Determined to become the pride of India, Darun was a wrestler with tremendous power and success. His wide variety of moves were legendary across the land. He believed there were none better than himself until a heckler in the crowd suggested that he was inferior to the Red Cyclone from Russia. Never before had such an insult been directed at him, and he could never forget it.
He began to travel the world in search of the Red Cyclone so that he could challenge him to match, but he ran out of money while visiting an Arabian country. Looking for a way to earn money so he could return home, someone suggested that a local magistrate was looking for a bodyguard to protect his daughter. Not relishing the thought of baby sitting a little girl, he inquired about the position anyway. He agreed to accept the position with the idea of leaving as soon as he earned enough money to return home… until he laid eyes on the magistrate's daughter, Pullum Purna. Never before had Darun seen such a beautiful woman. Thoughts of challenging the Red Cyclone or returning to his home vanished.
Pullum was interested in only one thing: proving to the world that women fighters are just as deadly as men. She entered the Street Fighter EX tournament and dragged Darun along. Darun had never witnessed a tournament such as this and yearned to enter the tournament himself, but he felt that his obligation to protect Pullum was more important. That changed the moment that he learned that Zangief, the Red Cyclone himself, would be a contestant in the tournament. No longer interested in guarding Pullum, he entered the tournament for the chance to fight Zangief.
Darun did indeed challenge and fight Zangief. The results of the battle were inconclusive, but the two fighters did gain each other's mutual respect. So much in fact that they agreed to be partners in the third EX tournament, much to Pullum's disappointment. She was counting on Darun's assistance as her partner since he was the only fighter that she knew personally.
