New Magincia[edit]
In order to reach New Magincia, the town of Humility, you need a frigate. The less expensive ones you can buy are in Jhelom, town of Valor.
Once you buy a frigate in Jhelom, sail straight east. Follow the coast initially to the south-east, then continue along the coast. You will eventually find a north-east passage between Cape of Heroes and the nearby islands. Continue north along the coast, pass in front of Trinsic and further north to Paws. From the pier in Paws, sail straight east, until you reach an island: it is Buccaneer's Den, but you have no business there yet. Follow the island coast south-east, then continue straight east. You will ultimately reach the isle of New Magincia. There is a pier to the south, where you can get off your ship.

You can buy wool from Aurendir and sell it to Charlotte for twice its purchasing price. See more in the Trading merchants side-quests page.
Katrina the farmer is one of the original eight Companions of the Avatar. She can join your party, but her attributes are indeed humble.
There are no inns in New Magincia, but the party can camp and Rest on the north-west coast of the island.
Katrina's house[edit]
Katrina's house is right north of the fields she is working. You can freely take the items in her house after you talk with her; it is not considered stealing. Item list:
- 40 arrows
- bow
- 1 gem
- lightning wand
- blue invisibility ring
- 6 flasks of oil
The mantra and the rune[edit]
Ask Antonio, the Lord Mayor, about the mantra and the rune of Humility. He will say that he give you the Rune if you can find the humblest person in New Magincia; he will add that this person knows the mantra.
So, ask all the six other inhabitants of the town about the mantra and the rune. Two of them know the mantra: Aurendir the shepherd and Conor the fisherman. Ask them about humility, and you will easily recognize that Conor is the humblest of the two.
Go back to the Lord Mayor, tell him your answer and he will give you the rune of Humility.
The shrine[edit]
Conor the fisherman tells you about the whereabouts of the Shrine of Humility: it is to the south-east of New Magincia. He will also agree to lend you his skiff. As in Ultima 5, you can board a frigate while you are onboard a skiff. This way, nobody has to carry the skiff on his/her shoulders.
In order to get to the shrine, position your ship to the south-east cape of New Magincia. From there, sail straight south. When you reach another island, sail straight east. There are a few islets that prevent your ship to get into the river. Get off the ship, drop Conor's skiff near you and sail upstream the river. When you reach a lake, follow the southern shore and the subsequent river southwards. Get off the ship on the west bank, walk a bit and meet the gargoyles. Be careful: there are volcanoes that can damages your characters, too!
You can find sulphurous ash in the north-east corner of the valley enclosing the Shrine.
Use the Rune and Mantra of Humility to release the Shrine, then get the Moonstone. If you meditate at the Shrine of Humility, no attribute upgrade will be obtained even if you have enough experience to gain a level (and HP). Therefore, meditate with a character who cannot earn a level now!
Actually, the only character who can gain a level here without penalty is Sherry the mouse. Indeed, she starts at level 1, so she can earn seven levels by meditating at seven shrines. Because of her high dexterity, Sherry need not meditate at the shrine of Compassion, so she can meditate here.
