Located on top of a cliff, the people in this sleepy town are mostly researchers and tourists. The town boasts many attractions, from its Pokemon aquarium to the fossil lab. It is also a resting point for people looking to trek to the Glittering Cave to the east.

Clues in the fossils[edit]

As you enter Ambrette Town, you'll find Calum/Serena waiting for you there. They are still investigating about Mega Pokemon, and says that you might find some clues in the Fossil Lab. Calum/Serena will follow you in and ask about Mega Evolution. The scientists there doesn't know anything about the myth, but suggests that you may find clues reviving fossil Pokemon. There is a machine in the lab that can do such a thing, but the only scientist that can operate it is currently at Glittering Cave. Looks like that's your next destination!

Natural sciences and more[edit]

Pokemon Center[edit]

The Pokemon Center isn't very exciting. The trainers staying there will talk about fossil Pokemon. The PokeMart sells the usual items.

Fossil lab[edit]

The fossil lab lets you revive prehistoric Pokemon from ancient fossils. You can find fossils in Glittering Cave, but most of them are only available after you beat the main story. If you have Genesect from an event or a past game, you can talk to the Hiker to get the Burn, Chill, Douse and Shock Drives, which alter the typing of Genesect's Techno Blast. If you have Deoxys, there are also several meteorites on the shelf that lets Deoxys switch between its various formes. One of the scientists will give you an Aerodactylite after returning from Glittering Cave.

Ambrette Aquarium[edit]

Ambrette has a small aquarium open to all, where one can view various water Pokemon. You can enter free of charge, and it connects the lower part of Route 8 with Ambrette Town. However, you can't go into Route 8 until you return from Glittering Cave. In front of the golden Magikarp statue, you will find a fisherman that gives you an Old Rod, letting you fish for various Pokemon!

Hotel Ambrette[edit]

Like Camphrier Town, Ambrette Town has a hotel of its own. Once again, there isn't an option to stay in this hotel. Go to the right side of the lobby and talk to the girl to get TM96 Nature Power, an attack that changes into different moves depending on where you use it. For instance, it becomes Energy Ball when fighting around tall grass and Earth Power on sandy terrain. However, the attack usually manifests itself as Tri Attack in buildings and on link battles.

At the top floor, the first room will contain the usual rotation of travelers that you can find in every hotel in Kalos. There will be a woman staying in the second room every Monday. Talk to her when she appears to receive the Alert Ribbon, which will be attached to your lead Pokemon. You'll meet Mr. Bonding again in the third room. This time, he bestows upon you the Sp. Def Power O-Power.

Other places of interest[edit]

There is only one residential building here. Although the inhabitants inside have heard some interesting rumors, the only person you should talk to is the girl in the purple clothes. Once a day, this trainer wants to see a Pokemon with a Speed stat equal or greater than the number she requests. If you can fulfill her wish, she will give you a Health Wing. The Health Wing increases your Pokemon's HP stat minutely when consumed. Specifically, it gives them 1 HP Effort Value, up to a maximum of 255 EVs.

From the Pokemon Center, walk down the alley to the right to reach an isolated section of Route 8, where you'll find a Heart Scale. The woman outside the Pokemon Center will give you TM94 Rock Smash. This weak Fighting-type attack is most valued for its overworld use, which is to break cracked rocks. Not only can you clear paths by using Rock Smash, you can also find items and Pokemon inside. Talk to the punk beside the lab and he will offer to trade a Dive Ball for your Poke Ball. Dive Balls are better at catching Pokemon that live on the water, including those you fish up, but has no drawbacks compared to a regular Poke Ball. This trade is absolutely in your favor, but you can only do it once per day.

At the gate to Route 9, talk to the girl near the table to get the Rocky Helmet. This held item causes opposing Pokemon to take damage when they directly attack the wearer. You can equip it on a bulky Pokemon which can tank hits well to better wear foes down.

Old Rod Pokemon in Central Kalos[edit]

Once you've obtained the Old Rod, you can return to Central Kalos to catch some of the Pokemon you've missed. Possible fishing spots are on Route 3, Route 22 and Parfum Palace.
