Company Copyright info

The only case I know of at the moment, but I can see this happening more, is of Nintendo saying that 1) all digital media is theirs (screenshots for instance), and 2)nothing can be used from their website. (http://www.nintendo.com/corp/faq.jsp#articles)

Tables and lists

Perhaps it should be worth mentioning that, like screenshots, pure lists of information cannot be copyrighted. Only the presentation of that data can be copyrighted by a guide writer. I've seen more than a few cases where a FAQ writer though that because they had made a list of all the enemies in the game and their stats, that any other list with the same stats was automatically a copyright violation. - Koweja 20:40, 5 November 2007 (CST)

Screenshots

It seems like the section about screenshots is focusing on what to do with screenshots you find on the net. It is more important to explain when they are suitable for guide use in general than when it's ok to take them from elsewhere.--Henke37 (talk) 08:37, 26 April 2022 (UTC)

Truth be told, this entire page is pretty out of date. The image licensing has been thoroughly revamped, Ty vs Publication link is dead, your aforementioned screenshot section is pretty old, and we use different and new sets for icon sets—just in this section alone. It would probably be best to redraft and ultimately rewrite this page. If I have time, I might be able to get to it myself in a month or so, or you yourself could do it.
