Love. You can learn all the math in the 'verse, but you take a boat in the air that you don't love, she'll shake you off just as sure as the turning of the worlds. Love keeps her in the air when she oughta fall down, tells you she's hurtin' 'fore she keens. Makes her a home.

After investigating the ruins at the east end of the plains beyond the courtyard outside the Jedi enclave on Dantooine, you must return to the Jedi Council Chambers to tell them of your findings... or lie and have Bastila tell them, moving closer to the dark side of the Force.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Ah, you have returned, young Padawan. Have you discovered what it was that Revan and Malak sought in those ruins?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. [Lie] No, I could not find anything. Dark Side Points Gained: -2
Dialog
KotOR Icon Bastila.png Bastila: What are you talking about? The Council must be told of what we found there! We found an incomplete Star Map, Master Vandar. And an ancient droid that mentioned something about a Star Forge. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: Lies! Bastila has already told us about this 'Star Forge' and the map you found!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Peace, Master Vrook. I'm certain the Padawan only meant they had not found anything beyond what Bastila would surely have told us.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. We found an incomplete Star Map and mention of something called a Star Forge. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. [Lie] No, I could not find anything.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: This news of a Star Forge is disturbing. Action is required, but we must not do so in haste. We must discuss recent events in light of this new information.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: We should consult the Jedi archives to see if there is any mention of this 'Star Forge' and what it might do. We must learn why Revan and Malak sought it out.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Return to your ship with Bastila and we will summon you when we are done.

When they're done:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Padawan, you have done well in discovering the Star Map hidden within the ancient ruins. But there is more you must do in the battle against Malak and the Sith. We Jedi know victory over the Sith will not come through martial might. The Council has a mission for you, Padawan.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Dorak: I have consulted our vast archives in an effort to discover the nature of this 'Star Forge', but all my efforts have been in vain.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: Still, the Council are in agreement: the Star Forge must be found! Revan and Malak sought it out when they began their tragic fall; the Star Forge is surely a powerful tool of the dark side.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: The Star Map in the ruins showed you four planets, but it was incomplete. It did not show the location of the Star Forge itself. We believe there may be similar Star Maps on other planets. Each Star Map is likely a small piece of a larger puzzle. Find the Star Maps on Kashyyyk, Tatooine, Manaan and Korriban and we believe they will lead you to the Star Forge.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I am ready to do the Council's will. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Sounds like a suicide mission to me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: Ever brash, ever disrespectful! This is what we have pinned our hopes on?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Peace, Vrook. We have discussed this; there is no other choice.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: The Jedi numbers have been ravaged by this war, by defections to Malak's cause and by Sith assassins. But we realize the importance of this mission. Yet if we sent a company of Jedi Knights with you we would surely draw the full attention of Malak and the Sith, dooming your efforts to failure.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Am I to undertake this task alone? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Good. Others will only slow me down.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Secrecy is our best defense against the Sith, but it would be foolish to send you on this quest without someone to aid you, young Padawan. Bastila will accompany you, for there is a powerful connection between you two... a connection that might be the key to unravelling the mysteries uncovered by Revan.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: And Juhani has also asked to accompany you. After long deliberation we have granted her request.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: Juhani nearly fell to the dark side. Perhaps her presence will serve as a reminder to you of the dangers of that path.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. There are others I want to join me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Great. Bastila and the cat woman. Anyone else you want to stick me with?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: Of course those who aided you on Taris will also come; they possess skills you may find useful in your quest. Remember that secrecy and discretion are paramount to your success. You will not be able to hide the fact that you are Jedi, nor should you. But the true nature of your mission must not reach Malak's ears. You may return here at any time. Dantooine will be a sanctuary for you, a safe haven. Here you can find supplies and whatever advice or other aid we may give you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. When do I leave? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Why should I risk my life to stop Malak?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You can count on me. I will not fail. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: This was already explained to you. Your command of the Force makes you a threat to Malak. Eventually he will destroy you, and all the Jedi, unless you stop him first.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: You can leave whenever you wish; the sooner the better. The longer you wait the stronger Malak becomes. But first a warning, young Padawan: The lure of the dark side is difficult to resist. I fear this quest to find the Star Forge could lead you down an all too familiar path.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: The fate of the galaxy is in your hands, young Padawan. We pray you are up to the challenge. May the Force be with you.
Journal Entry Added A Quest for the Star Forge
The Jedi Council has instructed you to seek out the ancient Star Maps scattered about the galaxy in the hopes of uncovering the location of the mysterious Star Forge, as Revan and Malak did before you.

If you speak to the Council again before leaving Dantooine:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: You must not fail in your mission. Find the Star Maps that lead to the Star Forge. This is the only way to stop Malak and his Sith followers. You and Bastila are the galaxy's last desperate hope.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: But beware the dark side. Bastila will guide you, but she herself is young and new to the ways of the Jedi. You must help her as much as she helps you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: The fate of the galaxy is in your hands, young Padawan. We pray you are up to the challenge. May the Force be with you.

If you speak to Mastar Vandar again:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vandar Tokare: You must not fail in your mission, young Padawan. Find the Star Maps that lead to the Star Forge. This is the only way to stop Malak and his Sith followers. You and Bastila are the galaxy's last, desperate hope. May the Force be with you in this quest.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: It is well you are still alive, Padawan, in that you have not yet managed to fail us completely. Why is it that you are now bothering me instead of seeking out the Star Map?

A selling point for Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic II: The Sith Lords is you finally get the chance to beat seven shades of s... not out of this guy.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I am sorry, Master Vrook. I will go.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Vrook Lamar: You have a mission to attend to, Padawan. And as much as I may wish it otherwise, you are our only hope. The Council has placed the fate of the galaxy within your hands. I pray both you and Bastila are able to emerge from this ordeal as servants of the light. May the Force be with you, young Padawan.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Zhar Lestin: May the Force be with you in your quest.

You're now free to leave the Jedi enclave aboard the Ebon Hawk, where Juhani can join your party if she was redeemed rather than slain during your third trial, and explore the desert of Tatooine, the forest of Kashyyyk, the ocean of Manaan and the Sith world of Korriban in any order you wish, as often as you wish (although you can be banned from Manaan after acquiring its Star Map, and on Korriban the Sith Academy and beyond can become inaccessible). You can also return to Dantooine (at least before being captured by the Leviathan after acquiring your fourth Star Map) and, if available, visit Yavin Station (which should be your first port of call to sell unwanted items since they sell for 2.6 times more there than anywhere else now accessible).

Although difficulty is subjective, and key enemies on all planets are granted attribute bonuses at character levels 12 and 15 (the composition of some enemy encounters may also change depending on character level), in terms of mines and number of Force users Tatooine and Kashyyyk are easiest, followed by Manaan and then Korriban (and since Bastila cannot join your party on Korriban and she's removed from it before you can escape the Leviathan, it can make sense to visit the Sith world last).

Visiting Tatooine and Kashyyyk first also allows you to complete your party sooner, since HK-47 and Jolee Bindo respectively can join you on these planets (although the former costs 2500-5000 credits, depending on how persuasive you are). Visiting Tatooine first is also encouraged by quests activated after speaking to members of your party:

Party Quest Activation messenger Complete
Dantooine Tatooine Kashyyyk Manaan Korriban
Carth Finding Dustil Yes Yes Yes Yes No Korriban
Mission Mission's Brother Yes No Yes No Yes Tatooine
Bastila Bastila's Mother Yes Yes Yes No No Tatooine
Canderous Jagi's Challenge Yes No Yes Yes Yes Tatooine
Juhani Threat from Xor No Yes Yes Yes Yes Dantooine Tatooine
Jolee Bindo Sunry Murder Trial Yes Yes No No Yes Manaan

Quests for Mission, Bastila and Canderous can all be activated before leaving Dantooine for the first time (Carth requires a second Star Map), and all are completed on Tatooine. However, once you've acquired its Star Map your next destination is less clear-cut: if you didn't kill Mission's brother then he requires a tach gland, which can only be acquired on Kashyyyk; having encountered and killed Calo Nord, a cryptic message from the Genoharadan instructs you to come alone to see Hulas on Manaan; but if you've been speaking to Carth and now met Jordo, then finding Dustil on Korriban may seem like the most compelling reason to go anywhere, particularly for a light side or female character.

There are other interplanetary quests which may influence the order in which you visit planets, at least if you want to minimize backtracking while completing all possible quests (not just those that are mandatory):

  • You need to return to Dantooine at least once before acquiring the fourth of the five Star Maps to properly complete Strange Stowaway Light Side Points Gained and Genoharadan: Zuulan Dark Side Points Gained (which in turn requires you to visit Manaan and acquire a second Star Map from another planet first). After killing any terentatek on Kashyyyk or Korriban you may want to tell Deesra about it, and a light side character may also want to check on a Sith or two redeemed from the dark side on Korriban...
  • You need to visit Tatooine at least twice to first find Mission's brother and then return from Kashyyyk with a tach gland for him (although a dark side character can avoid this by killing him), and to complete Genoharadan: Vorn Dark Side Points Gained before returning to finish the Genoharadan once and for all.
  • You do not want to visit Kashyyyk more than once due to how restricted your ability to return to Ebon Hawk is there: aside from Mission's brother's aforementioned need for a tach gland, only Genoharadan: Rulan Dark Side Points Gained requires you to have visited elsewhere first.
  • You need to visit Manaan at least twice, first to activate all Genoharadan quests and then to complete them, which also requires visiting every other planet except Korriban. Although you need Jolee to join your party on Kashyyyk to activate the Sunry murder trial here as well, since you'll need to return to Manaan you don't need to visit Kashyyyk first.
  • You don't need to visit Korriban more than once as long as you don't visit it first, since a second Star Map needs to be acquired before Carth can find Dustil here (and if you visit it and acquire its Star Map first, then you might not be able to find him upon your return). Unfinished Business may take you to Tatooine, but finishing the Genoharadan obliges you to return there anyway.

Great Hunt[edit]

As you exit the tunnel and go up the ramp to the docking bay and the Ebon Hawk, Deesra the Twi'lek Jedi will speak to warn you about the terentatek, creatures born of the dark side whose prey are the Jedi:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Padawan, a word, if I may. There are many rumors about your most recent meeting with the Jedi Council. There is talk that they are sending you on a mission to help us against Malak and the Sith.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. How do you know the Council gave me a mission? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I don't think the Council would want me to speak openly of this mission. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. My discussions with the Council are none of your business!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: I saw you going into the Council chambers. You were in there for some time. I naturally assumed the Council had given you a task to perform.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Please understand that I am not asking you to reveal anything that could endanger the Order or the Republic. Whatever task the Council has given you is for your ears, not mine. I only want to wish you well, and to warn you to be careful. There are many evils out there, many dangers. The Sith are not the only minions of the dark side.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What could be more dangerous than the Sith? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What are you talking about? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I can look after myself.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Yes, your skill and prowess are already well known throughout this Academy. But even you would be wise to heed my warnings.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Master Dorak has been training me to succeed him as Chronicler here in the Academy. In my studies I have come across tales of creatures that are born of the dark side, monsters of pure evil. The worst of these abominations is the terentatek, a beast that feeds on the blood of those who are strong in the Force. Over the centuries, many Jedi have fallen to their ravenous hunger.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What makes this creature so dangerous? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. It's hard to believe an animal could pose a threat to a Jedi. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Why are you telling me this?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: You have completed your initial training in a fraction of the normal time. The Force is very strong with you. I'm afraid you might become a target for these creatures.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: The terentatek is a predator, and we Jedi are its prey. They are incredibly strong, with a primal cunning. And they have an in-born resistance to the Force. There are some who believe the terentatek is a monster bred by the ancient Sith, and spread throughout the galaxy to destroy the Jedi. Fortunately, the terentatek is quite rare. They only dwell in the most dangerous and darkest of places. In fact, one has not been seen in nearly forty years.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Sounds like they're extinct. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Then why are you worried about them now?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: This is not the first time the terentatek have vanished for long periods of time. Many believe they can lay dormant for years, only to rise and hunt when the power of the dark side waxes full. I fear Malak's rise may have woken these creatures from their dormant state. Once the Sith are beaten, I would not be surprised if the Council organized another Great Hunt to try and exterminate them.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Thanks for the warning. I'll be careful. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I can't waste time listening to your fables!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: A final warning as you go, Padawan: do not underestimate the terentatek. If you do, you may suffer the same fate as those who disappeared after the Great Hunt.

If you continue this dialog instead or resume it later, he can tell you about the Great Hunt for these terentatek organized by the Jedi Council:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Great Hunt? What's that? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Tell me about the Great Hunt you mentioned before.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: The Great Hunt was organized by the Jedi Council shortly after the war against Exar Kun. Jedi were scattered throughout the galaxy, helping to rebuild from the devastation. Many Jedi vanished during this period, disappearing from a variety of worlds without warning. We did not know they had been slain until their mutilated bodies began to be discovered. The Council investigated, and discovered the terentatek were behind the killings. It was decided the galaxy had to be purged of these insatiable monsters – though the cost proved high.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. So the Jedi just killed these creatures? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Cost? What cost?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: The terentatek are an abomination, they are ruthless engines of death and destruction. The Council had no choice but to destroy them, for the greater good of the galaxy.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Many Jedi banded together and journeyed to the planets that were suspected of harboring the terentatek. The Great Hunt did not rest until all the creatures had been slain – or almost all. There were still rumors of terentatek on the planet of Korriban, a dark world some believe to be the birthplace of the Sith. That is where Exar Kun was corrupted during the first Sith War. They never went to Korriban. The Council, fearing more Jedi might fall to the dark side, declared the Great Hunt was officially over... though three Jedi were appointed to continue the work.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The work of killing terentatek, you mean. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Why? What was so special about those three?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: The Jedi chosen to continue the hunt on their own were Duron Qel-Droma, Guun Han Saresh and Shaela Nur. These three shared a powerful bond, and each of them was devoted to the light. The Council felt that together they would be able to defeat any terentatek they found. And by supporting each other they could resist the temptations of Korriban and the lure of the dark side. But none of the three survived. Their Master felt them become one with the Force when they left this world. He believed they were slain by one of the monsters they sought. The Council felt it was too dangerous to send anyone else in search of their remains, so their exact fate is not known. But let their deaths serve as a warning to you, Padawan.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'll be going now. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Then may the Force be with you.

As you explore the galaxy you'll encounter terentatek and can learn the fates of Guun Han Saresh, Duron Qel-Droma and Shaela Nur, the last three Jedi tasked with the hunt, acquiring powerful items from their remains which are normally Restricted to: Light Side.

Planet Area Source Item Cost
Kashyyyk Lower Shadowlands Ritual Beast Circlet of Saresh (not on Xbox) 9000
Korriban Shyrack Caves Remains Qel-Droma Robes 2000
Tomb of Naga Sadow Skeletal Human Remains Crystal, Solari 5000

You'll also acquire their journals:

Guun Han's Journal
This data pad was recovered from the remains of a terentatek on Kashyyyk, and must have been devoured by the beast. It appears to be the personal journal of Guun Han Saresh. The last entry explains what he was doing on Kashyyyk:

Duran and Shaela have given in to their passion for each other, and are doomed to fall to the dark side. I tried to warn them against expressing their love, but they called me arrogant and accused me - ME! - of being the one on the dark path. I left the fools on Korriban.

But I am not about to abandon the mandate given me by the Jedi Council. I will destroy the terentatek wherever I find them. I have heard rumors such a beast may exist in the Shadowlands of Kashyyyk.

I shall go there and slay the beast, proving that I do not need either Duran or Shaela with me to defeat these creatures!
Duron's Journal
This data pad appears to be the personal journal of the Jedi Duron Qel-Droma. The last entry reveals what he was doing on this world:

Korriban is everything I imagined - and feared. I can feel the power of the dark side here, I can sense the terentatek hiding in this evil place.

Shaela and I have decided to venture forth into the Valley of the Sith Lords in search of the creatures. I only wish Guun Han was still with us.

Why couldn't he just accept that Shaela and I are in love? He claims our passion for each other will lead us down the dark side, but he can't even see how his own pride and arrogance are leading him away from the light.

Maybe it is good that he left, after all. Even as dangerous as the terentatek are, I'm certain Shaela and I can defeat one without his help.
Shaela's Journal
This data pad is the personal journal of the Jedi Shaela Nur. Her last entry is particularly compelling:

I have tracked the terentatek that ambushed us in the Shyrack caves to this tomb, but even as I stand at the entrance I know this is wrong.

Dark thoughts fill my mind: hatred and vengeance. I cannot stop myself from blaming Guun Han for Duran's death. If he had not abandoned us, my love would surely have survived the terentatek's first attack.

But my hatred of Guun Han pales beside my burning desire for revenge. My blood boils to destroy the creature that ended Duran's life, no matter what the cost.

I know such thoughts are those of the dark side, but I cannot help them. Even the second set of tracks outside the cave cannot dissuade me from my task. One terentatek, two, a thousand... it makes no difference to me now.

The only image I see is that of Duran's broken body, and only blood can cleanse it from my mind.

I hope my Master will forgive me for what I am about to do.

After killing any terentatek (which is only actually necessary to acquire Guun Han's circlet and journal on Kashyyyk, since only he was eaten by one), if you return to Dantooine then you can tell Deesra about it:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I just came to tell you that I've killed a terentatek.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Deesra: Then the galaxy is a better place for it. Every one of these creatures is an abomination that must be exterminated. You have done well, Padawan. But do not let your success blind you to the dangers of these monsters. A Jedi must never become complacent when facing one of the terentatek, as you well know. Is there anything else I can do for you, Padawan?

Calo Nord[edit]

After you leave Dantooine, Darth Malak approaches Admiral Saul Karath on the bridge of the Leviathan...

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Lord Malak, the Star Forge is operating at 200% capacity – far beyond our expectations.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: I am more interested in the young Jedi Bastila and her Battle Meditation.Have you learned how she escaped the destruction of Taris?
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: She was aided by Carth Onasi, a decorated war hero of the Republic and a legendary soldier. During the Mandalore Wars he was honored many times for his bravery.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: You know this man?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Yes, Lord Malak. He served under me when I still followed the Republic. You could say I was his mentor.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: Interesting. How did you acquire this information, Admiral?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: An eye witness, Lord Malak.

Calo Nord now approaches, last seen by you in the hangar of Davik's estate. Your party weren't the only ones to escape Taris...

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Calo Nord, a bounty hunter, was there when Bastila and Carth escaped the planet. Apparently they left him for dead.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: A Jedi and a war hero – it's a wonder you survived the encounter.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Calo Nord: I am hard to kill, Lord Malak.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Calo has agreed to help us capture the young Bastila – for a very hefty fee, of course. But I assure you he is well worth the price. His reputation as a bounty hunter is well earned.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: Her companions are nothing to me, Calo – but I desire the young Jedi taken alive if at all possible.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Lord Malak, forgive me. There is something else. May we have a private audience away from the ears of the common soldiers?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: I trust you are not wasting my time, Admiral Karath.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: I promise you will be very interested in what Calo has to tell you about Bastila's other companion, Lord Malak.

So after Darth Malak ordered the destruction of an entire planet to get Bastila, he dials it down a notch and the bounty hunter Calo Nord has been commissioned to capture her. After your last encounter Nord may have lost a great deal of the mystique he had earlier, but you'll soon find out if he can restore his reputation...

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Calo Nord: I have to give you credit... you've led me on quite a chase. But nobody gets away from Calo Nord in the end!
KotOR Icon Canderous.png Canderous: I see you brought some back up, Calo. Realized we were a bit much to handle on your own, eh?
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Calo Nord: You got lucky on Taris; the Sith attack saved you from a quick and gruesome death. But I promise you, the Sith won't be getting in my way this time!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. How did you get down here?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Calo Nord: You underestimate me; there's other ways down here besides the Republic subs. A small vessel with the right weapons can blast a path right through those firaxian sharks. Once I got down to the ocean floor all I had to do was come here and wait. I knew you'd come back this way eventually.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Hold on, Calo... maybe we can work out a deal here. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You think I got lucky last time? Okay, let's do it again! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You traveled a long way just to die, Calo!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Calo Nord: Sorry, I'm not in this for the credits. You're the only ones who've ever gotten away from me – I've got a rep to protect!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Calo Nord: Let's go, boys... it's show time!

He always starts by using his Verpine Prototype Shield, absorbing 120 points of energy, sonic, cold or heat damage in total. Calo Nord's Battle Armor also has Damage Resistance: Resist 10/- vs. Cold, Fire and Sonic, and he always has 200 Vitality, two Life Support Packs and at least one Antidote Kit.

He always attacks with a pair of Mandalorian Heavy Pistols with Weapon Specialization: Blaster Pistol and he has improved Power Blast and Sniper Shot, and mastered Rapid Shot (although he only appears to use these feats on Manaan), but there are other variations from planet to planet:

Planet Level CR Skills Defense Saves Attack Immune
Awareness Treat Injury F R W Main Off
Tatooine 12 12 15 16 22 14 15 12 20 18 Immunity: Critical Hits Immunity: Sneak Attacks Immunity: Mind-Affecting
Kashyyyk 12 12 14 11 26 22 19 16 20 18
Manaan 10 11 14 16 20 13 10 7 14 8
Korriban 14 14 14 10 28 21 17 13 18 12

He's a ranged attacker by default, but he'll draw a Vibroblade in melee range on Manaan and Korriban; he only uses Thermal Detonators and Concussion Grenades (three of each) on Manaan, and you only receive his pistols from his remains on Tatooine and Korriban (you always receive 2000 credits and his armor).

There's also a great deal of variation in his supporting thugs: for example, on every planet except Tatooine he's accompanied by two, one ranged and one melee; on Tatooine, he's accompanied by four ranged attackers, one of whom can use grenades (and on Manaan, both can use grenades, like him).

Tatooine[edit]

As you approach the Star Map at the back of the Krayt Dragon cave in the Eastern Dune Sea, if Calo Nord hasn't been encountered since escaping Taris then he appears outside with a quartet of thugs: even after challenging you upon leaving the cave, they're far enough away that they won't engage in combat until you approach them, giving plenty of time to prepare beforehand.

Genoharadan[edit]

Once Calo Nord has been encountered and killed on one of the four remaining Star Map worlds, a green Twi'lek male named Senni Vek can approach and speak to you in one of the following locations once you've acquired that world's Star Map:

Tatooine Kashyyyk Korriban
Anchorhead Great Walkway Dreshdae
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: Forgive me for the intrusion, human. My name is Senni Vek. I believe you dropped this datapad and I wish to return it to you.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I didn't drop anything.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: I'm certain you did, human. Please, take the datapad. It's yours, I'm sure.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm sorry, there must be some mistake.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: There is no mistake, human. This datapad is yours and yours alone. Please, take it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. What is this, some kind of con game?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: No, this is no game. I simply saw you drop this datapad and I wish to give it back to you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I don't want it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: Are you certain, human? Please, take the datapad.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. No. It's not mine. I won't take it. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I'll beat you to death with that datapad if you don't go away right now!
Dark Side Points Gained: -2
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: Very well, human. I will keep the datapad and I will leave. Goodbye, human.

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Uh... thanks. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Fine. Give me the stupid datapad!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Senni Vek: My pleasure, human. You should examine it to make sure it is not broken. Goodbye, human.
Journal Entry Added Genoharadan
A Twi'lek named Senni Vek has given you a datapad he claimed you dropped. On the datapad is a cryptic message:
The Genoharadan say to see Hulas on Manaan. Come alone or not at all.
Item(s) Received Senni Vek
  • Datapad
This datapad contains a single short, cryptic message: The Genoharadan say to see Hulas on Manaan. Come alone or not at all.

Hulas can be found in Ahto City's East Central courtyard on Manaan. Completing his missions is optional and always moves you closer to the dark side of the Force, but the rewards are substantial...

Darth Bandon[edit]

Once you've acquired a third Star Map (the second after Dantooine) and left that world, Admiral Saul Karath approaches Darth Malak on the bridge of the Leviathan to tell him of Calo Nord's death:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Calo Nord is dead, Lord Malak. He has failed in his mission. Forgive me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: The penalty for failure is death, Admiral Karath. But the failure was Calo's, not yours. You may rise.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Admiral Saul Karath: Shall I hire another bounty hunter, Lord Malak?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: No mere bounty hunter can stand against a Jedi. I shall not make the same mistake again. My apprentice, Darth Bandon, shall take care of our young Jedi friend.

Darth Bandon enters, and when a Sith soldier crosses his path he uses the Force to push him into a computer terminal, causing an explosion.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Malak: Find Bastila and bring her to me. Alive if possible.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Bandon: As you command, Master.

You'll soon have a chance to avenge Trask's death on the Endar Spire, as Darth Bandon can now be encountered on any of the four Star Map worlds (including those whose Star Maps have already been acquired) in the same places where Calo Nord was encountered.

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Bandon: At last, my search is over! I was beginning to fear someone else had killed you and deprived me of the pleasure. You may have defeated the pathetic bounty hunter my Master sent after you, but you are no match for me! I have studied at the foot of the Dark Lord himself!
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. How did you get down here?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Bandon: Do you think those Republic subs are the only way to reach the ocean floor? Malak and Revan found a way down here long before the Hrakert station was built. I acquired a ship and followed the same route Revan and my Master used on their own journey. Then it was simply a matter of waiting for you to return for the Star Map.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You're Malak's apprentice? Can't say I'm impressed. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You were on the Endar Spire! You killed Trask. You'll pay for that! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. When will Malak learn? I'll kill you just like I killed Calo Nord! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. You're a fool if you think you can defeat me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Darth Bandon: Your words mean nothing to me... unless you wish to beg for your life. No? Then I shall try to make this both quick and painful!

He always starts by using Force Immunity which results in Force Resistance 30 so, unless one of your party can use Force Breach to cancel it, any Force users should focus on the accompanying Dark Jedi. He can always use the same Force powers on every planet: Death Field is used frequently once he's reduced to less than half Vitality, which can make him dangerous and difficult to finish if your party's attention is split.

He always attacks with a Double-Bladed Lightsaber with Weapon Focus: Lightsaber and he has mastered Power Attack, Flurry, Critical Strike (DC 20) and Jedi Defense (BBD 21) but there are other variations from planet to planet:

Planet CR Vitality Defense Saves Attack Item DC
F R W Main Off
Tatooine 12 240 28 26 29 25 17 15 25
Kashyyyk 15 240 28 29 32 28 21 19 Nerve Amplifier Belt Immunity: Mind-Affecting 29
Manaan 15 240 28 26 29 25 21 19 25
Korriban 15 210 31 26 29 25 17 15 25

There are also variations in the accompanying Dark Jedi: for example, those on Tatooine or Manaan have significantly less Vitality and lower saves, while the Jedi Consular on Kashyyyk or Manaan does not use Force powers (whereas all Jedi Guardians do, curiously enough). In any case, both are weaker than Darth Bandon himself and can be killed relatively quickly before focusing on him.

The items received from Darth Bandon's remains are always the same, regardless of where he's encountered. However, less experience is received (300 XP, to be exact) if he's encountered and killed on Tatooine.

Tatooine[edit]

As you approach the Star Map at the back of the Krayt Dragon cave in the Eastern Dune Sea, if Darth Bandon hasn't been encountered since leaving the planet on which your third Star Map was found then he appears outside with a couple of Dark Jedi: he won't challenge you until you leave the cave, giving you plenty of opportunity to prepare before engaging in combat.

Leviathan[edit]

After acquiring a fourth Star Map and leaving that world, you're captured by the Leviathan, the flagship of the Sith fleet. Once you've escaped you'll no longer be able to travel back to Dantooine, which means you won't be able to speak to any Sith redeemed from Korriban, or complete the following optional quests:

This event also results in the following for your party:

  • Bastila is removed from your party so you can no longer speak to her, or romance her as a male character, and you can no longer complete the quest for Bastila's Mother.
  • The first four dialogs unlocked by leveling up Canderous become unavailable, although this doesn't prevent Jagi's Challenge from being activated, and one further dialog is unlocked after meeting this challenge; the last two dialogs about the Mandalorian Wars also differ slightly afterwards.
  • Carth's romance can no longer be completed by a female character.
  • HK-47 can no longer be repaired once you've asked him what he has to say back aboard the Ebon Hawk after escaping the Leviathan; if you do not ask him then you can still complete any outstanding repairs, but you cannot complete this quest properly.
  • The fifth and sixth dialogs unlocked by speaking to Jolee Bindo differ slightly afterwards.
  • The personal dialog unlocked by speaking to Juhani after acquiring a second Star Map, and a third level up, also differ slightly afterwards.

There may also be differences in dialog when you travel to other worlds after escaping the Leviathan, the most significant of which are on Korriban and Kashyyyk; unlike those two worlds, almost all differences on Manaan can still be experienced even after acquiring its Star Map (although you shouldn't complete the Missing Selkath quest, kill the giant firaxan shark in the Hrakert Rift or get banned from the planet), and there are no differences on Tatooine whatsoever.

Details of these changes have been added to the Leviathan's Hangar page to minimize spoilers. Once you've acquired the fifth and final Star Map and traveled to the Star Forge System, this walkthrough assumes the reader has experienced, or is aware of, the revelation aboard the hangar of the Leviathan: do not read any page for the Star Forge or its system if this isn't the case, unless you really don't care about spoilers.
