Arcade version
NES version

Trojan is a very linear game with no shortcuts or warp zones. To complete the game, you must successfully navigate your way through all six stages in order. While the arcade version and the NES version are identical, the NES version (shown to the right) presents your progress through the game with more illustration than the arcade version (shown to the left).

Each stage is comprised of two sections. Each section contains a boss at the very end. You do not regain health when transferring from the first section of a stage to the second, but you always regain health after completing the boss fight of the second section, and before moving on to the first section of the next stage. Therefore, you may wish to fight very carefully against the boss in the first section because the health you finish with is the remaining health you will have for the next section. However, you can fight with a little more abandon against the boss of the second section because no matter how little health you have left, you will always start the next stage with a full eight bars of life.

NES V.S Game[edit]

NES V.S Game

In addition to choosing between a one or two player game, the NES version also provides a mode where two players can battle each another in a one-on-one sword fight. Player one controls the regular Trojan while player two controls the enemy Trojan from the single player game. Each player begins a battle with a full meter of eight life points. Each time a player strike his opponent with his sword, the opponent loses one life point. A battle is concluded when one player is out of life points, awarding the other player with a victory. The battles continue until one fighter earns three wins, and the game returns to the title screen.
