The Sims 2: DS is a 2005 life simulation video game by Maxis. This is part of the The Sims series and is published by EA Games. It was first released in Japan in August 2005, North American and Europe releases followed. Along with the core games, extra The Sims games were released for the DS. These included The Sims Castaway and The Sims Pets. This game has major differences to The Sims 2 PC Game. Players control a hotel instead of a house, and have special tasks.
 Gameplay and Story
Players find themselves stranded in Strangetown due to car troubles. Players get advised to reserve a bed at the local hotel. After completing a few tasks, Players receive a Management role at the hotel. There is then more problems with guests they must sort out.
Sims are generally all one age, even though there clothing may change from more "childish" clothes to suites. Sims do not age even though time does progress. Sims have a sanity meter, and if this empties, they may be abducted by aliens and generally brought back to the Management Suite.
The player's permanent career is the Hotel Manager. There are many other ways to get money, such as selling gourds and fuel rods, selling the milk from the cows, etc.
Players choose an aspiration for their sims. There is an aspiration meter (accessed in the managerial suite) that is filled by doing a specific action with other sims. The higher your aspiration meter is, the less your sanity meter decreases.
|Fortune||Earn additional money from hotel guests||Calm down angry sims|
|Popularity||Improve relationship with other sims faster||Cheer up sad sims|
|Romance||Other sims will be in the mood more often||Romance sims who are in the mood|
|Party||Recover twice as much sanity from using objects||Calm down loopy sims|
As sims do not age, they cannot die. However, players may choose to continue to play the game after the structured story ends. Although fires and other failure states lower sims' sanity meter, they are not actually harmed.
Players do not physically build rooms. They must buy a permit from the City Hall. Tristan Legend, an NPC, will build the room. This takes 8 hours.
