A Proposition[edit]

Not trying to be rude here, but copying it right from Wikipedia really isn't how it's supposedly done. Besides, this information is mostly script-related, and less game-wise focused. So I suggest we remove this one and rewrite a more relevant page on the characters.

Copying from WikiPedia is how it's done. First of all, WP tries not to have this amount of information about video games, and prefers it to be moved to a video game-centric wiki (as mentioned in the WP article's talk page). Secondly, they publish under the same license as us, which means we can freely use their content with proper attribution (as seen in the page's history). And lastly, WP has people that check for drivel and tone, so in general it is a good source of clean, well-written content.
I don't know what you mean by "script-related, and less game-wise focused" - it describes the characters in the game; what's wrong with it? That being said, if you want to rewrite it go for it, that's what a wiki's all about, just don't delete anything without replacing it. - najzere 20:48, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
Okay, I think you got me wrong here. The stuff is clean and well-written, and I'm not saying you are plagiarizing by copying it from Wikipedia. What I meant was this is more about the game script than the game itself. Like, how the player can interact with these characters and what effect it will have on the game. E.G. "By acting friendly to Therese, the player can choose the option of having her 'killing' Jeannette." or something like that.

Of course, I'm not completely sure about Strategy Wiki's guidelines and policies so I can be wrong about this, but I just thought this should be more about the gameplay than anything else. J.S.Lucindy 20:42, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

A couple things to keep in mind are that this is a characters page separate from the walkthrough and that this is a role-playing game. People coming to the characters page are interested in the characters, and people playing this game enjoy role-playing, of which the characters' backgrounds and stories are integral. I've read over the page and it seems like the game itself has a very complex, layered plot, so a greater degree of detail is needed in explaining its characters. I understand you'd like to stick to the gameplay, and that's what the walkthrough is for. Ancillary pages like character bios or sidequests serve to bolster the completeness of a guide. Often these pages don't have anything necessary for completing the game itself, but are of interest to fans of the game or have an impact on optional elements in the game. If you have something else to add to the characters which is more concrete, like stats or strategies, feel free to add them. Character bios and even the complete storylines of games, are currently withing StrategyWiki's scope, from what I've seen on other guides, many of which are at greater levels of completion than this one. - najzere 08:03, 26 December 2008 (UTC)
Allright, I think I see what you meant, and I agree with you. It's just I thought it would help the players more by putting information about the gameplay as well, especially because of the game's complex and dynamic script. But I suppose we can write those things in a separate subpage, too. Thank you for explaining these to me. After all, isn't that why we are all editing? J.S.Lucindy 03:41, 27 December 2008 (UTC)
