Star Wars: Battlefront II/Infantry

Rebels are, in line with franchise lore, the shabbiest-looking but the bravest faction of the four main ones available in the game. They may have no armor, but this doesn't give them any disadvantage in comparison to the white-clad Imperial troops. The Rebels in Battlefront II are comprised of humans, Bothans, and Wookiees, all of whom receive damages from being underwater for too long and being out in space.
 Rebel Soldier
A basic infantry unit. The Rebel Soldier is equipped with a blaster rifle, a blaster pistol, and four thermal detonators. Like all "Soldier" classes, the unit is well rounded out and acts as a grunt. On the Death Star and Tantive IV map, this unit is dressed in gray, black and white with a hat; on all others the Rebel Soldier is an older man in camouflage colors.
 Rebel Vanguard
An anti-vehicular unit that comes with two grenades and three landmines (the mines often destroy vehicles in one shot). His rocket launcher contains seven shots and is very popular in online play due to its strength and wide damage radius. Also, the Vanguard is equipped with a pistol for emergencies.
 Rebel Marksman
A sniper unit equipped with a sniper rifle, blaster pistol, two grenades, and an automatic turret that can be deployed to attack any incoming enemies until destroyed. There are two versions of this unit: on the Tantive IV map, the Marksman is a male character with the same outfit as all other Tantive IV soldiers, and on all other maps the Marksman is actually a woman (the only non-hero female character in the game).
 Rebel Smuggler
An engineer unit that uses a shotgun and a fusion cutter (used to repair vehicles and droids, build turrets, or forcibly remove enemies from vehicles). The Smuggler has two types of secondary weapons: three detpacks (a remotely triggered explosive) and five health and ammo packs. You can only have one detpack planted at a time, and while the health and ammo packs replenish detpack ammo, it will NOT give you more packs (they must be obtained from ammunition droids).
 Bothan Spy
These are Bothans capable of turning invisible for short periods of time. He can also use his incinerator to turn enemy units to dust quickly. The Spy comes with one health regeneration pack (only works if there are injured friendly units nearby, and heals them also) and three very powerful time bombs.
 Wookie Warrior
A heavy unit that has more health than any other unit in the game. Its bowcaster weapon is a combination of a sniper rifle and a shotgun (shells spread but it can be zoomed to fire at long distance), and its grenade launcher shoots what are essentially normal grenades carried by other units (it can also be charged to go farther). The Wookies' secondary weapons are four grenades and a recon droid capable of both laser fire and a massive self-destruct.
 Rebel Pilot(Space only)
These units have the ability to auto-repair any starfighter they are currently occupying, and also can repair it from the outside with a fusion cutter. They are equipped with a commando pistol (essentially a more powerful, faster cooling version of the regular pistol), a fusion cutter and three time bombs. These are better for dogfighting than marines because of the auto-repair ability, but with only a pistol for close-range defense, they lack the firepower for attacking enemy troops.
 Rebel Marine(Space only)
Rebel Marines are more suited for killing enemy boarding parties, destroying enemy ships in hangars, and taking out enemy core systems than dogfighting. Although they can pilot starfighters, they do not have the ability to auto-repair their vessels like the Pilot, making them highly vulnerable. They have in their arsenal a blaster rifle, rocket launcher, and four thermal detonators.
The Empire's elite troops are highly trained and well equipped. However, these organized and efficient soldiers are just as vulnerable to prolonged time underwater and in space.
Perhaps the most widely known soldiers in the entire Star Wars saga, these are the Empire's basic infantry units. They are equipped with a blaster rifle, a pistol, and four thermal detonators. Unfortunately, on many dark maps (such as Dagobah and Endor), their shiny white armor stand out too well.
Only available on Hoth, these units have exactly the same equipment as normal stormtroopers; they're just given different outfits (purely cosmetic from a gameplay perspective) to compensate for the cold weather.
 Shock Trooper
An anti-vehicular unit equipped with two grenades and three landmines, the Shock Trooper carries a rocket launcher (with seven rockets) for his main weapon. Like all other anti-vehicular units, Shock Troopers are popular in online play albeit being very slow, due to their strong close-range capabilities.
 Scout Trooper
Easily recognizable with their unique helmet style, Scout Troopers are equipped with a sniper rifle, a blaster pistol, two grenades, and an automatic turret that can watch their back while sniping. Like all sniper classes, Scout Troopers are very fast on their feet.
 Imperial Engineer
Equipped with a shotgun, Imperial Engineers also carry a fusion cutter that can be used to repair vehicles or tear enemies from them, among other uses. They also carry five health/ammo packs and three detpacks.
 Imperial Officer
Imperial Officers are specially trained and equipped units. Their mortar launchers are capable of detonation on impact (one-shot kill) as well as taking multiple enemies out at once or shooting around corners by charging up (at its charged state, the weapon is closer to being a timed grenade launcher). Officers carry Genosian sonic guns as well (not very effective at close range), with a recon droid (capable of scouting, light laser fire, and self-detonation) and a damage increase bonus (Rage) as secondary weapons.
 Dark Trooper
Dark Troopers are lightly armored, but are equipped with a jetpack. Obviously, they can get around much faster and easier than other units, but the fuel is limited (it charges back up though) and the jetpack tends to just shoot up for a short while and put the player back down, unlike the jetpack of the Republic Jet Troopers. These soldiers are also equipped with Arc Casters (they fire streams of lightning that can be charged to hit multiple enemies at once), blaster pistols, and four thermal detonators.
 Imperial Pilot
All pilot units in the game have exactly the same abilities and equipment, and the Imperial Pilot, no matter how more "elite" than the others, is no exception. This Pilot unit comes with a pistol, fusion cutter, and time bombs, just like the other pilots.
 Imperial Marine
Like the Pilot classes, all Marine units in the different factions feature the same equipment. A blaster rifle, rocket launcher, and two grenades are given to each Imperial Marine.
The Republic's clone soldiers are the predecessors of the Imperial Army, and thus share many characteristics with the latter. They are vulnerable to both water and vacuum.
 Clone Trooper
The grunts of the Republic, these Troopers are well trained in close-to-medium range combat. True to franchise lore, these seem to be superior over the CIS equivalent unit (the Super Battle Droid) in the hands of the same player. Clone Troopers use a blaster rifle, a blaster pistol, and four thermal detonators. There are two versions of this unit--the Geonosis troopers wear all-white armor (as in the movie they are depicted in), while on every other map they are wearing the trademark blue-and-white armor of the 501st Legion.
 Heavy Trooper
Just as his name implies, this unit is used for the heavy stuff. Heavy Troopers are outfitted with the same equipment as all other anti-vehicular units, with a rocket launcher, mines, two grenades, and a pistol.
 Clone Sharpshooter
A sniper unit with a rifle, a blaster pistol, two grenades, and an automatic turret that can defend his back. They come in three types of armor (only different in appearance): white-and-red on Geonosis, camouflage colors (actually works) on Kashyyyk, and white with a strange-looking helmet and cape on all other maps.
 Clone Engineer
Clone Engineers, like their other faction counterparts, are outfitted with a shotgun, fusion cutter, health and ammo packs, and detpacks.
 Clone Commander
An elite unit, a Clone Commander can dish out massive damage with his chaingun. This weapon, similar to the Gatling gun, has infinite ammo (it can overheat, however) but takes one second to warm up before firing. In case this weapon overheats (or in an emergency), he can turn to his Commando Pistol (an improved version of the blaster pistol). Commanders also have the Rally area effect (can power up nearby allies) and a recon droid, with the blaster and self-destruct capabilities.
 Jet Trooper
Jet troopers are flying units like the Dark Troopers, but their jetpacks allow for sustained flying with more control than the latter's "burst" jetpacks. Jet troopers are equipped with EMP launchers, which fire a rocket-like ball of energy at enemies. They are extremely powerful, but ammo is scarce. They are also given commando pistols and four thermal detonators.
 Clone Pilot
Like all other pilot classes, Clone Pilots are given a commando pistol, three time bombs, and a fusion cutter.
 Clone Marine
Like all other marine classes, Clone Marines are given a blaster rifle, rocket launcher, and two grenades.
The only droid faction in the game, CIS units sport some unique designs. The Assault, Assassin, and Engineer droids are all variants of the basic Battle Droid design; the others are different droids seen throughout the movies. Since they are droids and do not require air, they can stay out in space without being destroyed; however, being underwater hurts them very fast.
 Super Battle Droid
The CIS grunt unit, the Super Battle Droid uses a rapid firing, wrist-mounted blaster for its primary weapon. This unit is unique in the fact that it is not given a pistol for a sidearm like other units; instead, the same wrist blaster doubles as a "tri-shot", basically a very powerful shotgun-like blaster that is actually better for close-range fights than the primary weapon. Also as a unique feature, Supers are equipped with three wrist rockets rather than grenades. Some people have trouble getting headshots on these because of the compact size of the "heads" (wedged between the shoulders).
 Assault Droid
An anti-vehicular unit, equipped with a rocket launcher, two grenades and landmines. The rocket launcher has seven shots and is commonly used in online play.
 Assassin Droid
A sniper unit with a rifle, a blaster, two grenades, and an automatic turret that can defend a sniping spot while your back is turned.
 Engineer Droid
An engineer unit that uses a shotgun and a cutter, used to repair vehicles or tear enemies form vehicles. It can use one secondary weapon to give supplies and health. The other secondary weapon is a remote explosive, a detpack. You can have one detpack in place at a time.
General Grievous's personal bodyguards, these units use are equipped with perhaps the most potent combination of weapons in the game: a radiation launcher that launches radioactive grenades capable of dealing splash damage (and can be charged up), a 'Bulldog' launcher that fires homing explosive rounds at a fast rate, a recon droid, and neuro poison (which affects all enemies in an area) that slowly eats away at the victim's health and cannot be cured. However, this unit is comparatively weak in terms of armor.
The only unit in the game who you cannot score a headshot on, the Droideka only has one weapon: rapid blasters on each arm that can deal a ridiculous amount of damage quickly if used properly (however, it does squat against vehicle armor). The Droideka's signature trait, however, is its shield: it can be activated or deactivated at any time, and it protects the Droideka from attacks until it wears down. Rockets, grenades, and powerful turrets are really the only effective weapons against this shield. The Droideka cannot operate vehicles, but instead transforms into a ball and rolls to get around quickly. Normally, it is very slow.
 Droid Pilot
Like the other Pilot classes in the game, Droid Pilots are armed with a commando pistol, a fusion cutter, and three time bombs for destroying ship components.
 Droid Marine
Like the other Marine classes in the game, Droid Marines are equipped with a blaster rifle, a rocket launcher, and grenades. They receive only two grenades however, in contrast to their clone counterparts who receive four.
