Pokémon Gold and Silver/Lighthouse

The lighthouse has a lot of trainers in it, you may need to heal a lot of times to get to the top. The easiest way to get to the top is go down the hole to the left of the girl in 4F, then go up the stairs and you get some good items along the way. It is recommended to have an electric type as your first Pokémon (if you got Elekid from the egg then that is perfect). Almost all of the trainers here specialize in water or flying, making electric types a must-have. It becomes incredibly easy if you have one.

When you get to Jasmine, she wants you to get some medicine for the Pokémon from Cianwood, so get on your Pokémon and surf there.

Jasmine, the Olivine City Gym Leader is attending to the sick ampharos that provides the light for the lighthouse, and cannot leave her post. She puts you in charge with finding some medicine (which can be found in Cianwood City) for the sick Pokémon, and bringing it to her.
