New units[edit]

The Rebel Alliance received many new units from many different sources. No aspect of the battlefield was left unimproved by Rebel technicians and inventors. It was these improvements that altered the balance of power in the Galactic Civil War.

Space Units[edit]

The Rebellion received only two major ships in the change from Empire at War to Forces of Corruption, but what was added became a very important part of the Rebel forces, giving them an easier way to combat with Imperial and Consortium battleships.

B-Wing: The B-Wing is the advancement from the Y-Wing. Fully loaded with 3 ion and laser cannons, and dual proton torpedo launchers, it was a welcomed addition to the Rebel arsenal. In the movies, it is seen little apart from the attack on the Death Star II, but in the expanded universe, it has become a dominant part of the Rebellion and later New Republic fleets.

Abilities

Lock S-Foils: This ability, like that of the X-Wing, closes the S-Foils to increase speed. It also decreases firepower, but it does not hamper shield and armor strength.

Capabilities

The B-Wing can handle any opponent in Forces of Corruption. It can dogfight with fighters, strafe cruisers and Star Destroyers, and is a completely welcome part of a space fleet. They are only truly stopped by corvettes, most turrets, and fighters not being actively targeted by the B-Wing, as per the Anti-fighter roles, but it still can damage them easily. What makes these new bombers superior to any fighter (save the TIE Defender and Skipray Blastboat), though, is the combined firing capability. Not only does the B-Wing fire proton torpedoes at enemy vessels, it also opens up with its ion and laser cannons. These guns easily strip the shields off even level 5 stations and then heavily damage hardpoints underneath. The ion cannons also slow enemy fire rate, as per the land-based variant. Use this bomber frequently to halt Imperial Star Destroyers and kill them before they ravage your fleet.

MC30 Frigate: The MC30 frigate is a light cruiser that was built specifically as an anti-emplacement vehicle. Sporting two rapid-firing proton torpedo launchers and a laser cannon, it can go head to head with even space stations and inflict heavy damage, regardless of shield strength.

Abilities

Cluster Bomb: The MC30 frigate will release a dozen cluster bombs that explode after a set amount of distance. Used to eliminate large groups of fighters. Automatic, so it will fire without being told to do so, but this can be disabled by right-clicking the icon to use it.

Capabilities

The MC30 is a good counter to late game units, since almost all of them have hardpoints. The MC30 frigate is susceptible to attack by bomber/fighter-bombers, since it only has 4 hardpoints and weak armor to protect them. Use many of them at once, so upon loss of one of a cruiser's torpedo launchers, the fleet will not be heavily impacted in its firepower. Also, when many are together, the cluster bombs that were once inaccurate cover the entire area of your fleet, in and out, and decimate marauding fighters. To go head to head with Star Destoyers and other opponents, make use of the cruisers speed. It can quickly react to the heavy guns from a Kedalbe-class battleship, or surface-mounted guns like hypervelocity cannons (Listen for audio warnings, since there is a warning when it is firing). This can cause the enemy to miss, draining their economy and giving you time with that unit.
