The Open/Closed sign controls the two elements that are essential to any business, employees and customers. They do so with these interactions.

  • Open Business: Sim opens business allowing customers to enter any room that isn't locked. Customers behave like normal visitors except for the hidden Shopping need ensuring that they look for goods to buy in your shop or actually go and dine in your restaurant.
  • Close Business: Sim tells customers to depart. Any remaining pay for their goods and leave. Without this interaction, customers will swamp your business all day long. Employees will remain until being asked to leave.
  • Call in Employees: If employees have left the lot, this interaction brings them back. Note that if they've been off the lot for less than six hours, they'll call in sick as they just can't make it.
  • Send Employees Home: Sends all employees home meaning that you no longer have to pay them the hourly rate. This means you can clean up your shop without the hassle of employees and customers.
