In addition to just being able to run around, capture capsules, and cast skills you can also use your character's special mobility/evasive maneuver. Characters can jump, cartwheel, or tumble.
- Jumping allows you to get on top of small structures, and jump fences, etc. It is also very easy to avoid Hole and Crawl type attacks with this maneuver.
- Tumbling rolls your character in the direction they are facing. It has no recovery time allowing you to gain ground on fleeing opponents as well as dodge shell, arc, rain, and other attack types much more easily than jumping, but it is harder to dodge Hole or Crawl type attacks.
- Cartwheeling is similar to tumbling in that it rolls your character in the direction they are facing. It is more sudden, making it easier to dodge attacks, but you must recover after using it, making it useless for dodging quickly repeated attacks, or chasing opponents.
Each character's move is predefined, and cannot be changed. You can also select special characters or monsters in multiplayer mode by holding down both shoulder buttons when you select a character. These characters may have strange maneuvers that are not like the ones listed above.
