This zone is basically a massive oil rig balanced upon an ocean of oil and, rather fittingly, comes with Arabic-style background music. Due to the thickness of the oil it is possible to keep jumping in it, so as not to die. Giant gas pressure stoves pop their large lids high into the air which Sonic can jump on to reach higher levels and/or collect rings. The zone is filled with oil slides which can be coasted down but with caution otherwise Sonic will end up in the ocean. Badniks include a pink octopus who jumps up frequently to fire a slow-moving projectile at Sonic, and a nasty flying seahorse that follows Sonic and fires faster projectiles. Robotnik appears in the ocean between two platforms and deploys an indestructible serpent-like robot which rears it's head and fires three laser shots at Sonic. Afterwards Robotnik surfaces to check out the damage and that's when Sonic can lay into him.
