, indicated with a "No Entrance" symbol on the map, on the west side of Whisker Woods. You can find an Apple on the first turn in the path you come to after coming to the level from Pawville. When you have them, you need to take them to Ione yourself.
Ione makes some Homemade Pie, and you take it to Sai. He thanks you and gives you the Legendary Pattern. You take the Legendary Pattern to Sheila. She thanks you, and the Fashion House is open again. She tells you that Charles at the Aquarium also needs your help.
The Sign Wood[edit]
Charles will tell you that a carpenter can fix up the Aquarium, but the sign the kittens or puppies made has been demolished and they will be very upset. He thinks they would be happier if you got some Sign Wood, so that they can make a new one. Charles teaches you the smell of Sign Wood, and tells you that you can find some in Whisker Woods.
While in Whisker Woods, go over the first bridge and turn right when you come to the broken staircase. Cross another bridge and you will find the Sign Wood where the path ends. You take it to Charles.
Charles thanks you, the Aquarium is fixed, and he teaches you what you can do there. Then he suggests that if you are looking for a deed to do, Godfrey's Waterwheel suffered damage from Ivlet, and you could help him.
Music while you work[edit]
If you talk to Godfrey in North Pawville, you will see his broken waterwheel. He asks you to ask Stanley to fix it now. When you talk to Stanley, who is also in North Pawville, he tells you that Godfrey's waterwheel will have to wait. Stanley is already very busy repairing houses, and asks you to tell Godfrey that he'll have to be patient, because other people have lost their homes.
Godfrey respects that the others have bigger problems than him, but he wishes that Stanley could work three times faster. He asks you to go and talk to Arvin, and see if there is a way to speed up Stanley's work.
Arvin will tell you that there is a way of making someone work three times faster. He tells you that if there was something someone really liked, for example cookies, you could promise them some cookies and they might work faster. He tells you that you need to work out what Stanley really likes. So you need to go back to North Pawville and talk to him again.
Stanley will tell you that he really likes music, but doesn't know how to get any, so you should ask your father about it. You go back to Arvin to tell him what you found out. He tells you that he has heard of an insect called the Orchestra Insect (Male) which plays music by rubbing its wings together. To find out where you can locate one, Arvin suggests you to talk to Professor Warren at Dolphin Coast.
When you get to Dolphin Coast, Warren will be walking around near the fishing pier on the north of the beach. When you talk to him, he tells you that he knows about the Orchestra Insect (Male). There are also females, but the males are the only ones who can play music, as this is how they propose to the females. Warren tells you that there used to be Orchestra Insect (Male)s everywhere, but as the villagers expanded their living space, there have been fewer of them. Still, he tells you that he saw one in Jade Fields.
When you get to Jade Fields, follow the path and go around the edge of the big stone wall. You will see two Bears here. You need to stun the one on the west side, then you will find the Orchestra Insect (Male) at the edge of the cliff. You take it to Stanley.
Stanley thanks you and says that now he can work three times as fast, he should have the water wheel fixed in no time. He asks if you have learned the action Call yet. He tells you that Sai is a master of it, and that he is at Lappy Lake now.
Calling critters[edit]
When you get to Lappy Lake, Sai will call to you. You see that he is riding toward you on a Hippo. He tells you that he will teach you how to call if you can get one of Ione's Pear Tarts. Then he goes back to a ledge on the north side of the lake which can only be reached using Call.
If you go back to your house, your mother will tell you that she will make a Pear Tart, but she doesn't have any pears. You can find a pear at Lappy Lake, on the large round island in the southeastern part of the lake. Find the pear, and take it to Ione.
She thanks you and makes a Pear Tart, then you take it to Sai. In return, he teaches you how to Call. Then he tells you that Godfrey has another problem, and you should check it out.
