In the game, you will find/rescue 4 familiar faces. You can only have 1 party member on the field at any one time, but you can switch between them at any time.

to flip between 2D and 3D
The main character of the game. You will be using him more then anyone else do to his flip special ability but don’t stay in 3D to long.
[edit] Princess Peach
- Base Attack: 1
- Defense: 0
- Special Ability: After jumping, hold the
button to use her umbrella to float even further. When on the ground, press 
to use her umbrella as a shield.
You find Peach just after Chapter 1. Use her umbrella to get across long gaps safely and to defend against tough opponents.

- Base Attack: 2
- Defense: 0
- Special Ability: Press to breathe fire
You find Bowser in Chapter 3. His size and weight prevents him from jumping as high or to run as fast as the other characters. Also he gets hit pretty easily.
You're mainly going to use Bowser's fire breath. You can use his fire breath to light candles.

- Base Attack: 1
- Defense: 0
- Special Ability: Hold then release to perform a super jump that doubles your attack power.
Luigi joins you in Chapter 6. Luigi is a lot like Mario without the flip ability. You'll use him a lot later in the game for his jumping ability but when he runs to fast stopping is a problem.
