A thin sheet of alloy plating is a relatively inexpensive way to improve a droid's chance of surviving combat. This model is an excellent option for light-duty droids.

Droid Medium Plating Type 1[edit]

Developed by engineer Hoot Calin, this plating relies more on deflecting angles than exotic alloys. Cost can be prohibitive, though this is the most affordable model of the type.

Droid Heavy Plating Type 1[edit]

Originally used on starship hulls, durasteel is the best protection available for droids. This particular variant of the alloy is the standard for mass-production heavy combat droids.

Class 2[edit]

Three plates require the Droid Upgrade Class 2 feat, which is only granted to level > 6 Droids.

Droid Light Plating Type 2[edit]

Though more for the factory floor, plating of this type is seeing more general use. Light but effective, this upgrade can mean the difference between repair and replacement if a droid comes to harm.

A specialized variant of heavy plating, this type of durasteel alloy is not sold in mass quantities. More often, it is used to equip elite troops where the initial cost of the battle droid warrants the investment.

Composite Heavy Plating[edit]

This plating forgoes mobility in favor of sheer mass. The huge composite plates covering the droid do not allow the range of motion that other armor systems may grant their user, but in terms of physical protection, this plating is the best in the galaxy.
