Phantom Brave is a strategy RPG for the PlayStation 2 console, developed by Nippon Ichi Software. It was the first title published by the company's American branch, NIS America. A port for the Wii console was recently announced, titled Phantom Brave: We Meet Again, with a Japanese release date of March 12, 2009, and an expected US release in June. The Wii port is expected to have some additions similar (though perhaps fewer) to the recent handheld ports of Disgaea.
Fans of Disgaea will see some similarities between the titles, though there are notable changes in the battle system and the story has no relation to that of NIS' main franchise. The grid movement system is gone in favor of a system based on free movement throughout the field (limited by the character's movement rate). Characters are "confined" to objects in the field (including items dropped by other characters and enemies) rather than spawned from a particular point on the map.
