[edit] Egg Hornet

[edit] Before the battle

After arriving at the workshop, both Tails and Sonic are surprised to see Eggman waiting for them. In the verbal encounter, sonic states that Eggman looks like "A giant talking egg" (The explanation for how Robotnik's name was changed in regions outside Japan) while Eggman insists that they hand over the chaos emerald. After refusing, Eggman gets annoyed and begins to attack.

The battle begins with Eggman flying around in the background, releasing missiles with slight homing capability. Use the large, open terrain to pick up speed and outrun the attack. After a small period of time, the egg hornet will stop in mid-air, then launch itself at your location in a flashing red blur. Quickly move out of the way, and turn to face the craft again, as it now drills itself into the ground. Attack with a homing jump and it will fire off back into the air, ready to battle again.

The attack then repeats itself, with the only difference being that the Egg Hornet will fire off more missiles each round. It can be defeated in three hits.

[edit] Aftermath

Eggman is seemingly defeated, but as Tails drops his guard and reveals the emerald a mechanical hand appears out of the back of Eggman's craft and snatches it. Victorious, Eggman summons Chaos and throws the emerald in his direction. As Chaos grows and becomes more powerful, the plan is explained—once Chaos has grown to maximum strength by absorbing all the seven chaos emeralds, Station Square will be destroyed and Eggmanland will be built upon its ruins. Eggman, departs, and Tails comments that the only way to stop him is to get to the Chaos Emeralds before he does.
