The navigation of the Red Steel menus is done using the pointer function of the Wii remote. The A button is used to select menu items, some options need to be dragged to the billboard to be chosen.

In game controls

Wii Remote The pointer function of the Wii remote is used for aiming, if it is pointed towards the edge or the screen. you look up or down, or turn left or right. The speed at which you turn, and how far towards the edge of the screen you have to move the pointer to start turning is decided by the "Aiming sensitivity" option, which can either be changed in the in-game pause menu, or in the main menu options.

A button: focus on an enemy to lock on. B button: fire the current weapon (hold down for continuous fire). + button: pause the game. 1 button: In multi-player mode, activate bonus. D pad Down: get out a grenade (throw it by either flicking the nunchuk in an overarm throwing motion, or press the B button to throw a grenade. move the nunchuk up in an under arm throwing motion to roll a grenade along the floor) Left: reload Right: switch gun. Note, you can only carry two guns at a time.

Nunchuk Control stick: Move. Z button: Crouch. C button: Jump, except whilst holding A in which case it causes you to enter focus mode.

Flicking the nunchuk can be used to do many actions, depending on the circumstances; While next to an enemy or obstacle: hit it/them with your sword, this destroys some obstacles and kills any enemy (In multi-player it only stuns an enemy) While by a table: knock over the table to use it as cover. While by a door: open door. Whilst standing near a dropped gun: pick up the gun to replace current gun(the replaced gun either becomes your second gun, or if you already have a second gun, it is dropped). When none of these apply: reload.
