Solomon's Key, as a game in general, is stage driven. Once you complete one stage, you move on to the next, presumably more difficult stage. In this sense, the arcade (and the computer versions based on the original arcade) and home console versions are identical. However, the arcade and console versions differ in their approach to hidden stages and items. They present the stages in a different order, and some items are more important towards receiving the best ending in the console version. It is interesting to note that the console version was never considered a direct arcade port, but a "sister version" of the arcade game having been released in the same year that was intended to be similar, yet subtly different from the arcade in presentation.
