By now, you should be getting quite used to the controls and how Spider-man will act when given certain commands. This level will throw you for a loop if you are not paying close attention. It contains several rooms that look nearly identical. It will be easy to get lost as you move left or right from one room to the next not sure of whether you moved forward, backward, or just wrapped around into the same room. Not sure what I mean? Perhaps it's easier to show you than to tell you.

Enter Leo[edit]

From the lift, shoot the mummy with a web as it walks over the button on the right.

Drop to the bottom to heal all the rat bites, then shut the clacker to save your progress and open the door into the next level. Climb up through the hole and look around. There are 2 mummies walking around amid columns with very damaging fire on top. Remember the fire, because it is what you will hit if you fall down in the room above. But before you worry about that, you must get there. Watch the mummy for a little bit and take note of what the buttons it walks over does to the lift on the left.

Your first instinct may be to find a way to kill the mummy, perhaps by trapping it under the lift, but that is the last thing you want to do. Remember back in the first level when you needed the rat to step on a button to open a door? Well, it's the same deal here. You need the mummy to hit the lift button and take you up. Crawl across the ceiling and jump onto the lift when it is down. Wait for the mummy to hit the button on the right, then immediately hit him with a web. If all goes well, he will freeze over the "up" switch and you will continue up into the next screen.

Shoot a web across as soon as you jump to make it across.

If the mummy dies while going under the lift, you have two choices. Number A, hit esc and restart the level from the Take. Your score will be reset, but you won't be set that far back adventure-wise. Number B, you can hit the button on the right to free the extra mummy. It's rare that this game gives you second chances, so take advantage of it while you have it and don't mess up this time. ; )

When the lift brings you into the next screen, unless you mess up and fall, the lift will stay up here. You are now faced with a huge chasm that would be impassable by just about anyone else. However, since you are Spider-man, you can sling a web and swing across. All the web slinging you've done up to this point was just practice- here's where it all matters. Leap out into the void and immediately sling a web up to the top. Cut it on the upswing and land neatly on top on the lion. Crawl through the hole behind Leo to enter...

Leo's Maze[edit]

These next few rooms are difficult to describe and are unique because they are identical. Ironic, right? Because it is so easy to get lost and turned around, the usual walkthrough won't work here. Instead, here's a general guideline for getting through the maze alive.

Although the rooms seem the same, there are several different way to find out what room you are in. First of all, you can mark what rooms you have been in by hitting the buttons at the bottom and releasing the rats. Second, pay attention to what direction the lions' heads (at the top) are facing. Each room has a switch to change one or both of the lions' heads. Explore each room and find these switches and work through the room accordingly. For instance, in the first room, the switch to turn the right lion's head is on the second ledge under the right lion. In other rooms, it will be somewhere else so if the switch is here, you know you are in the first room.

The key to solving Leo's Maze is to only go through the opening on the right when both lions at the top are facing right. If they aren't, you may end up walking into the same room or back a room by walking through the opening to the right. Remember that the lions' heads, and nothing else, are the key.

The first two screens contain rats, the third screen contains a mummy that constantly switches the right lion's head to the left, and the fourth contains rats and only one opening on the right. When you get to the room with all the openings on the right blocked up except for one, you are about to enter the next section.

Roaring Flames[edit]

At the end of the maze, you will end up here. Be very careful, though, as it is unforgiving.

This room is absolutely unforgiving. You must do everything right or you will have to start over at the Take. Each of the concrete blocks in front of you with a button on it will collapse if you step on top of it. Make each of these collapse, staying out of the mummy's way. When all of the platforms with buttons on them are gone, jump back up to opening where you came into the room. Your next step is to get the moving platform at the top moving. Do this by crawling onto the golden face sticking out of the wall above you.

Now that the platform is moving, we advance to the hard part. You will only have one chance to do this next part, so read it and understand it before you try anything. The concrete ceiling above the rat is an illusion- you can fire a web through it. Jump up onto the moving platform above. From here, fire a web down and to the right and hit the golden face sticking out of the wall by the rat. It will drop the rat onto the fire. The rat will walk across the fire and over the button at the bottom. This will temporarily expose the button above the mummy. Whatever way you can, get down there and hit that button. The rat will die before it can hit the button again, so you only have one chance to hit it. If the platform hits you and hurts you, don't worry about it, hitting the button is more important.

When you manage to hit the button, allow the platform to return to its normal position and crawl back through the opening you came through. Go back through the maze by crawling through the left opening when the lion on the left is facing left. You'll find that it's much easier to go back through the maze than it was to go forward Eventually, you'll get back to Leo and the huge black chasm. On the other side, you'll notice that there is a lift going up into the ceiling. Swing back across and jump onto the lift. It will take you up and into Take 4.
