Map of the tomb of Naga Sadow

Way of the Sith[edit]

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Message: [A day passes in preparation. Uthar then takes you and Yuthura to the Sith tomb. Your companions are not permitted to join you.]
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Very well. We are now ready for your final test, young Sith. You have earned the right to see if you shall become one of us.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Indeed you have.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: I dislike your tone, Yuthura. What are you up to, now? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Is that a tone of mischief in your voice, dear Yuthura? You should know by now that no scheme is certain.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Nothing of course, my master. I was merely agreeing with you. Should we not get on with the test? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I... I don't know what you're talking about, master. I am not... scheming. Should we not get on with the test? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: As should you, my master. But I was only agreeing with you. Should we not get on with the test?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Yes. Yes, of course. We are in the sacred tomb of Naga Sadow, young one, the one discovered by Darth Malak and Darth Revan years ago. You are to follow in their footsteps and reach the ancient Star Map that lies deep within. There you will find a lightsaber, amongst other things. The lightsaber is for you: your initiation present. Return to us once you have it, for you the test does not end there.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Be very cautious, here. This tomb is like the others in this valley, and many of its old defenses remain active.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Do you understand what I have told you? Are you ready to begin?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I don't understand... why not just give me the saber?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: If you do not strive to achieve something, then it will be meaningless to you, wouldn't you say?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Can you tell me anything about what I will face?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: No. That is part of the test. Overcome the obstacles that lie ahead on your own.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Can I leave the tomb?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You cannot. No one enters and no one leaves until your test is complete.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Find the Star Map. Return with the lightsaber. I understand.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Good. Yuthura and I will await your return.
Journal Entry Added The Way of the Sith
Master Uthar and Yuthura Ban have brought you to the tomb of Naga Sadow... and there is no way out of the tomb until the quest is complete. You will have to find the Star Map deep within the tomb: when you find it, you will also locate a ceremonial lightsaber. Return to Master Uthar with it.

Door to valley is behind you at the north end of the tomb:

[This door is held closed by some great power, and cannot be opened at the moment.]

Yuthura Ban stands to the left on the west side of the corridor, while Uthar Wynn stands to the right:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Go and retrieve the lightsaber. There is nothing we can do for you until then. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You must locate the ceremonial lightsaber and return here to us. Yuthura and I cannot help you in this, young one.

The corridor to the south ends at a door, beyond which is a ramp down to a junction, which is mined:

Awareness Average Flash Mine Detect 30 (10) Demolitions Disable 25 (5) Recover 35 (15)

There's a wraid encounter to the south of this junction, the composition of which depends on your character level:

Ignore the south and east corridors for now and go down the ramp to the west to a corridor ending in a door. There are skeletal human remains to the left of this door, on the south side:

Item(s) Received Skeletal Human Remains
Datapad
This datapad appears to be the journal of a Sith who quite obviously did not make it past this portion of his final test. Most of the journal consists of the Sith's account of gaining enough prestige with Master Uthar to take this test... only the final entry appears to concern the test, itself:
"It seems I need to get across the pool of acid in the central chamber if I am to complete my test, here, but that is not going to be easy. The runes name one obelisk the 'Pillar of Fire'... while the other is the 'Pillar of Ice'. I can only assume that one of the pillars leads to a way to remove the acid pool. Fire or ice... wouldn't fire create toxic fumes? I'm not sure. Maybe freezing the pool would be safer. Well... I'll worry about that once I bypass the terentatek beasts. If I can. I suppose it's now or never."

Save game. Once you open and step through the door, it closes and locks behind you, trapping you in the northeast corner of a room containing two terentatek at its south end: fortunately they aren't immediately aware of you.

The only other exit is another door in the west wall of the southwest corner, which is also locked, and mined:

Awareness Deadly Gas Mine Detect 40 (20) Demolitions Disable 30 (10) Recover 40 (20)

[This door is locked and will not open at the moment.]

The only way to unlock these doors is to pull the lever in the southwest corner of the room. You could try to sneak past the terentatek to do so, otherwise they attack upon becoming aware of you. They receive bonuses depending on your character level:

Individually they aren't as formidable as the Creature in the Shyrack caves, and thankfully they don't have its Slam Attack (although they're still immune to Force Push and Whirlwind and cannot be knocked back and down, but Force Wave can still damage and stun them). A character level > 14 Force user always breaches their innate Force Resistance, but at this level they also have almost 400 Vitality, so unless you're using Kill there's a distinct possibility you'll run out of Force points before killing them. You'd be better served by slowing or debilitating them to allow you to safely pull the lever: they're too big to exit the room, so you can then retreat through a door and either wait for Force points to regenerate or attack them with ranged weapons (although they retreat to the center of the room, so make sure you're positioned to maintain line of sight). Mines can also be set at the north end of the room without them becoming aware of you.

If you hug the west or east wall (there are skeletal human remains half way down the east wall) and advance slowly south then you can provoke one of them without the other becoming aware of you: standing in a doorway also allows you to take them on one at a time in melee combat, but if the doors are still locked then you have to be confident you can kill them before they kill you, since you can't get past them either.

Shaela's Journal
This data pad is the personal journal of the Jedi Shaela Nur. Her last entry is particularly compelling:
I have tracked the terentatek that ambushed us in the Shyrack caves to this tomb, but even as I stand at the entrance I know this is wrong.
Dark thoughts fill my mind: hatred and vengeance. I cannot stop myself from blaming Guun Han for Duran's death. If he had not abandoned us, my love would surely have survived the terentatek's first attack.
But my hatred of Guun Han pales beside my burning desire for revenge. My blood boils to destroy the creature that ended Duran's life, no matter what the cost.
I know such thoughts are those of the dark side, but I cannot help them. Even the second set of tracks outside the cave cannot dissuade me from my task. One terentatek, two, a thousand... it makes no difference to me now.
The only image I see is that of Duran's broken body, and only blood can cleanse it from my mind.
I hope my Master will forgive me for what I am about to do.

Beyond the door in the west wall is a small chamber with a stone plinth at its center: the stone pillar of ice stands on its west side, while the pillar of fire stands to its east:

Return to the junction to the east.

Star Map[edit]

To the south of the junction is a ramp down to a door, beyond which is an acid pool.

Quest for the Star Forge[edit]

Journal Entry Added A Quest for the Star Forge
You've discovered another ancient Star Map in the Sith Tombs of Korriban. As before, the map is incomplete. But each map you find fills in more missing pieces of the puzzle. Hopefully, once you find all the Star Maps they will give you the location of the Star Forge.
Item(s) Received Star Map
  • Star Map: Korriban

You have recorded the coordinates from the Star Map you found on Korriban into a datapad.

There's also a Sith statue at the south end of the chamber:

Item(s) Received Sith Statue

This lightsaber is quite intricate in its design, the hilt covered in delicate runes and inlaid with black markings. No doubt the purpose of the weapon is primarily ceremonial, though it certainly seems to perform as a lightsaber should.

After acquiring the Sith lightsaber, the door closes behind you. It's unlocked, but when you open it and go back down the ramp and return to the frozen acid pool to the north, you'll encounter Yuthura Ban standing to the left on its west side and Uthar Wynn standing to the right. When you step back onto the frozen acid pool:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: So you return to us with the lightsaber in hand, as I knew you would.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: The Force has served you well.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You took a great risk in acquiring the artifact. You used your mind and your power... no peaceful meditation, no pacifism. Sometimes you must fight in order to achieve. This gives you your passion, this makes you stronger. This is what makes you superior. That is the lesson we teach with that part of the final test. Do you understand?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. The Sith are not the only ones who fight and take risks.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: True, but most would say they fight only when they must... or not at all. We are the ones who know that struggle is what makes us superior.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Are you saying a Jedi couldn't have gotten the lightsaber?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: When a Jedi acts, it is with skill, true. But the Jedi teach you that your passions are counter-productive. That strength is only found in peace. Did you not feel a moment of excitement in the tomb? Did your passions not flow and make you feel stronger and more alive? What purpose would be served by restricting yourself from such? I would say only the purpose of the Jedi. Through this they would control you and restrict your potential.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I wouldn't say I exerted myself getting this.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Perhaps not, to someone of your natural strength. The point is in the recognition of the nature of the act rather than its sheer difficulty.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I don't believe you. I don't feel superior to anyone.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: If you came to the academy, you must have felt the stirrings within you that cry out for the freedom of the dark side, that cry out for release. I can only show you the path that will lead to power and superiority. You have followed it this far... you must decide if you are capable of continuing.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. And if I'm not?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: This is where your path ends, young one. There is no turning back once you have embarked on it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 5. I think I understand.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Good. The last part of your test will now commence. Here you will learn the lesson of competition. All life must compete in order to flourish. Such is the natural way of the universe. To stand still is to know death... one must always be moving forward. So is it the same amongst the Sith. Compete or die. Mercy is irrelevant. So it behooves you in this final test to strike down one you are familiar with, for no other reason than to prove you are superior and without mercy. Normally this would be against another student. You, however, get a special treat. You will fight Yuthura, here... my own apprentice.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: What?! So this is what you had planned all along. You wish me killed. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You talk too much, old fool.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Indeed. You have become too ambitious, Yuthura. It is time for you to die and someone more... talented... to take your place. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: So... you know, do you? Well, it makes no difference. You have become too ambitious, Yuthura... it is time for you to die.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: No, it is time for *you* to die, master. My pupil stands with me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Oh? Is this true, young one? You wish to join Yuthura in her foolish scheme? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Sadly, Yuthura, it is you who are mistaken. Your pupil is more ambitious than you realize... isn't that so, young one?

Regardless of how you choose to complete this final test:

Experience Points (XP) Received:
  • 840 Completed final test

The least sensible option is to fight them both at the same time, as not only is it more difficult, but it makes war with the academy inevitable:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You're both mistaken. I choose me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I'm tired of playing along with you Sith scum! You both die!!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You are indeed a fool if you think to oppose us both, young one.
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
Yuthura Ban: To think I actually believed for a moment that you and I were friends. So be it.

Otherwise:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Hmph. To think that I actually hoped you could be of use to me.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: This makes no sense. You will never become a Sith if you turn on us both! What could you hope to accomplish?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I used you both to complete my mission. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. My mission is to defeat Malak, as well as all you Sith.

If your alignment is dark (< 40):

Dark 1. I have the power to kill you both; I am the true Sith here! Light Side Points Gained: +4
2. You think I wish to be a Sith? I am a spy for the Jedi, fools!

If your alignment is light (> 60):

2. I would never become an evil Sith. I came for the Star Map.
Light 4. I did what I had to, to wipe your kind of evil from the galaxy!
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Betrayed! He/She *is* a spy!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Do not fret, my dear. All will be as it was quickly enough. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Do not fret, my dear. All will be... ugh... no! My strength... leaves me!!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You will pay for this, fool! We will destroy you!! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You will pay for this, you... you... Damn you! My strength... it's... poisoned! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: The poison! You will pay for this! We will destroy you!!

If you poisoned Yuthura as well as Master Uthar:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: The poison! You will pay for this, you... you... damn you! My blood burns!!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What can I say? I'm no fool. Dark 2. You were too easy to turn on each other. Light 2. Your evil was all too eager to turn on each other, remember? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I did what I had to. Time to die, Sith.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You will never leave here!!

The tomb door behind you and the door behind these two are both locked. The Sith receive bonuses depending on your character level:

If you haven't activated or completed Finding Dustil then you won't be able to do so if the result of this encounter is war with the academy: siding with Yuthura always gives you the opportunity to keep the peace (and move closer to the light side of the Force), whereas siding with Master Uthar only does so if you told him about Yuthura's plot and didn't subsequently report this back to Yuthura.

Side with Yuthura[edit]

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Do you hear that, my master? That is the sound of a new leader rising to replace you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: So the time has come, has it? You both wish to stand against a Sith Master and perish, do you? THEN SO BE IT!! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: So the time has come, has it? I... I will... ugh... no! My... strength leaves me!!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You are weak, Uthar, and the Force has abandoned you. We have made sure of it!

Unsurprisingly, while Yuthura joins you engaging in combat with Master Uthar, once he's been killed she turns on you:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Uthar is finished, and a new order is brought to the academy. Excellent.

If you poisoned her:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: ...unghh! The pain! My blood is burning!!
Dark 1. You were going to betray me. Don't think I don't know. Dark 2. You made it too easy for me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I did what I had to do. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Oh. That must be the poison kicking in, finally.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: D-damn you! You will never be a Sith, now! I... I will destroy you for this! You... you will not leave here alive!!

If you befriended her as well:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Unfortunately, I don't need... I don't... ...unghh! The pain! I... why did you do this to me? I thought...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Sorry, Yuthura. This is the way it has to be. Light 2. You thought wrong. I will never be a Sith. Dark 2. I have no use for you any longer. Dark 3. You thought wrong.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: D-damn you! I... I will destroy you for this! You... you will never leave here alive!!

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: While I do like you... truly... I'm afraid I'm not the type to share power with anyone. Even you. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Unfortunately for you, I don't intend to share power. It's time for you to die.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Are you sure there's no way other than this? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. But... I don't want any power! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Typical. I knew this was coming. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I was going to kill you anyway, Sith. This makes it easy!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I... I'm sure. I told you there was no such thing as friends among the Sith, didn't I? Let's... get this over with. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: As if I would ever believe that! Defend yourself, if you dare! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: If only I could believe you. Let's... get this over with. Quickly. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I... I did tell you there was no such thing as friends among the Sith, didn't I? Let's get this over with. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Then you should have no trouble defending yourself. For what it's worth.

However, after engaging in combat she yields before you can kill her:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Unghhh! Stop! I... I yield!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You are... too strong for me. Gather your hatred and strike me down... if that is your will. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You are... too strong for me. I was a fool to think otherwise. I am... at your mercy.

If you befriended her, you move closest to the light side of the Force by persuading her to leave:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You ask for mercy? You, a Sith?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I... suppose I am. Something tells me that you are... not like the other students. I don't know why that is. I... was right the first time, back at the cantina, wasn't I? There is something different about you... more so than I even suspected.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I can't talk about that. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm not here to become a Sith. I got what I came for. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I'm not all that different. I just don't want to kill you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: No, I don't suppose you can. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I didn't think you were here to train. Not really. I should have realized that sooner. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: That alone makes you different. Most of the Sith here... would not think twice about it.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: So what happens now? Will you show me mercy? Will you... just let me leave?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. You could come with me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Tell me why you tried to kill me, first.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: That's... tempting, but I don't think I could. Your path... it goes somewhere I can't follow. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You are too powerful. You would never be my second for long... if the academy even truly interested you. Light Yuthura Ban: I had no choice. You... reminded me too much of a time before I became a Sith. I... didn't want to think about that.

If your alignment is light (> 60) then she can always be persuaded:

Light 1. [Persuade] Maybe you need to think about your own path. Medium 1. [Persuade] Maybe you need to think about your own path. Always 1. [Persuade] Maybe you *should* think about it.
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: [Success] I... suppose you could be right. All the things I wanted to do, all the wrongs I wanted to right... I haven't done any of it. They just get farther and farther from my mind. All I've cared about is power and... and myself. This isn't the person I was.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. There's still time to change that.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You're right. Maybe... maybe what I needed most was peace, after all. The Jedi tried to show me that. I don't know if I can ever go back to them... but my place isn't here. Thank you... thank you for showing me that.
Light Side Points Gained: +6
Yuthura Ban: You have a destiny, my friend, and I wish you well on your way to it. May the Force... be with you.

Your final test within the tomb is over, and Master Uthar is dead. Yuthura turned on you, but you defeated her and spared her life. She decided to leave the Sith and at least speak to the Jedi that once had trained her. For the moment, the academy will not know that Master Uthar has been killed, so it may be a good time to leave Korriban while you can.

After she leaves, she can be found at the north end of the Courtyard outside the Jedi enclave on Dantooine, in the northeast corner:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Hello. It is... good to see you again.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Yuthura! So you made it here after all. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. What? What are you doing here?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I did. You told me I should rethink my path, and I did. You were right. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You are the one who suggested I rethink my path. And I have... and you were right.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: It's been very hard to let go of all those thoughts... about power and strength and victory. I don't know if I'll ever be completely free of them. The real irony is that, despite what the Sith Code says, I've never felt more free. I think I might... be able to find a little peace here. Finally.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. So the Jedi Council will let you stay?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: For now. They've been very welcoming... more than I expected. I met my old master. He... he cried when he saw me. I was embarrassed to see his weakness. Old habits die hard. But... it felt good, too. It felt good to know he missed me, that he worried about me. The Council said they would give me time to decide if I wanted to try again, if I was ready. I don't know. There's... there's so much that I've done.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. You've got a lot to atone for, I suppose. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You've seen what the dark side can do. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I think you should at least try. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I wouldn't worry about it so much.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Yes. Part of me just wants to forget it, to put it behind me... but that isn't right, either. I have to accept it and move on. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I suppose I have. It's still tempting, all that power... but I've had my fill of it and it wasn't enough. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I suppose I owe it to you, and to myself, to give the Jedi another chance. I'm not the foolish young girl I once was. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: It's not that easy for me. There's an... an ache inside me I just can't seem to quench.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: My old master said he would start exercises with me again... slowly, when I was ready. He said my experience with the dark side could make me a very wise Jedi. There is no emotion; there is peace. There is no ignorance; there is knowledge. There is no passion; there is serenity. There is no chaos; there is harmony. There is no death; there is the Force. Those words never held such resonance for me until I returned. I'd... like some serenity, some harmony. Wouldn't you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. If I had a choice, yes. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. That's not really my style.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Yes, I suppose your fate still has much in store for you, just as I saw back on Korriban. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: That's too bad. A little serenity might be useful considering the fate you have in store for you.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Do you think you might ever go back to the Sith?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I don't know. I doubt it. Even if I wanted to, the Sith would never take me back. To them, I am a traitor. But the dark side... that's a different matter. The dark side is not the Sith. I still feel its temptation strongly. My emotions are so strong. Just the other day I nearly attacked a poor Padawan for tripping into me, nearly berated his clumsiness and weakness. I didn't, thankfully, but it's difficult to fight off those feelings. How do you do it?
Dark 1. I don't. I do what I like. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I try. I'm not always successful. Light 2. It's not easy. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I'm just a natural, I guess.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: And to think I took my advice to come here from you. Ha ha! Perhaps you should follow your own counsel sometime. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: That's the worst thing to hear... how hard it is. I suppose that's the honest answer. The dark side is the easier path for a reason. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You jest, but I think I know how you really feel.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: The one thing that made me come here was how hard I had to think to remember where I began and where Yuthura the Sith Master ended. That wasn't the person I wanted to be, so how did I end up there? It... it will take some time for me to sort through that, I think.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. What about all the slavers you wanted to fight?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You know, I'd forgotten all about that until I spoke to you about it on Korriban. Strange, considering my hate for them is what made me leave the Jedi. I think... I think I've got to help myself, first, before I can help anyone else. Maybe once that happens, I can work with the Jedi to make a difference. They may work slowly, but they do make a difference, don't they?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I think they do. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Maybe a little. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Not really.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: More than the Sith did. The Sith bring more misery than the slavers ever did... I don't know why I didn't see that before. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You believe that? I believe that they're better than the Sith. The Sith bring more misery than the slavers ever did. I don't know why I didn't see that before.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I may not be able to change everything at once like I wanted to... but it would feel good to really help someone, for a change. Maybe that's a reason to change. Maybe that's a reason to stay. I... I guess I'll see.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. Why don't you come with me? I could use you at my side.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: That's... very tempting. But I'm not ready to leave here, yet. And I don't belong on the path you have to take... I told you that on Korriban. It's still true. But... perhaps you could come back, afterwards. I could certainly use a friend, then.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'd be glad to be your friend, Yuthura. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I don't know. I might not be coming back. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. We're not friends.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: That's good. I look forward to that time. Perhaps we can travel together, then. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I know. I can... see that about you. I'm not sure that we will meet again. Still... I can hope that is the case. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Oh. Well, that's too bad. I'm still grateful for what you've done for me, regardless.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I've got to go.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Then may the Force be with you, my friend. I hope we will see each other again.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Good luck, my friend. May the Force be with you.

However, her departure leaves you at war with the academy, so even if you don't fail to persuade her you may simply want to spare her to keep the peace:

Dialog
Medium 1. [Persuade] Maybe you need to think about your own path.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: [Failure] N-no... no, it's too late for me. Please... either let me go, or end it now.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Go... before I change my mind.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Very well. I... won't stop you, or mention what you've done here.
Light Side Points Gained: +4
Yuthura Ban: You have a destiny to fulfill, and that does not involve you joining the Sith... at least not yet. I won't keep you from it. May the Force serve you well.

Even if you didn't befriend her, sparing her is still an option:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Go on. Get out of here.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: As I thought. You are no Sith. A real Sith would have no hesitation in striking me down.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. That's right. I am no Sith... and I am glad of it. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. I can't do that. Just go. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. I'm showing you mercy. Don't push it.}
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Then I hope you got what you came to the academy for, whatever that was. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Mercy? You truly don't belong here, then. I hope you got whatever it was you came to the academy for.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: I... was right the first time, back at the cantina, wasn't I? There is something strange about you... more so than I even suspected. Your path leads elsewhere, to a destiny I can only guess at. Whatever it is does not involve joining the Sith... not yet, at least.
Light Side Points Gained: +4
Yuthura Ban: Go, then. Go and leave here... I'll not stop you.
Journal Entry Added The Way of the Sith
Your final test within the tomb is over, and Master Uthar is dead. Yuthura turned on you, but you defeated her and spared her life. She has returned to the academy to take over its leadership after telling you that your destiny leads elsewhere. If you wish to return to the academy in the future, Yuthura said that you would be welcomed.

Otherwise, any of the following responses allow you to kill her:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I have no problem with that. Die!! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Mercy? You won't find any here! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I... have no other choice. I'm sorry. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Good point. Time to die!!
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
Yuthura Ban: Then it ends here.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. No, it never interested me. You were a fool... now you must die. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I'm sorry, but I have to kill you now. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I can't do that. I'm sorry, but I have to kill you.
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
Yuthura Ban: I... I see. Then let us end this here.
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
Yuthura Ban: I... understand. May the Force serve you well.

Side with Master Uthar[edit]

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: You fool! You have no idea what you've done!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: The final test continues as it should. Proceed and be rewarded, young one.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: The only 'reward'... you... no! My strength... is leaving me!! Dark Side Points Gained: -6
Yuthura Ban: You... betrayed me?! I thought... we were friends! Damn you!!
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
Yuthura Ban: The only 'reward' you will get is death!!
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
Uthar Wynn: It appears, my dear, that some tests are fairer than others. I wish you luck.

Master Uthar doesn't engage in combat. If you try to speak to him:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Do not let your attention waver! Strike her down!!

Once Yuthura has been killed, he only turns on you if he wasn't told of Yuthura's plot or you reported back to Yuthura after doing so, regardless of whether or not you then poisoned him:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Excellent work, my young Sith. Your enemy lies dead at your feet and you are victorious... the final test is complete.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: I must say that it is quite disappointing that you must die now, as well, seeing as you didn't inform me earlier of Yuthura's plans. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: I must say that it is quite disappointing that you must die now, as well, since there's no telling how far your scheming with Yuthura went.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. What? But I passed your test! Dark 2. Don't be a fool, Sith. I'll destroy you. Dark 3. It's okay. I'm not here to join the Sith anyway. Light 2. It figures. You are as evil and twisted as Malak. Light 3. I am not here to join the Sith, anyway. My mission is done.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: So you did. And now I shall destroy you as I would any other Sith who betrayed me. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Destroy me? I am not Yuthura, young one. I am a Sith Master... and I tire of foolish upstarts. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Is that so? So you were a spy all along? How interesting.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: So let's get this over with, shall we? I have a new batch of candidates arriving tomorrow.

If you poisoned him:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: I must say that... unnhh! What... what is happening?! My strength is... fading! What have you done?!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Oh. That must be the poison kicking in, finally. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. You two were pathetically easy to turn on each other. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. You didn't think I actually wanted to be a Sith, did you?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You... you fool! You will never... never be a Sith, now!! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: What?! But, but... why did... you come?! Why... are you here, if not to become Sith?!

If your alignment is dark (< 40) or light (> 60) then you still have an opportunity to kill him even if he still trusts you:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You are truly a Sith in spirit, and one gifted with great power. Of this I no longer have any doubt. There is much more for you to learn, perhaps... but not here. There is... something very strange about you, young one. Something I cannot place. You are like no other student I have ever met.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Why that is, I cannot say. Your path takes you elsewhere, however, and soon. Go on to your destiny, then, and return here afterwards... if that is what you still desire.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. So am I a Sith now or not?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You have passed the final test, but I see it is not yet your destiny to join the order. Perhaps that will come in time, young one. There is much you must accomplish, first. The dark side has plans for you. As I said... return once that is done, if you desire.
Dark Side Points Gained: -4
4. My desire is to see you dead, actually.
Light 4. My desire is to see all evil such as yourself defeated.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You... you fool! You will never... never be a Sith, now!!
Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I got what I came here for. The Star Map. Dark 2. Never? I'm hurt by that. Really, I am. Dark 3. That's the idea! Time to die, scum! KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. My mission is to recover the Star Map, not become a Sith. Light 3. You are as evil and twisted as Malak. You Sith deserve to die! Light 4. I did what I had to to wipe your kind of evil from the galaxy!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: You... I will destroy you, mongrel! I will rip the flesh from your bones!!

Otherwise:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Perhaps we shall meet again. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Alright, I'll go.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: May the Force serve you well, young one.
Journal Entry Added The Way of the Sith
Your final test is over, and Yuthura is dead. You spared Master Uthar, who has returned to the academy after telling you that your destiny leads elsewhere. If you wish to return to the academy and take up your studies as a full Sith in the future, Master Uthar says that you will be welcomed.

Pillars[edit]

To the east of the junction is a ramp down to a corridor ending in a door. Before opening and stepping through through this door, save game, as it will close behind you:

[This door is locked and will not open at the moment.]

The same applies to another door at the east end of the room. There are skeletal human remains in the southeast corner:

Item(s) Received Skeletal Human Remains

All that remains in the room is a computer terminal in the northeast corner, to the right of three pillars along the north side of the room:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Computer Terminal: There are three pillars that have electronic read-outs showing the energy levels of four systems. The controls show that these systems can be transferred to other pillars. Caution! Some of the systems are very delicate and improper transfer of power can cause an electrical overload! In order to unseal the chamber, all of the following four systems must be transferred to the right pillar:

:: TOP SYSTEM :: May be transferred to any pillar safely without fear of overload.
:: MID-UPPER SYSTEM :: This system causes an overload if transferred to a pillar with an active Top System.
:: MID-LOWER SYSTEM :: This system may only be safely transferred to another pillar that either has no systems or only the Base System active.
:: BASE SYSTEM :: This large system may only be transferred to a blank pillar with no systems active in it, or it will cause an overload.

Remember: A system may be transferred to another pillar if it is the ONLY active system on that pillar or it is the LAST one listed. The current system displays on the pillars read:
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Computer Terminal: Active systems - left pillar: Base System, Mid-Lower System, Mid-Upper System, Top System
Active systems - middle pillar: No systems active
Active systems - right pillar: No systems active

This is essentially the Tower of Hanoi puzzle, and it must be solved to unseal the chamber. You must transfer the four systems from the left to the right pillar, but only the highest system on any pillar can be transferred, and it can only be transferred to another pillar if there are no higher systems on that pillar. If you find yourself unable to do this then you can reset, or you can step back from the controls at any time:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Press the 'reset systems' button.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Computer Terminal: You press the reset button. After a moment of flashing lights and whirring sounds, all the systems on the left pillar become active.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 4. See how the pillars work again.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Stop adjusting the controls.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Computer Terminal: You step back from the controls.

The four systems also reset if you make a mistake:

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Computer Terminal: There is a flash of electricity and warning lights as the systems overload and reset...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Computer Terminal: You just barely manage to press the 'reset' button in time to stop an explosion. You can tell that the system will not handle another overload, however.

The second time you make a mistake will also be your last, as the ceiling collapses on top of you:

Your entire party has been
killed.
Return to main menu.

You may want to save game again before attempting this:

Valley[edit]

Door to valley at the north end of the tomb can now be opened. Regardless of the outcome of your encounter with Master Uthar and Yuthura, the tombs of Ajunta Pall and Tulak Hord are now locked unless the Sword of Ajunta Pall and Hermit in the Hills have already been completed, you cannot return to Ebon Hawk or change party selection even if solo until you've reentered the academy and exited again, and Adrenas has left the academy even if you didn't poison Yuthura.

War[edit]

If neither Master Uthar nor Yuthura remain to lead the academy, all may still seem well upon exiting the tomb until you encounter three Sith apprentices outside the entrance to the academy. You're challenged as you approach:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: You there! How is it that you are leaving Naga Sadow's tomb by yourself? You went for your final test, didn't you? Where is Master Uthar?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Master Uthar is dead. I killed him.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: What? You... but you aren't even a Sith, yet! Surely you jest!

KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: [Failure] You lie!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. I'm not a Sith at all, actually. Now move aside. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. Just stand aside and you won't get hurt. Got it? KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Alright, you caught me. Time to die. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 2. I can kill you just as easily, fool. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 3. Not a Sith? I have killed the master, and now the academy is mine. KotOR Icon Dialog.png 1. Look... I don't need any trouble here, alright?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: It... it's a spy! Quick, to arms! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: You lie! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: Well, you've found it! If you've done anything to Master Uthar, you're going to pay for it!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: But... if the spy was able to kill Master Uthar... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: But... what if Master Uthar is really dead? How can we hope to stand up against someone who could kill him?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: Don't be such a coward! Kill the traitor! Do it now!! KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Apprentice: Don't be a sniveling coward! I will prove this one a spy... and if Uthar is dead, *I* shall become the new master!!

Upon returning to the academy, every remaining Sith is also hostile.

Sith Academy[edit]

Any party members that were with you before Master Uthar took you to the tomb of Naga Sadow will still be at the hub of the academy to the south unless you entered Solo mode beforehand to leave them elsewhere... like the entrance from the Valley. Upon entering, the first of five Sith guards attacks from behind you on the left: another still guards the exit to Dreshdae while the others still patrol the corridors to the north, east and west of the hub.

[The Academy has been sealed from within.]

You have no choice but to return to Dreshdae.

Peace[edit]

If either Master Uthar or Yuthura remain to lead the academy, then upon exiting the tomb all is well. If you convinced Lashowe to let you help her then you'll still find her at the meeting place at the north end of the valley if you haven't already done so. Upon returning to the academy, if you sided with Yuthura then you can go to the dueling room and try to persuade the Sith duelist to release all the captives:

Medium 2. [Persuade] I have orders that all the captives here are to be released.
Light Side Points Gained: +4
Sith Duelist: [Success] Hmmm... I knew something was up when Yuthura showed up and claimed control of the academy. Uthar must be planning a fight.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Duelist: [Failure] Don't be foolish. If Master Yuthura wants to send an order like that, she can bloody well tell me herself.
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Duelist: Well, you go back to wherever Master Uthar is and tell him I'm on it. I'll get these prisoners out of the academy pronto!

You can still enter the interrogation room to interrogate the Mandalorian prisoner about the weapons cache if you haven't already done so. Otherwise, any remaining Sith may comment on the outcome of the power struggle between Master Uthar and Yuthura:

Dialog
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Uthar Wynn: Your destiny lies elsewhere, young one, not with the Sith... at least, not yet. Go... and return another time, if you still wish to. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Yuthura Ban: Your destiny does not lie with the Sith... at least, not yet. The academy is mine, now... I trust you won't be remaining long, correct?
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Kel Algwinn: Have you heard? Yuthura Ban is dead. I hear Master Uthar is looking for a new apprentice. How awful... KotOR Icon Dialog.png Kel Algwinn: Have you heard? Master Uthar is dead and Yuthura Ban has taken over the academy. How brutal...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Lashowe: I understand that Yuthura is dead. Good... perhaps I will be Master Uthar's next apprentice! How glorious that would be!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shaardan: What's this I hear about Yuthura Ban being dead? You know something about that? KotOR Icon Dialog.png Shaardan: Can you believe it? They say that Yuthura took over the academy! Maybe I'll get my chance, yet!
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Sith Student: *sigh* Politics are afoot at the academy once again. You'd best be careful... a lot of people 'disappear' at a time like this.
Sith Student
Side with Master Uthar
Did you hear? Yuthura is dead. Master Uthar said so. I bet she got too impatient and failed to assassinate him. Idiot.
I heard that Yuthura Ban was dead. I suppose that means Master Uthar will be taking a new apprentice, soon.
Side with Yuthura
Have you heard? Yuthura... I mean Master Yuthura has taken over the academy! Well done, I say!
Master Yuthura has taken over the academy. Everyone's talking about it! I guess she finally got rid of Uthar, somehow.
Sith Teacher: There are... tremors in the Force. I fear things have changed greatly, here. Are you responsible for this? Sith Teacher: Bah. I hate it when things start to change so rapidly. We lose more teachers that way...
KotOR Icon Dialog.png Tariga: Greetings, fellow student. Have you heard the news? Master Uthar reports that his apprentice, Yuthara, is dead. How unsettling. KotOR Icon Dialog.png Tariga: You return to the academy in an odd time. Master Yuthara has just taken over leadership. No doubt there will be many other changes to come.
