The beginning cutscene shows an adult Claire Redfield now working for a new company, Terra Save. Moira Burton follows along and gives Claire a hug. While another worker talks to Claire, it is revealed that Moira has an estranged relationship with her father. Just before Moira is able to talk to Claire again, the lights go out, a helicopter shines a light on them, and the two duck for cover as bullets fly before a soldier gives Claire an injection that causes her to pass out while Moira screams, ending this cutscene.

Tutorial[edit]

Pick up the knife on the desk.

After the scene, Claire wakes up in a jail cell. Follow the path down the hall and Claire will start to hear Moira. Approach Moira's cell and press the button onscreen to be reunited with her. Go through the newly-unlocked door at the end of the hall and continue forward. Open the door and follow the walkway up; jump across the gap and climb up the ladder when you come across them. Drop down after shimmying across the wall to reach the end of the walkway, where it splits. Follow the new path and Claire and Moira will hear some screams. At this point, you should see a blue door spattered in blood. Walk past it into the next room, where Claire can pick the knife up off the table; Moira also receives her flashlight here. Return to the blue door and smash through the glass with a melee attack.

Fight the zombie off with melee attacks.

Jump through the window and continue to follow the bloody trail. Interact with the shelf blocking the hall and Claire will lift it, allowing Moira to pass. Moira will do the same on the other side; crouch to fit past it. Push the next shelf to experience your first zombie attack; as the game suggests, ward it away with melee attacks. Keep pushing the shelf afterward, and follow the zombie as it pursues the woman. Pick up an herb in plain sight and crouch under a desk until Claire and Moira reach a gate. Interact with the gate and the girls will lift it and keep moving. Pass Gina to find the exit; unfortunately, Claire and Moira need an Experimental Block Key to pass. Head down the stairs until you come across a corpse hanging by the walkway. Interact with it for a scene. The goal now becomes recovering the key.

Learning to fight a zombie[edit]

Head through the newly-unlocked door and follow the path past the double doors, through the medical room, and down the ladder to reach the corpse. Interact with it and Claire will acquire a handgun. Now, have Moira shine her light up on the tank above the corpse to find the keys (this requires switching characters in single-player mode). Shoot them down after Moira comments and pick up the Experiment Block Key. After that's done, zombies burst out from adjacent rooms to attack the pair. Claire doesn't have enough ammo to deal with them all at this point, so retreat; climb up the ladder and backtrack to the locked door. Open it using the key and make your way through to find a pleasant surprise by another corpse. Pick up the shotgun and knife through all the boxes for herbs and ammo.

Tower emblem: Before you go all the way to the locked room, get to where you and Moira drop the corpse with the key. You can't reach it with the ladder up close. Instead, use like a pistol and shoot the tower emblem at a distance. To be clear, it's a small blue circle. But that's just the first one. Continue on the game to get some more to find out what the Tower Emblem truly is on the Special Features section.

Find the crowbar on a shelf.

After the conversation, have Moira approach shelf to the left of the exit in the corner of the room. There are some sparkles here; simply point the flashlight to reveal the items. Pick up the crowbar and interact with the door to pry the board off. Make your way through and lift the gate. After ascending the stairs, the Overseer will begin to communicate with Claire and Moira through their bracelets. Continue on into the open area and pick up the Detention Center Map on the desk to the left. Make a right turn and follow the path toward a door. Head through it and into the room with the torture device. There's a gear stuck inside, but ignore it for now. Boost Moira up to the right of the room, where a damaged ladder can be seen. As Moira, open the Military Box and unlock the door for Claire. In the next room, Claire can find a tourniquet and a Parts Box (which she can use to upgrade a weapon at the nearby workbench). After collecting and upgrading, climb up the ladder to reunite with Moira and head through the next door.

A puzzling prison[edit]

Keep following the path through unlocked doors until you reach an area with prison cells; a zombie will pop out of one of these. Deal with it and continue forward into a room with numerous paths. Turn left and head down the stairs. If you wish to conserve ammo, you can ignore the zombies for now and head through the nearby door. Pick up the Exploding Bottle and the Rusty Key. Leave and use the key on the door down the hall on the other side of the area to find the trash compactor room. Drop down and knife the bugs, then boost Moira up to the other side. As Moira, pull the lever to turn on the power and blind the zombie by aiming a flashlight on the way back. As Claire, find the opening on the incoming ledge and climb up to be reunited with Moira. Return to the previous hall, where the traps are in full effect. Head up the stairs and into the room where you'll find another Military Box for Moira to open and an exploding bottle. Keep following the path back into the open room, and backtrack to the torture device.

Heading for the communication tower[edit]

Pull the lever after turning on the power to gain access to the Gear Kog.

Activate the torture device with the lever close by it and pick up the Gear Kog. Leave to the room where you picked up the map, and insert the Gear Kog into the wall by the gate. Unfortunately, as the gate opens, so do the prison cells holding many zombies at bay. Have Moira work on getting the boards off the door with the crowbar while Claire turns the large device in the center of the room to face the entrance, then turn the nozzle in the room's right corner to activate the fire trap. If you decide to use only weapons and sub-weapons in your possession here, however, you will obtain an achievement/trophy. Exit and follow the grassy path toward a bridge (to the right of this area is the final Military Box). Jump across the bridge, enter the building, and interact with the controls for a scene that concludes Claire and Moira's first episode.
