You wake up on a beach surrounded by dead bodies. The only other survivor is a woman called Sara. Talk to her and you will get your first quest, finding a weapon. You can grab the club and branch from the fallen tree beside her (the branch is sticking out from its roots), but if you want something better head to the far east and search the body there for a Hunting knife, which is an excellent early weapon. Continue searching along the shoreline in both directions to find items and corpses (search the corpses for additional loot), most importantly gold, but watch out for the Sea vultures. Head to the far left and push forwards into the trees, hugging the wall on the left; soon you will come to a little nook in the rock with a rusty sword, small shield and healing potion. Don't go any further inland just yet; for now, head back to Sara.

Killed your first monster.

Lead Sara northeast along the path just behind where she was standing. Here you will face a sea vulture. Draw your weapon with PC Mouse Middle Click.png. This monster has two basic attacks: pecking at close range and a flying nosedive at a distance. Try to keep close to the vulture, blocking its attacks with PC Mouse Right Click.png and attacking with PC Mouse Left Click.png when you get the chance. Loot its body for some raw chicken. You can't eat it raw, but after cooking it on a fire or stove you can eat it to restore lost health.

Further along you will face a stingrat. Stingrats attack by ramming into you, but unlike the vulture the stingrat can make several attacks in a very short period of time; you may need to block two or three hits from the stingrat before you get a chance to make your own attack. If it starts attacking while you are not blocking be sure to block immediately, otherwise it will kill you very quickly. Loot its body for some meat. Just along the path to the right you will find a Druid's hemlock; eat it to permanently increase your life points. The wolf further along the path attacks very differently; it will dodge around all over the place trying to get around behind you, so watch out. When it is dead check the guard's body for some gold; gold is very valuable early in the game, so you should collect it whenever you can.

Continue up the path, gathering plants and items and killing monsters. You will come to a house. Head on in and grab everything you see. Sleeping in the bed will completely regenerate your life energy while drinking from the water barrel behind the house will partially refill it with each sip. The key beside the bed will allow you to open the chest. Take everything in the chest, and then use the fire to cook some fried meat for Sara. She says she will stay at the house for now, so you are free to explore. Now you can go back and explore the area around the shoreline. You will find a few more enemies to fight as well as a sword and shield (if you didn't get it already) and various herbs. You will also find a cave with some gnomes. These little creatures are quite a challenge at this point as they attack quickly, dodging all over the place to avoid your blows, and will throw things at you if they are far enough away. With a few good swings you will be able to take them down one by one. Loot the chests in the caves here (be sure to loot the skeleton too). There is an ore deposit on the wall here but you can't do anything with it yet, so proceed through the caves to come out on the path you took to reach the house.

Explored the first ruin.

When you are properly equipped and ready to move on, continue up the path to the north beside the house. Further along this path you will find a ruin sticking up out of the ground. Head inside. There is a trapdoor trap in this ruin. For the purposes of the game's tutorial you will need to trigger the trap by walking onto it. In the area below you will fight a grave moth. These oversized bugs attack repeatedly, like stingrats, but they are most dangerous in groups; as long as you block and attack in the opening you should be able to take this one down easily. Loot the chests and pull the lever to continue. Head up the steps and walk around the trapdoor this time.

Found the first map.

Continue up the path and into the house. The man here, Jan, will challenge you but decides you are harmless. He suggests you look around this ransacked house to find a better weapon. The key in the cupboard unlocks the chest upstairs; there you will find a better sword as well as an incomplete map of the island.

Found help for Sara.

Tell Jan about Sara to complete her quest.

Jan will offer to guide you to the two major centers near here, Harbor Town and the bandit camp. Because of the way the game is structured it is best to go to the bandit camp first to get gold and experience that will really help in the early stages of the game, but you can go to Harbor Town first if you wish to. This walkthrough will explore the bandit camp next.
