footer navs[edit]

I wouldn't mind running around adding the footer navs to all of the pages that are missing them. Random grunt work is no problem for me. My only concern is screwing things up. Would it be alright if the footer navs navigated in the order the ToC is in? Also, are there any pages that are not supposed to have them? --Zaiqukaj 08:04, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

Footer Navs are mainly for the toc pages, or if there is a logical progression between pages. Apart from the monsters pages, nothing much needs the links. -- Prod (Talk) 19:42, 26 June 2007 (CDT)
OK, monsters by levels now all have footers. At the beggining and end they go back to monsters. I hope thats ok. --Zaiqukaj 10:43, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
Looks good to me. Nice work. :-) --DrBob (Talk) 11:34, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

FAQ section[edit]

Man, that thing is a nightmare. I put a warning at the top that it's not a talk page. I tried fixing it, there was SO many spelling errors and a lot of incorrect information. It's in need of a complete rewrite or possible removal. In addition, I was wondering if we should create a "Pets/mounts" page, as there's quite a few of them and in some versions they have innate differences in skills and such. IsaacGS 00:15, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

Well thanks for cleaning up the page. Pets/mounts page would be useful considering we're getting those mounts in GMS soon. I guess everyone was too lazy to figure out what to include and exclude. This includes me. GameFreak 03:12, 31 March 2007 (CDT)

OMFG GMS Exclusive maps![edit]

On the nexon website: http://maplestory.nexon.net/WZ.ASPX?PART=/Community/GM_Blog&mode=view&uid=23&bbsidx=7616&cat=26 hope that link works, if not check the GM blogs. It's Called New Leaf City, seems to be a mesh of all the major cities in the world. Really cool. I'm so excited, and right after I pretty much singlehandedly defeated Geist balrog. I'm really up on adrenaline right now, so exciting! I'm gonna start a page for it right now. --IsaacGS 20:12, 15 June 2007 (CDT)

Do you expect it is going to be a World Tour Area? - Wkkim9292 22:07, 15 June 2007 (CDT)
I do, it may be a while before other versions see it. I just hope they want it and it doesn't suck like Floating Market. XD--IsaacGS 22:49, 15 June 2007 (CDT)::
They just had a question and answer section on the Nexon forums and I got a few in representing us. As a side note, the Nexon representative told me "good work on the Amoria PQ guide" so they look at strategywiki. <3 Wow, wonder if that's important enough for Wikipedia? I'll post the complete Q&A when we've got it.--IsaacGS 22:32, 25 June 2007 (CDT)

Here's the complete Q&A:

NLC has been in development for a while. This is not just something quick and dirty, it's an area that will grow and expand. We have some different features planned for the areas as well. We're not looking at it as "Only level X can train here", it's being developed so everyone will eventually be able to enjoy the area and train. This includes our high-level population.
Q:will we get NLC before or after showa?
A: Can't really comment on this one.
Q:is there a gachapon machine there?
A: You'll find out when it opens...
Q:is there any skin doctor, eye doctor, hair stylist, etc?
A: Yes to all those.
Q: Will the town include a Party Quest?
A:What an interesting question. I'll leave this one for a later date.
Q: Will the town include a boss and if so what kind (mushmom type, balrog type, zakum type, etc)?
A:This is trickier to answer, but I will say this. I grew up in Brooklyn and Manhattan. I've heard plenty of urban legends. So, you'll have to wait and see for this one...
Q: How will we access the town? I am guessing the World Tour but can you can confirm this?
A:I won't say how yet, but it isn't the World Tour.
Q: Will there be any user created hairs in the town? I know some people sent them in for the weapon design contest that I would like to see in the game ^.^
A:Heh, not exactly. =)
Q:Have the drop lists been finalized?
A:We'll go into further details about this a little later.
Q:Will the "continent" take us through different periods of time as well as different parts of the earth?
A:Hmm. I'll say that we'll revisit this. I don't want to go into extreme details, because we want everyone to discover what's there. But I can say that I'm a big fan of secrets and puzzles. And when you're a mid-level to advanced player, your mind should be challenged as well as your multitude of skills.

As a separate point, I'm hoping that someone figures out how to get those capes from the Amorian Party Quest...

Q:What will the monsters be off of, like will there be a slum-like area with ganger-like monsters, pitbulls, and the such?
A:Slum-like area? Not quite. The monster concepts are somewhat different than what's normally seen. They retain humor while expressing something new. Best I can do right now. =)
Q:ahem, like i said before, will there be monsters that are COMPLETELY new.. if you don't answer this time i give up...
A:Heh, I answered this about as clear as I could. Yes.
Q:I know you're saying Nexon hasn't forgotten the higher-leveled players in terms of monsters and maps, but how about quests? (Worth doing, preferably)
A:Quests either. High-level content is more of a challenge, but rewarding, because we can make them harder. This doesn't necessarily mean drop rate, there's a few things we're going to implement and see if they work for you guys. I'm sure you'll let us know either way =).
Q:Is NLC gonna be loaded with pop culture references like some of Taiwan's exclusive maps?
A:Heh, hopefully, you'll see some stuff there that'll make you chuckle. The pop culture references are always fun, so we always do our best to work of this in.
Q:If this isn't going to join the world tour, will we contribute something to the world tour for other versions to enjoy? Also, is this related to Amoria in anyway (Like perhaps how to get there, or so on.)?
A:For your first question, details like that are worked out a lot later. And it has no direct relation to Amoria, as in, it's not how you get there or anything like that.
Q:Will you make the monsters plausible to train on... please? Like... not for 2% an hour at 10x...
A:We'll do our best too, yes. In particular, we're interested in seeing how much you guys can actually handle at once. I don't necessarily mean Zakum style. I grew up playing Gunstar Heroes, Vectorman, Donkey Kong Country, the Marios and Sonics, etc, where you combined platforming, dodging and attacking to win. The last portion of the Amorian Party Quest has some of that, and its' been well-received, so maybe we'll try a few more stages like that in the future.
Q:Do you have any concept art of the place that you'd be willing to release any time soon?
A:We're talking about it, nothing finalized yet though. When we make a decision, you'll know =).
Q:I'm curious as to your allusion to the Amoria capes. Any hints on how we can get a hold of those?
A:Hmm. Well, I can say there is a method to it, but you have to figure it out. That's part of the fun.

I wish you luck. And as a side note, good job with the Guide. Wink (haha, cool.)

Q:what else will Nexon be focusing on aside from new land?
A:Well, as Stoveboy said, we have quite a few things we're planning, so stay tuned.
Q:Is Cody's dream for a theme park going to be honored in any way, shape, or form?
A:Yes.
Q:I would like to know if you have a maple story character and if so what lvl, job, and world do you play in? XD
A:I have quite a few, highest being the 91 I/L Mage and the lowest being a Level 7 Beginner. I like to keep a few characters low level to gauge difficulty for new players.
Q:I know it's difficult, but will you try to make content that requires every class to work together?
A:It's tricky. Something like this would have to be planned out fairly far in advance. Not saying it won't happen, but we have a lot on our plate the coming months.
Q:I hope there's a gigantic alligator boss in the sewers, obviously you can't reveal anything but I've always been attracted to the gloom and doom of a sewer environment, with something dripping in the darkness.
A:I've beaten Resident Evil 2 many, many times. The darkness in particular plays well in that stage...
Ok everyone. Thanks for posting, I know that you would've liked some more direct answers, but more is forthcoming. Thanks for playing. =)
So, there's some info there. Interesting. The Amoria PQ capes has me particularly confused at the moment, we're all working on it now.--IsaacGS 01:08, 26 June 2007 (CDT)

KoreaMS July Patch...[edit]

1.KoreaMS is getting a new map called Magatia which is located at North of Ariant.

2.KoreaMS is getting Amoria.

3.The every monster's name and HP will be shown.

4.A new Party Quest for High Level Players.

5.21st World

We are getting many things. Magatia is translated from (마가티아). To look at this article, we need an account so when the patch is up, I will put more details on it. - Wkkim9292 23:27, 17 June 2007 (CDT)

Great job breaking the news once again. I'm pretty surprised that KMS got Amoria before JMS.--IsaacGS 23:48, 17 June 2007 (CDT)
About this Magatia PQ, is anything known about it? Do we even know for a fact that it takes place in Magatia? The current translations i've seen on Sleepywood are calling it "Romeo and Juliet" PQ, and the google translation also comes out with Juliet. --IsaacGS 18:49, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
Some Magatia PQ info has appeared on Insoya. The boss seems to be some sort of Frankenstein monster, and most of the PQ looks like it's in the same sort of Laboratory setting. --IsaacGS 21:11, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Info for Towns[edit]

I was thinking about it, and maybe there's some more info we can add to the towns pages. For one, we can add the hairstyles that are available in each of the towns that has a hair salon. As far as I know, that would be Kerning, Henesys, Amoria, Ludibrium, Orbis, Mu Lung, and Showa Town. Not sure if there's hair in Ximending or Yuyuan, but I know there isn't in Shanghai or Thailand. The GMs also said there would be in New Leaf City. There could be other important things like this, I can't think of any at the moment. But a lot of people have been asking about what hair goes in a certain town lately.--IsaacGS 18:31, 28 June 2007 (CDT)

New Leaf City is the one coming to MSea, right? OhanaUnitedTalk page 03:35, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
New Leaf City is Global's "Exclusive" area. The one MSEA is getting is based on Singapore and coming out in August. They haven't released a name yet, which is why I'm hesitant to add it to the guide yet. --IsaacGS 20:58, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Yep, I just happened to find this picture on the MapleSEA forums. here. It also said something about a 3rd quarter release in 2007, so that would put it for a July, August, or September release. -- Takiten 00:48, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
Hadn't seen that, but there was a screenshot of a MSEA GM saying it would come out in August. --IsaacGS 01:58, 30 June 2007 (CDT)
There are Hair Shops in Yuyuan and Night Market. I saw Night Market having it and found out that Yuyuan has it by watch a ChinaMS video. - Wkkim9292 17:23, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Alright. Also, what about like, a list of NPCS available in each town? I know it varies some from version to version, but most of the people visiting here are from global and SEA. I might try these new additions out on the Henesys page.--IsaacGS 20:58, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
If you're willing to support anything you start, I'm all for it :) I'd just like to know what the end benefit is? -- Prod (Talk) 22:22, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Well, I believe it was you who said some of the towns pages are very small. I'm trying to put some additional info on there in an easily accessible manner. I'm just finishing up with Henesys, we'll see how it looks. It can have each of the NPCs link to what quests they're involved in, for one.--IsaacGS 22:32, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Heh, that was when they started :P. Now they've got quite a bit of info (they do need a bit of cleanup... I haven't gotten around to it yet though). I would suggest just sticking to the NPCs who give quests because it's a pain to keep the others updated when new NPCs keep appearing and old NPCs get renamed, and sauna is better at it anywayz. -- Prod (Talk) 08:35, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
You're probably right about that... Uploading even just the ones for henesys took a long time. Quest NPCs could also have the pictures located next to what quests they're involved in. I'll move some stuff around and try to set it up like that.--IsaacGS 11:05, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
Alright, check out Perion. Each NPC is listed with all of the quests associated with them there. If this is good, I'll put links to each quest and then the NPCs associated with the quest, at that point in the quest page. Tell me what you think.--IsaacGS 23:49, 8 July 2007 (CDT)

Monster Carnival[edit]

Someone marked Monster Carnival is only available at Anniversary in Template, but KoreaMS still has Monster Carnival. Is it sure that Monster Carnival is going to get removed soon? - Wkkim9292 17:25, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

Guess we were wrong... If you are sure that it is still in KMS, then it should just be changed to a "Yes" to mean it is staying. But KMS hasn't patched this month yet have they? So maybe we should wait until the next KMS patch and see if it is taken out then. Wait, KMS's anniversary was in April, and there has been a patch in May, which would have taken it out. But if It is still in, then that means it's probably staying. -- Takiten 20:13, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
Wow, that's interesting. Didn't know it was still there. Wonder if it will become permanent in JMS as well. --IsaacGS 20:54, 29 June 2007 (CDT)
I just saw the note on the template. Their anniversary event seemed Identical to KMS's, so I thought they might be getting the carnival... As you may know, they just IP banned pretty much everyone, so I can't get on and see anymore. --IsaacGS 21:12, 29 June 2007 (CDT)

MapleSEA Singapore exclusive maps[edit]

Since it is confirm that the maps will be release in August why don't we add a SEA maps into maplestory:town with infomation gather just like global new leaf city --XreddevilsX

The reason I have been hesitant to add the Singapore map is because we don't actually know the town's name yet. If they announce that it is called "Sentosa" or whatever, then It'll be added immediately. Also, unlike New Leaf City, the mapleSEA developers aren't releasing much, if any, info on that town, whereas every weekday we learn more about Global's due to the Q&A sessions. The page would pretty much just say "this will be a World Tour map created by MapleSEA that comes out in August. It is based on Singapore." and that's it.

Also, don't forget to sign by using ~~~~ four tilde or by clicking http://strategywiki.org/w/skins/common/images/button_sig.png --IsaacGS 13:50, 1 July 2007 (CDT)

IP blockings[edit]

Well, ThailandMS is no longer the only version with an IP block on downloads. EuroMS is also starting this practice (how long it has been in effect, I don't know, but it's there now.) And the rumors seem to point to it happening for some others. If anyone on here has access to the European version, please say so. It would be incredibly helpful if the installer and/or several .WZ files (namely Map and Mob) could be uploaded to some other server that doesn't discriminate by IP. The main reason why is that EMS has gained an exclusive PQ (dunno if it will be temporary) and I want to right a guide up for it. --IsaacGS 19:48, 4 July 2007 (CDT)

I Have managed to acquire a download now. From what I hear, this PQ is a one-time deal, so it's probably temporary. However, in the Event notice from the site, there's a VERY detailed Eiffel Tower in the background, done in Maple Style. EMS world tour map?--IsaacGS 20:37, 4 July 2007 (CDT)
Maple Europe is blocking IP from the States, I don't know if it is blocking IP from other regions. Even AOL users in Europe could not log on to game. The problem is know fixed.
Maple Global is bocking IP from Europe [only creating new accounts, old players from Europe still remain there]. I live in Poland and in my country we still can create new accounts, maybe Wizet thinks that Poland is in Asia [or we have asian IPs, never thought about it]. I have no information if AOL users in Europe can crate accounts there. Vigilium 01:58, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
Well, I got it downloaded and installed, and found out a few interesting things. The Bastille is in the same area of the data as Amoria PQ... There's also 3 different versions of the PQ, probably because of level ranges and stuff. Should this PQ be added, since it's a one time thing? A single character can only go in one time and never return. --IsaacGS 15:43, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
It sounds like a PQ that could return yearly in July (assuming this holiday or whatever is always held in July). You might get to do it again, but only once a year. -- Takiten 16:51, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
Is that a PQ or just a quest? The EMS website doesn't mention anything about the EMS exclusive PQ. - Wkkim9292 17:55, 5 July 2007 (CDT)
In Europe ppl call it Lith Harbor PQ, or Ria PQ. It is part of Event [French Revolution Day]. The Reward for it are 5,000 Experience and Three Coloured Hat (40 Def and ppl can wear it till 3rd of August).Vigilium 05:39, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Rock Paper Scissors[edit]

Is it still available in JMS and ThMS? Because KMS doesn't have it anymore. I checked it and it was gone a long time ago. - Wkkim9292 18:02, 5 July 2007 (CDT)

It's still available in ThMS~ [1] -- PiPU 05:34, 6 July 2007 (CDT)
The last time I logged in to JMS it was still there. Unless they removed it with the patch that blocked Americans, it should still be in game.--IsaacGS 18:47, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

Helios Tower in ThailandMS[edit]

I have found out that even EuropeMS has Helios Tower. It is currently not known if ThailandMS has Helios Tower or not. I know that it doesn't lead Korean Folk Town in ThailandMS yet. Does Helios Tower exist in ThailandMS? - Wkkim9292 19:54, 6 July 2007 (CDT)

It doesn't exist. -- PiPU 09:57, 9 July 2007 (CDT)

Maple island add-on[edit]

Me and IsaacGS want to add Maple island add-on to area table. We know that eMS, cMS, gMS and mSEA don't have it but what about jMS, tMS and twMS? -- Hurricane 08:49, 21 July 2007 (CDT)

Specifically, we're talking about the modifications that cause Pigs, stumps, and Slimes to spawn on Maple Island. I think there's other changes that go with it (additional quests, Green apples, etc.) so it's a rather major change. --IsaacGS 01:26, 21 July 2007 (CDT)
I thought that only KMS has add-on. Does other versions have it too? - Wkkim9292 17:23, 21 July 2007 (CDT)
So far it doesn't seem like it. I am downloading the latest version of the TaiwanMS client.--IsaacGS 18:48, 21 July 2007 (CDT)
ThailandMS doesn't have. ^^ -- PiPU 06:07, 22 July 2007 (CDT)

In-Game Music[edit]

Should we host a collection of in-game music? I have most (maybe all) of the bgm for Global, and can easily upload it here in the .ogg format, but I was wondering if/how we should do it. --Skizzerz Scissors.pngSafety Skizzerz Talk · Contribs · Spel Chek™ · VFG · RTFM 16:28, 8 August 2007 (CDT)

It's interesting you should mention that. I was just helping someone ID and categorize every single BGM from every version just the other day. Seeing as how (now) one of these libraries exists already, I don't see a need to duplicate the content.--IsaacGS 16:55, 8 August 2007 (CDT)
The files can easily be taken directly from the data files. However, that might be cutting fair use a bit too close. It also provides no gameplay benefit so I would have to say no. -- Prod (Talk) 16:57, 8 August 2007 (CDT)
