[edit] Reverse Parameter Input
Who started this trend anyways? It's ugly, and it's a waste of time. Having to split up dates in a weird manner rather than how you would type them: 1993, November 26 rather than November 26, 1993 doesn't make any sense. Why do we have it this way and why isn't it the other, normal way? --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 14:45, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
- As far as I know DrBob made the template this way. The problem is there are a lot of pages that reference it in the current way, so if we do change it the old pages will display the date backwards (1993, November 26 or whatever) until someone goes back and change them all. That's not to say it shouldn't be done, but that is a consideration. GarrettTalk 15:23, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
- Time and effort are both things we have in excess. --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 21:50, 22 August 2007 (CDT)
- Reasoning being that the year is usually known, but it's much harder to figure out the exact day. If we do change, we'd have to leave the Month/day parameter blank (so {{rd||1900}}). -- Prod (Talk) 21:27, 23 August 2007 (CDT)
- So it's weird format vs saving space... --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 22:07, 23 August 2007 (CDT)
- In its current form, the template checks that the given pages exist before linking them (
doesn't become a link); it would be a simple matter to adjust the current design to make an additional pipe unnecessary. GarrettTalk 22:49, 23 August 2007 (CDT)
- I want to see what DB has to say; since he's the one who's been changing all of these. --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 01:46, 24 August 2007 (CDT)
- I would personally prefer we keep the extra pipe, since it signifies that more info is needed. -- Prod (Talk) 21:06, 24 August 2007 (CDT)
- Discussion's moved here. --DrBob

Also nice would be Netherlands. --Notmyhandle (talk • contribs) 02:57, 29 November 2007 (CST)
[edit] false information
Taiwan is not a country, Taiwan is a island that is occupied by the Republic of China, also there are two Chinas, Bad China (People's Republic of China) and Good China (Republic of China), so there should be a separate template. Also, what about a Soviet Union one, there are some Soviet games out there u know.--xgmx (T | C | D | R) 14:18, 15 June 2008 (CDT)
- From wikipedia: "Taiwan" is also commonly used to refer to the territories governed by the Republic of China (ROC) and to ROC itself, which governs the island of Taiwan...
- Things are released with dates specific to "Taiwan" so we cover it that way. -- Prod (Talk) 14:25, 15 June 2008 (CDT)
