The episode starts off with the main protagonist, Lee Everett, being driven to prison on criminal charges.

Introduction[edit]

Nothing you say or do matters in the car; this is simply an introduction to the basics of the game. Look out the window to see some suspicious activity (big groups of cop cars driving down the opposite lane, accompanied later on by a helicopter) and answer the police officer's questions to progress with the story. Look at the mirror from time to time to get him talking. After the scene, you'll be back in control of the camera. Look at the officer's mangled body, then turn around and kick the window for a way out. Look at it to get the option to climb out of the car. Once you're out, move along the car and approach the cop. Look at him for a closer look, at which point you'll notice the keys in his back pocket. Take the keys and attempt to unlock your handcuffs. Lee will drop them and you'll have to repeat the process to free both wrists. Back away to escape the zombie attack until you hit the car. Look at the ground to the right and take the shotgun shell . Use it on the shotgun you find lying to the left, pick up the shell again when Lee drops it, and finally shoot the zombie's head off. Call out to the mysterious figure in the distance for a scene.

House[edit]

After the scene, you'll end up in the backyard of a suburban house. Open the sliding glass door and enter the house. Activate the answering machine to listen to a message as you investigate the rest of the house. The only necessary item here would be the walkie talkie in one of the kitchen drawers. When the message on the answering machine finishes, converse with Clementine over the walkie talkie until you're attacked by Sandra, her undead babysitter. Break free from her grip and keep kicking her until Clementine shows up at the door behind you. Grab the hammer, target the head, and hack away. Answer her question (she'll remember your response) and then decide whether you want to get out once the sun goes down or look for help before it gets dark. Either way, you'll end up meeting Shawn Greene, son of Hershel Greene. Start off by being honest to him now if you want to avoid some scolding from his father. Help push the car out of the way and Shawn will take you to Hershel's farm.

Farm[edit]

After talking to Hershel upon arriving, and then Clementine in the barn. In the morning, Lee will meet Kenny and his son, Duck. Talk to Kenny by his truck and his wife, Katjaa, with Clementine on the porch. Talk to Shawn and Lee will cut some wood for him while they talk. Afterward, when Hershel questions Lee, you can choose to lie to him or be honest. Shortly after this, Lee will have another tough decision to make: save Shawn or Duck. Because Lee's relationship with Kenny will continue after this, it's best to get on his good side and help his son. Shawn dies regardless of your choice. After talking to Kenny, Lee will join the family on a trip to Macon.

Pharmacy[edit]

Decide who you want to side with in the Duck conflict.

When the group is attacked, it appears to be likely that Duck has been bitten. Still, Kenny believes in the possibility that his son escaped the zombie's teeth. You can decide to side with Kenny and further earn his respect, or reason with Larry and earn respect from the new group. Either way, Clementine will be attacked by a walker that lunges out of the bathroom. Lee falls over but spot Clementine in his blurred vision and grab her. After grappling with the zombie, Larry will fall due to his need for heart medicine. With a new goal, Lee heads into the office. Before exploring the new area, return to the storefront and take the energy bar behind Carley. Give it to Duck for some respect from Kenny. Talk to Lilly about the pharmacy's owners. Attempt to help Carley with the radio; now you simply need to find batteries. One can be found on the floor, and the other by some greeting cards. Return to the radio with the batteries.

Back in the office, examine the photo on the floor, and Carley will enter for a conversation. Examine the desk to move it out of the way. After Clementine cuts her finger, search the first aid kit on the shelf and return to her. Lastly, look through the desk's drawer for a TV remote. Lee can use it on the TV in the room, but it won't do any good just yet. Exit the office and Glenn will request back-up at the motel. Talk to Carley to head out.

Motel[edit]

Attack the zombie when the target is orange.

Lean to the left and select the pillow. Select the truck up ahead and Lee will direct the group to hide behind it. Examine the zombie sitting against a nearby car and Lee will smother it with the pillow, giving Carley the opportunity to shoot it without alerting the other zombies. After getting into the car, take the spark plug on the seat and move the gear shift. Lee will be able to push the car into another zombie before returning to the truck. Examine the window and look at the icepick inside. Use the spark plug to smash the window and take the icepick . Return to the brick wall across from the RV. Look at the zombie and Lee will sneak up on it with his new weapon. When the target becomes orange and is on the zombie's head, stab it with the icepick. Lean to the left and examine the zombie . When it comes close, target it as you did the other and stab it twice. Finally, stab the zombie that was trapped by the car earlier. Take the fire axe .

Sneak up the stairs and take out both zombies with the fire axe. You can make a decision here but it won't matter, as the girl's been bitten and she'll only end up killing herself. With no more business to attend to at the motel, the group returns to the pharmacy.

Escape[edit]

Distract the zombies by throwing a brick at the store window.

Talk to Doug and he'll take Lee outside. Attempt to use the remote on the TVs, which will prompt Doug to reprogram the remote so that the TVs come on and distract a few walkers. Examine the trapped walker to the right to find the keys to the pharmacy. Examine the combination lock on the gate and Lee will knock it off with the fire axe. Examine the brick on the ground and throw it toward the TVs, attracting the attention of the walkers. Walk out of the gate to approach Lee's zombified brother. Hit him with the axe a few times to retrieve the keys. Back inside, use the keys on the door. When the walkers start breaking in, it's time to escape.

Approach the group asking for help and Lee will take Glenn's place in holding the doors down. Push the front door when the zombies begin bursting in. Block the door using the cane Clementine retrieves and prepare for a decision: save the life of either Doug or Carley. Whoever you don't choose will succumb to the walkers, so choose wisely. Target the zombie attacking Clementine repeatedly to stomp on it, and run to the exit. Take Kenny's hand and talk to everybody at the motel to complete the first episode.
