After the events in the previous chapter, your starters find themselves in the future, in a jail cell. You explore the room, eventually testing the gate bars. Shortly after this, six Sableye enter the cell, and with your starters blindfolded tie them in a stockade. When the blindfolds are removed they not only find themselves next to each other but Grovyle tied next to you. Then you are given escape options from him and, using the correct one, manage to break free when attacked by the Fury Swipes attacks launched by the Sableye, who apparently are Dusknoir's underlings. With cover from a Luminous Orb while in the room and the darkness out, the three manage to escape, with the partner being tired on the way. He/she asks if they can wait until morning to continue, but in reply Grovyle says no, that because of frozen time, there is no morning. Though the partner admits that the future they are in is similar to the description provided by Dusknoir, he/she refuses to work with Grovyle, who then continues ahead. Then, after hearing the Sableye's voices, you and your partner prepare for Chasm Cave.

Chasm Cave[edit]

Chasm Cave is the first of the future dungeons. You unlock it by first clearing Crystal Crossing, then completing three random missions. Since it is in the future, you cannot revisit it unless you attempt a Friend Rescue. It has eight floors.

Pokémon
  • Magnemite Floors B1F-B8F
  • Magneton Floors B1F-B8F
  • Onix Floors B1F-B8F
  • Ditto Floors B1F-B8F
  • Skarmory Floors B1F-B8F
  • Grumpig Floors B1F-B8F
  • Drifloon Floors B1F-B8F
  • Drifblim Floors B1F-B8F

Now that you've gone through it, you and your partner find a water spring, but the partner soon finds out that the water is suspended. You then attempt to touch it to use the Dimensional Scream in an attempt to know more thoroughly about the said situation, but instead nothing happens. Hearing the Sableye again, you continue through Dark Hill.

Dark Hill[edit]

Dark Hill is the second of the future dungeons. You unlock it by completing Chasm Cave. Since it is in the future, you cannot revisit it unless you attempt a Friend Rescue. It has 15 floors. There are a lot of useful TMs here.

Pokémon
  • Gastly Floors 1F-15F
  • Haunter Floors 1F-15F
  • Gengar Floors 1F-15F
  • Misdreavus Floors 1F-15F
  • Claydol Floors 1F-15F
  • Banette Floors 1F-15F
  • Dusclops Floors 1F-15F
  • Gliscor Floors 1F-15F

Now the starters pass a cliff. Your partner notices a cluster of lights from the stockade and loses his/her hope. You attempt to cheer him/her up, and as you start to continue, the partner tells you that he/she understands what they were trying to do and promises to remain brave. You then continue on to Sealed Ruins to try to catch up to Grovyle.

Sealed Ruins[edit]

Sealed Ruins is the third of the future dungeons and the last of which to be completed in this Chapter, unlocked by completing Dark Hill. Since it is in the future, you cannot revisit it unless you attempt a Friend Rescue. It has eight main floors, an interior of six floors, and a most interior part. Its boss is Spiritomb.

Pokémon
  • Muk Floors B1F-IB6F
  • Forretress Floors B1F-IB6F
  • Shelgon Floors B1F-IB6F
  • Metang Floors B1F-IB6F
  • Tangrowth Floors B1F-IB6F
  • Probopass Floors B1F-IB6F
  • Spiritomb Floors Most Interior Part (boss)

After you proceed to the interior areas, Grovyle gets attacked by the Spiritomb. Eventually you and your partner arrive at the most interior part and battle Spiritomb. Eventually after Spiritomb is defeated, he runs off and releases Grovyle. Grovyle then explains that the darkness of the future drives many Pokémon, such as the previously mentioned Spiritomb, insane at times when they otherwise would be completely innocent. You will leave the room and Grovyle tells you and your partner how and why this future came to be and his attempts to keep it from happening. You then leaves for Dusk Forest.
