So, my primary method of capturing screenshots for this game is using Steam's screenshot button. The result is a .jpg. Can I just use .jpg's for the walkthrough section or should I try to convert to .png? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Flufftailer (talkcontribs) .

A few things:
  1. For high resolution images (anything above 640 x 480 really), jpg is fine because you're likely going to shrink the image down in the guide, so there's no point in uploading an uncompressed image.
  2. There's no point in converting from jpg to png. Once the image is lossy, you can never get back to a lossless image, so converting to a png will only increase the size of the file, not the quality of the image.
  3. If you're really interested, see this page for instructions on how to save Steam screenshots in png format. But like I said, for high res (greater than 640 x 480), jpg is fine.

Oops. And thank you. Flufftailer (talk) 21:02, 13 October 2015 (UTC)
There are two reasons I haven't uploaded more screenshots for this game. One, I'm somewhat lazy and have other things to consume time. Two, the next update is expected to overhaul the UI and tutorial, so anything that involves them may become outdated quickly. When that update comes through, I'll try to get screenshots.--Flufftailer (talk) 22:12, 21 November 2015 (UTC)

I'm trying to decide if I should take the remaining screenshots (for other planets) at 1920x1080 or go back to 1366x768. Higher resolutions show more area, but more area isn't always useful. For example, I just took a shot of Xiwang's Underground. I landed with low res and then swapped to high res. The rectangle without fog is the only thing visible at lower resolution. High res shows the whole width, but also shows extra space at the side. (This happens to have the side effects of the screen shaking during combat and the mini-map being useless.) I'm considering swapping back and forth depending on the situation, but I would rather be consistent. Thoughts? Flufftailer (talk) 00:35, 28 May 2017 (UTC)

I would say go with the smallest size that still shows what you're trying to demonstrate, in keeping with the spirit of wp:Fair use. -- Prod (talk) 01:31, 28 May 2017 (UTC)
