When you go down the pipe at the start of World 1, you will enter Special 1. All levels in this world are already unlocked, but if you're a 100% person, you will want to play the other levels. Before you read this guide, you might want to read about the more special levels.

Types of Special levels[edit]

  • In Speedrun levels, you have 30 seconds on the timer and there are blue clocks all over the place (sometimes there are a few green ones). In clones, the original location of some Star Medals will now hold blue clocks. You know that it's one of these if the level starts with the "hurry up" sound and a picture of the timer with 30 seconds.
  • Cosmic Mario levels are based on the levels of the same name from Super Mario Galaxy 2. A model of Small Mario is made out of antimatter during a period of time (during this time, he's harmless). When Cosmic Mario is fully created, he will hurt you if you touch him. Cosmic Mario copies your every move. You know it's one of these if it starts with a cutscene showing Cosmic Mario running towards the camera laughing.
  • Giant Cosmic Mario levels are the same as Cosmic Mario levels, except that Cosmic Mario is gigantic, has a lower voice and can destroy bricks (except those containing something) and pillars. You know it's one of these if the Cosmic Mario Running cutscene plays before the level with Cosmic Mario's voice being lower.
