Mission Targets[edit]

In every mission, there is one particular target that you will attempt to bomb in order to earn a 10,000 point successful mission bonus. There may, however, be other targets along the way that you can also earn bonus points by destroying. When you strike a target with a bomb, you will earn 1000 points if you hit it directly in the center and demolish the entire target. If you only hit the left wing or the right, you will earn 500 points instead, and you will not earn a bonus for that target at the end of the mission. The Air Successor is the final enemy. It makes a brief appearance in Mission 11, and appears in the final showdown at the end of Mission 21.

Billboards[edit]

Through certain missions in Sky Kid, you will fly over different billboards. Some billboards are just for show, while other billboards have a special property. If you perform a loop over these special billboards, one of two items will appear. If a good item appears, you can collect it for 1000 points. But if a bad item appears, avoid it or it will cause you to crash.

Hidden Bonuses[edit]

There are three types of hidden bonuses. They must be shot in order to be revealed and collect, so you must know the exact location to fire upon. The arcade mission walkthrough will reveal their location. These bonuses are not present in the NES version.

Name Object Missions Bonus
Special
Flag
Sky Kid S Flag.png 4, 8, 14 These flags, which first appeared in Rally-X, and were later hidden in Xevious, will grant you an extra life.
Pooka Sky Kid Pooka.png 10 This recognizable Dig Dug enemy appears only once in the whole game. Collecting it will remove any damage from a player's plane.
Medal Sky Kid Medal.png 5, 12, 17, 18, 19 In addition to the 1000 point bonus you will receive for collecting this medal, the enemy's rate of fire will temporarily decrease.

Changeable objects[edit]

There are a handful of objects which change in appearance when you fly past them, perform a loop on them, or shoot at them.

Name Object Description
Cheer
Girl
Sky Kid Cheer Girl.png
Sky Kid Pink Puff.png
Cheer Girls like to show up when Baron or Max is about to land. They cheer their heroes on when the mission is complete. However, are the Cheer Girls really what they appear to be? If you shoot them, you may be surprised by the result.

Liberty
Sky Kid Statue of Liberty.gif While Lady Liberty may appear like an imposing statue, you can actually fly safely through her. In fact, if you happen to fly past her legs, her skirt will blow open in a Marilyn Monroe like pose.
Castle Sky Kid Castle.gif These quaint castles are more than just scenery. Fly past them and a surprise will pop out of the roof.
The Light
in
the Sky
Sky Kid Sun Light.gif When you see something bright peeking out of the clouds, you may be tempted to loop past it and blow away the clouds. If you do, you'll learn the truth about what really lights the sky.
Graves Sky Kid Grave.png Normally still and silent, Baron and Max may encounter a grave yard near the end of their missions. Shooting the graves effectively awakens the dead who begin to peek outside their tombs to find out what all the racket is.
The Sun
&
the Moon
Sky Kid Sun Moon.gif DX only. Whenever you come across either object in the sky, you can perform a loop on them and change them from one to the other. You will earn 1000 points for doing so, and the sky will change to the appropriate color.
Snowman Sky Kid Snowman.gif DX only. There is exactly one snowman in all of Sky Kid Deluxe, and he can only be found in Mission X3. If you fly past him, you'll find that a lot more went into creating him than just snow.
Penguins Sky Kid Penguin.png
Sky Kid Beer.png
DX only. What's more natural than finding penguins in the arctic? Finding beer in the arctic. Since Cheer Girls won't stand in the freezing snow to cheer you on, penguins take their place towards the end of the X missions. Shoot them to discover their frozen secret.
