Move while pressing attack for different attacks:
- Horizontal Cut:

then release. The attack power will increase the longer you hold down .

Use to deflect projectiles and block attacks. If targeting an object, Link can move around while blocking.
If an enemy is Targeted while Link is swimming, the shield can still be used.

- Use the targeting system to lock on to the nearest object, monster, or person
- Scroll left through subscreens
- Center the camera behind Link
While locked on, use to attack, or to talk.
The Targeting system can be configured on the options menu of the game select screen. In "switch" mode, press once to lock on, and again to unlock. In "hold" mode, hold to lock on and release to unlock. "Switch" is recommended for beginners and "Hold" is recommeded for veterans who likes a bit more challenge in using the controls.
