Part 1[edit]

Trojan Stage3-1.png

In this stage, you must descend down several floors of a hideout. Each floor contains its own particular arrangement of enemies which can attack from either side. To descend each floor, you must reach the elevator platforms on the opposite ends. You are still vulnerable to attack when you ride the elevators down. If you die, you will start over from the top unless you reach the checkpoint level. The only new enemy is the Spiders. Preemptive jumping attacks are a useful way to deal with them as you cross their floor. Watch out for the goo that they spit at you.

  1. Smashers
  2. Slashers (plus explosives)
  3. Spiders
  4. Smashers
  5. Spiders
  6. Slashers (CHECKPOINT)
  7. Smashers
  8. Boss

Boss[edit]

Trojan Stage3-1 Boss.png

Muscular is a tough boss because he is the only enemy that is capable of hurting the player even while you are using your shield to block an attack. If he connects his weapon with you, you lose two health points. If you block it with your shield, you will still lose one health point. So it is best to keep your distance from him. It is possible to finish him off with a series of low rapid strikes, but when in doubt wait for him to swing at you first, then hit him with a jump attack and immediately jump back out.

Part 2[edit]

The second part is identical to the first.

  1. Smashers
  2. Slashers (plus explosives)
  3. Spiders
  4. Smasher
  5. Spiders
  6. Slashers (CHECKPOINT)
  7. Smashers
  8. Boss

Boss[edit]

Trojan Stage3-2 Boss.png

The boss of this stage is your nemesis, the evil Trojan. He possesses all of your abilities. The one advantage that you have over him is your speed. You can strike at him much more rapidly than the computer will ever strike at you. Therefore, if you have enough health, you can get in close, squat down, and rapidly swing your sword in order to bring him down before he brings you down. Since you get all of your health back after this fight, it doesn't matter how much damage you take. If health is a concern, try jumping in and jumping back out with your shield up to avoid getting struck.

NES differences[edit]

Part 1[edit]

Trojan Stage3-1 NES.png

In the NES version, stepping on the elevator causes all current enemies to instantly disappear. Therefore, you never have to worry about being attacked while you stand on the elevator.

  1. Smashers
  2. Slashers
  3. Explosives
  4. Smashers
  5. Slashers
  6. Explosives
  7. Boss

The fight with Muscular (who looks very different and wields a large club) is only difficult if you are concerned with keeping your health meter full and holding on to your power increase. It is possible to jump backwards and strike him before he begins to swing at you. Keep a cautious amount of distance between you.

Part 2[edit]

Trojan Stage3-2 NES.png

The second set introduces a steeper increase in difficulty by placing Mamushis on certain floors (although you will still only face one at a time). You do not actually have to defeat them, as setting foot on the elevator instantly removes them from the screen.

  1. Mamushi
  2. Slashers
  3. Smashers and Explosives
  4. Mamushi
  5. Slashers
  6. Smashers and Explosives
  7. Boss

Fighting Trojan is much easier in this version of the game. If you stay slow and continue to swing your sword, he will jump into your strike every time.
