Two sides of the same coin[edit]

This stage is presented in such a way, that by passing through each warp door, you end up in a similar position of two nearly identical passageways. The big difference between the two is that the passage you start in has an uninterrupted lower floor, while the passage that contains to goal splits the lower floor in two. The most dangerous passage in this stage are the ones closest to warp door W3, which contains many powerful boss-class enemies in a small space. Avoid that portion of the stage. Also be on the look out for enemies which may inadvertently occupy the openings of some of the doors.

Recommended route[edit]

The mysterious chick
The baby chick that you encounter behind door B in this stage serves no obvious purpose to the game. By touching it, you are quickly presented with a simple picture of a cat along with a word in Japanese. Doing this is unrelated to the actual game play, and is completely voluntary. The word is believed to have been a password needed to access some promotional material from SunSoft.

The best plan is to collect any of the items you need before approaching the boss room. With that in mind, head right from the start and advance to warp door W2. Once on the other side, return to the left and pay a visit to door A if you are in need of health. Collect the Apple inside if you choose to, then climb the ladder that's to the right to the upper floor. As you advance to the right, you'll pass the goal door. Keep going until you reach door B. Inside this door, you will find a baby chick (see the sidebar.)

Beyond door B is door C, where you will be able to collect the third and final Flame Sword. Now your Flame Sword is at its maximum strength. From door C, return to the left, past the goal door and access warp door W1 to return to the original portion of the stage. Run to the right and climb up the next ladder to door D, where the stage boss can be found. After the boss is defeated, return back to W1 and return to the goal door to advance to the next stage.

Boss: Bunyon[edit]

Wing of Madoola Bunyon.png
HP: 1610
Power: 350

The Bunyon is a persistent, yet manageable boss to do battle against. You will only encounter one of these inside a boss room, and this one is the easiest of all. The Bunyon will track down and follow Lucia wherever she goes, hopping along the floor as it goes. It can not shoot fireballs, nor does it stop and turn around instantly. The Bunyon may actually be hard to make appear. Keep walking around the room for a while until it remains on the screen following you. There are a couple of methods of dealing with the Bunyon. The fastest method is by using the Flame Sword. You will need a good amount of space to run away from the Bunyon, but as you run, you can turn around every now and then and send flames at it. Using this method with the third Flame Sword, you can defeat the Bunyon in only seven shots, ten with the second Flame Sword. Alternatively, a safer yet slower method is to use the same strategy that you probably used against Gaguzul. Stand on top of the highest platform and detonate Magic Bombs over the Bunyon. This takes a lot longer, but you will always remain safely out of harm's way.
