The most prominent feature of The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask are the many masks that can be obtained throughout the game. Certain masks you will acquire automatically through the main progression of the story and others must be found by way of exploration and sidequests. In total, there are 29 masks in the game. Each mask has it's own unique properties which can help you achieve certain tasks during the game.
This section lists the masks of the game in detail. Listed for each mask will be the properties of the mask when worn, location where you acquire the mask, requirements you will need to obtain the mask, how to get the mask, and some masks will have common uses listed. Each mask will be labeled as either required or optional. Required means that the mask must be obtained to finish the game. Masks will be listed by type, and in the order in which you're able to obtain them.

These are masks which let you transform into another type of creature, gaining special powers which usually include a special type of instrument, mode of transportation, and magical ability.
Clock Town
Complete the Prologue, then learn the Song of Healing from the Happy Mask Salesman in the Clock Tower. When you play the song, you will get the Deku Mask.
Mountain Village
Go to Goron Village which is north of Clock Town. Talk to the owl on the east side of the village. Follow him by watching where his feathers fall. Enter the shrine and get the Lens of Truth. Go back to Goron Village and look for an invisible floating Goron using the Lens of Truth. Talk to him and then start following him using the Lens of Truth to see him. Follow him all the way up a cliff face and then talk to him. Play the Song of Healing for him and you will get the Goron Mask.
Great Bay Coast
Go to Great Bay which is west of Clock Town. You need Epona to jump the fence to get there. In the water just off the beach, look for some seagulls flying around a body in the water. It is the Zora Mikau. Talk to him and then play the Song of Healing for him to get the Zora Mask.
Stone Tower Temple
None
The Giant's Mask is found in a treasure chest outside of the boss's chamber in the Stone Tower Temple. Beat the Eyegore and the chest will appear.
The Moon
After beating all 4 temples, you will be transported to the moon. Give all 20 of your Happy Masks to the 4 kids running around on the moon. Then, talk to the kid under the tree and he will give you the Fierce Deity Mask.
These masks give you special abilities that may come in handy during your quest.
After completing the Prologue and returning to human form at the beginning of the game, you can get this mask during any 3-day cycle. Capture the stray fairy in Clock Town again and take it to the Great Fairy in North Clock Town. She will give you the Great Fairy's Mask.
You will see an old woman walking in North Clock Town with a large sack. The thief Sakon will arrive shortly after and steal the sack from the old woman. Chase Sakon and hit him with your sword to knock the sack free. If you succeed in getting the sack back, the old woman will give you the Blast Mask.
Don't use a ranged weapon, such as the bow or the Zora fins. These will strike the sack, causing the sack to blow up and kill Sakon.
Go to the Laundry Pool in Clock Town on the night of day 1 or day 2 and talk to the man playing his music box (Guru-Guru). He will give you the Bremen Mask.
Romani Ranch
Go to Romani Ranch on any of the three days (you will need a Powder Keg to get there on day 1 or 2 to blow up the boulder blocking the entrance) and go into the building in the back of the ranch. Inside, you will find a man sitting by a tree and a bunch of baby chickens running around. Talk to the man, then put on the Bremen Mask and hold
to start marching. March around the entire area to attract all 10 of the baby chicks. Once you get them all, they will mature to adult chickens. After talking to the man again, he will give you the Bunny Hood.
This will enhance your sense of smell, enabling you to find mushrooms in the forest which you can sell.
Obtained after beating the first dungeon. After the swamp is restored and the Deku Princess is rescued, the Deku King's butler will race you through a maze. Upon completion, you'll be awarded with the Mask of Scents.
To obtain it you need to have beaten the second dungeon, obtained Epona and the Lens of Truth, and bought a Red Potion. Use Epona to jump over the gate to the east and use the Lens of Truth to find a man sitting in a ring of stones. Give him a Red Potion and you'll get the Stone Mask.
You use this mask to read Gossip Stones and the minds of animals.
This mask can be found by finding all thirty Skulltulla Tokens in the Swamp Spider House.
This mask fools Stalchildren into thinking that you are one of them. Required to beat the game.
You receive it when you play the Sonata of Awakening near the large skeleton in Ikana Graveyard, then by killing him.
This mask lets you talk to Gibdos. Required to beat the game.
Play the Song of Storms at the dried up fountain in Ikana Canyon, then go into the music box house (Make sure the girl doesn't see you), then go inside and play the Song of Healing in the basement when the Gibdo/human appears.
These masks generally just serve a single purpose, usually to show to someone to allow you to gain a piece of heart.
Causes Link to perform a dance when worn. Use it to dance for the two girls who dance in west clock town at night to obtain a piece of heart.
During the nighttime, head north of Clock Town and look for a man dancing on top of a large rock where some eerie music plays. Play the Song of Healing for him, and you'll receive Kamaro's Mask.
Let's you talk to frogs. You'll have to use it on four different frogs found throughout the world to obtain a Piece of Heart.
This mask must be obtained after beating the first dungeon and obtaining the Goron's Mask, but without ending the winter in the Goron Village by beating the second dungeon. Light all the torches in the goron city with a deku stick, and use the Goron's Spike Roll to break the rotating pots at the very top of the city to obtain a Rock Sirloin. Carry it all the way to the Mountain Village and throw it to the starving Goron to get this froggy mask.
Causes different reactions and conversations from certain people while wearing it. Show this mask to Anju on Day 1 to further your quest.
Obtained from the Mayor's wife after 10 AM in clock town. You'll be asked to be a detective and track down her missing son, Kafei.
Allows you to stay up during the boring stories the old lady at the inn tells.
To get this mask you have to save the bomb shop lady from the burglar at midnight on the first day, and wait around until the third day at midnight, where you can buy it for 500 Rupees. You need to clear the oceanside skulltula house on the first day in order to get the wallet.
Wear it when chopping up the bushes that run away and you'll get to play a game with a keaton for a piece of heart. It is also part of the Anju/Kafei sidequest.
First show Anju the Kafei mask around 2:30 on the first day, then visit her at 11:30 that night in the kitchen to obtain a letter for Kafei. Drop the letter in the mailbox and wait for it to be delivered. While Kafei receives the letter, enter the side door and wait for him to return and talk to him. Show up by the laundry pool again on the third day between 1:00pm and 6:00 pm to get the Keaton mask from the Curiosity Shop Owner.
This will let you open up mailboxes for a Piece of Heart the first time and Rupees after that.
As part of the Anju and Kafei quest, you'll also get a letter to "Mama". Give it to the mailman on the night of the third day, and wait for him to deliver it to get his hat.
Makes you look like a mad ninja, and will help you out greatly in the desert to the east. Required to beat the game.
After you've beaten the second dungeon and obtained Epona, race the Gorman brothers on Epona during the day. Win and you'll get Garo's Mask.
Allows access to the Milk Bar at night.
After you've beaten the second dungeon and obtained Epona, complete the Romani Ranch quest by defending the barn from aliens at the end of the first day, and by riding with Romani's sister to protect the milk from the Gorman brothers.
Makes repeating the Romani Ranch sidequest easier since they won't attack you while you're wearing it.
After going through the first three dungeons and obtaining all of link's forms, head to the Milk Bar and play all your instruments for the Zora there. The Gorman's brother will give you his mask.
This mask will put an end to the argument in the Mayor's office and get you a Piece of Heart.
Complete the entire Anju/Kafei sidequest. In addition to the steps requires to obtain the Keaton Mask, you need to enter the hideout in Ikana Canyon, which requires you to have the Garo's mask. On the third day at 6:00, be at the secret hideout location that the thief uses, and complete the rooms before the Sun Mask reaches the end of the conveyor belt.
Allows you to stand on top of the symbol outside the Woodfall Temple and be transported directly to the boss's chamber to beat the boss again (You don't actually put the mask on. Your possession of the mask is determined automatically by the game). This comes in handy if you want to clear up the swamp in a given 3-day cycle or if you just want to fight the boss again for fun.
This mask is received when you beat Odolwa, the boss of the Woodfall Temple.
Allows you to stand on top of the symbol outside the Snowfall Temple and be transported directly to the boss's chamber to beat the boss again (You don't actually put the mask on. Your possession of the mask is determined automatically by the game). This comes in handy if you want to melt the snow in the Mountain Village in a given 3-day cycle or if you just want to fight the boss again for fun.
This mask is received when you beat Goht, the boss of the Snowfall Temple.
Allows you to stand on top of the symbol outside the Great Bay Temple and be transported directly to the boss's chamber to beat the boss again (You don't actually put the mask on. Your possession of the mask is determined automatically by the game). This comes in handy if you want to cheer up Lulu in a given 3-day cycle or if you just want to fight the boss again for fun.
This mask is received when you beat Gyorg, the boss of the Great Bay Temple.
Allows you to stand on top of the symbol outside the Stone Tower Temple and be transported directly to the boss's chamber to beat the boss again (You don't actually put the mask on. Your possession of the mask is determined automatically by the game). This comes in handy if you want to fight the boss again for fun.
This mask is received as proof you beat Twinmold, the boss of the Stone Tower Temple.
Contains ancient power which causes anyone who wears it to perform evil deeds. It can corrupt the minds of even the most innocent of creatures (such as the skull kid).
This is the only mask in the game which can not be obtained by Link.
